Chapter 2 - New memories

"…"

The room was silent. He kept staring into the mirror, trying to understand what had just happened.

(It looks like I died in my previous world and my soul came in this body. I thought this just happened in fantasy novels. I'm actually getting to experience such a thing. But did I possess a dead body or did I combine with the previous owner of the body?…oh well, I won't find the answer if I just keep thinking about it.)

(So… according to these memories, I am now in the body of Arthur Von Dravier of the Dravier kingdom. Arthur was the youngest prince among his 7 brothers and 3 sisters. He couldn't use magic for some reason, so he was looked down upon by everyone in the royal palace. Because his mother spoiled him rotten, he developed an arrogant attitude…this is a very difficult situation.)

(In this world, magic is regarded as the supreme power. The strong is respected, while the weak can only get stepped upon by the strong. I actually got a second chance at life. But it looks like I will have to face the problems caused by Arthur before…)

*sigh*

(I wonder if mother and father also got a chance to be reborn. Will I be able to see them again…)

Arthur felt tears forming in his eyes, recalling the memories of living together with his family. All the moments since his childhood came into his mind. Droplets of tears rolled down his cheeks. His eyes showed strong grief and sadness. Remembering that he was now in an unfamiliar world where he knew no one, he felt immensely lonely.

He walked towards the bed and sat down, trying to stop his emotions from bursting out. Only after some time did he finally calm down. He then silently thought to himself.

(Although I have the memories of Arthur, I still don't completely know about this world. Because he was pampered so much, Arthur wasn't concerned about learning anything. Ha….what a headache.)

Suddenly, the door of the room opened and a woman who looked to be in her early thirties walked in, followed by some guards. She had long silver hair and deep blue irises. She was wearing a long purple dress and had a crown on her head. Every step she took gave off a noble, dignifying aura. She walked hurriedly towards Arthur. There was a concerned look on her face.

"Son! You are finally awake! Do you know how worried I was?"

She gently hugged Arthur with tears in her eyes. She gently touched his head and asked.

"Are you feeling better now ?"

"Yes… mother, I just feel a bit weak…"

"Thank goodness the healers were able to remove the poison within your body in time or…or you would have…"

She wiped the tears on her face and said with a stern look

"I will be assigning a trusted maid to take care of you. Don't try to eat anything that is not given by her and don't go anywhere without her ok ?"

"Ok…"

"Now take a good rest. I have some important matter to discuss with your father. If you need, anything then just call for the maid."

Arthur quietly nodded his head. The women then left with the guards behind her. Only the maid remained in the room. She looked at Arthur and giving him a cold gaze, she said.

"Your highness, I will be staying outside the door. If you need anything, then please don't hesitate to call for me."

Then, she gave a slight bow and left the room. Arthur thought to himself.

(From my memories, that woman is Elize Von Dravier, my mother…she quite reminds me of my mother back on earth. When I used to get hurt, my mother also took care of me…)

Arthur felt sad, remembering his father and mother, who had already passed away. He then thought again.

(That maid gave me quite a cold glance. Just as I thought, it looks like the servants despise me due to Arthur's attitude. I need to improve my reputation, even if it is just a little.)

(From what mother said, it looks like I had been poisoned. I need to be more careful about the people surrounding me. But why would they want to kill someone so weak and useless like Arthur ?)

Arthur remembered that he had been lying on the bed for a long time and he had gotten very sweaty.

(I should first take a bath…)
