Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

A couple of things you should know about my dad. He isn't a tall man, nor is he a short man. He is as standard as they come 5'9, bright blue eyes, and curly black hair that is turning grey on the sides. He has always been a happy man, even in times of stress, and he has always managed to make me smile no matter how hard things were getting for us. My hands and voice were shaking as I began to read the letter out loud to my friends.

My Dearest Yelena,

I'm writing this in hopes that it will find you in Europe. I know it isn't under the best circumstances that you are reading this. I hope you're not alone. If Kyle is there tell him I am proud to call him family, he has always been like a son to me, and his sweet girl Ella, I was so proud he found someone who is his other half.

If you are home, I must warn you that the item that came with this letter was of great importance, if you have not used it, then I beg of you to use it now. It will hurt, but you are the only one I believe that it will work on. This will make you strong Yelena, strong enough to take out the people who are coming for you, the people up until recently never knew you existed. I am sorry to have it be you; I wish it would have worked on Cole.

Yelena, I implore you that you ask for help where ever you go, you have many friends in all of the different factions. They will help you on your journey. This is not a journey that can be easily traveled alone. I know I am speaking of nothing, but of everything. It doesn't make sense to you now, but it will one day, honey. Kiah and his parents are a part of this, and you can trust them to read this letter.

Where ever we are, sweetheart, I want you to know that we are safe, they can't find us where we are, but they can find you. Don't stay in one place for too long. I am sure they were alerted if you left the protection of the Duchanes. Not to worry if Kiah is with you he should know what is going to happen, if you did leave and he stayed home, there was good reason; he should be arriving soon enough to help you.

I love you, my baby girl, you will always mean the world to me, please do not be stubborn and ask your friends for help. I know you're strong honey, but this isn't something that can be done alone.

Love you Always,

Walter

Kyle sighed, and I just kept looking at the letter, "This makes no sense to me guys, does it make sense to you?" I asked completely confused. "And no, I haven't used the shit he gave me; I was scared to do it alone."

Ella stood up and crossed the floor to my suitcase, "I guess we'll just have to do it now before someone comes barging in and asking for it." She fished it out of my suitcase and came to sit next to me. "Yelena honey, I'm going to have Kyle hold you down, your dad said that it was going to hurt."

I nodded, unable to speak as Kyle moved gracefully towards me. They laid me down over the cushions of the couch, with Kyle gently putting weight on my shoulders to keep me steady. Ella went to the kitchen and grabbed the first aid kit and an elastic band. She came back into the living room, smirking, "You're lucky I was a nurse before I got turned."

I grinned, "I know you'll make it hurt a little less, which I am very grateful for." I watched her place the elastic band around my arm.

"Yelena, I would close your eyes if I were you, I don't want you thrashing when you see the needlepoint." She swabbed my arm with an alcohol swab to clean over the vein.

I closed my eyes and turned my head towards the back of the couch, anticipating the pain. I only knew when I was going to get stuck because Kyle had put more weight on my shoulders

I felt the needle hit my skin, and I screamed into the back of the couch, making sure I muffled myself enough that only we could hear me.

"Yelena, hold still!" I heard Ella yell at me.

'I thought I was holding still,' I thought to myself as pain seared through my body, I could feel Kyle holding my whole body down now, not just my shoulders. My ears could barely make out the whispers of Ella and Kyle.

Why did they sound so far away? They were standing right next to me. Another pain seared through my body, and I screamed into the back of the couch again, trying to stifle my pain, and then everything went black.
