Louisa spent a good ten minutes glancing at the door where Rochester had walked through. She was still in his bed, musing over how she could have muttered an appeal to have him not leave as he had done. Or at least listen to what she had to say.
When Simon had come by the door, Rochester had excused himself to go see and because both men had kept their conversation restricted to the doorway, Louisa had not heard a thing of what they'd discussed. After that Rochester returned to her side briefly, planted a soft kiss on her forehead, and said, "Don't leave this bed until I return. We must have this conversation when I'm back."
He kissed her once again but on her cheek this time before darting for the door where he met up with Simon and they left accordingly.
Ever since then Louisa kept glancing over that piece of wood...
Hoping he would come back in.
Hoping she would tell him the facts and get her lies over with.
