Samantha felt suddenly annoyed. Excessively infuriated. "And are you going to ignore Adelaide's curt behaviour just now?" she asked, disbelief latched onto her pale-pink irises.
"Adele is only a child," said Eloise, gesturing.
"Mother, even you?"
"I believe this talk should not be much overblown," said Eloise, "perhaps after Dexter is done with what he needs to say…."
"I agree." Rochester sat straighter in his chair, abandoning his cup of rum. His profile under the lighting seemed tense as he spoke, "I will be visiting Wales; I will be away for roughly a week."
"A week!" Samantha, studying how her voice resounded the most absurd in that esteemed dining hall, held her peace. She stroked her hair behind her ear, letting her eyes flit in shame over the many recipes seated in front of her. She swallowed and stayed.
"Why the sudden need to travel?" asked Eloise in her typical reserved manner. Isabelle was still feasting her food just fine.
