Chapter 11 - "... If he wants to be worthy of her then he has to change."

In the kitchen…

Mrs. Wiyata laughed, "That's right, ah! I still remember how you got kicked in the ass by Jadrian for picking my flowers back then!"

Abdul scratched his head in embarrassment, "Ma'am, it's a very shameful childhood. Don't mention that…"

"No-no-no! From the three of us, yours is the most fun to tell!" Melati laughed out loud as she slapped his back.

"Hiss. At least don't mention it when I'm here!" Abdul yelled helplessly.

Mrs. Wiyata shook her head as she dried the dishes, "Alright, we won't."

"Mom--"

Mrs. Wiyata and the others turned to look at Raina who's surprisingly hadn't go home.

"Why are you still here? There seems to be the sound of the car. So I thought it's Sekar's father and you already go home." Melati said in doubt.

Raina shrugged her shoulders and opened the fridge to check the vegetables left, "It is but they seem to want to 'discuss' about something complicated, so here I'm waiting for Haydar to finish 'talking'."

"Oh~ Well, aren't you tired? Just sit down." Abdul simply nodded changed the topic by suggesting her.

Mrs. Wiyata dried her hands and quickly pushed her daughter to sit on the available stool and closed the fridge, "Abdul is right. Just stay still and wait for Haydar. Don't move around."

Raina nodded helplessly, "Okay-okay, I won't move."

She watched her mom go back to dry the dishes as she gossiped with the other two. As she looked at the three of them clearly, her mom's figure overlapped with her brother.

When she was a child, she often chased after her teenage brother and his friends, Brother Abdul and Sister Melati, wanting to play together when she was totally annoyed by the boy Haydar.

His face filled with the word reluctant, but he still carry her in his arms and bought her with them to an internet cafe, though actually she never understood what games they were playing. If recalled now, it seems to be shooting games

He also taught her to play but thinking about their excited reactions, she seems lost.

There were also other times when they were catching fish in a small river. At that time, the three teenagers were too focused on catching fish that they didn't realize she was almost drowned. After she woke up, she was in her brother's embrace and his face was pale, full of tears and snots, holding her with cold and trembling hands. Back at home, his brother who was still shocked and sobbed was beaten by her mom with the broom.

Since then brother became too careful for her. When she was in his sight, he would glance at her every minute that she felt tired of being watched by him like a prisoner. However, she never said anything to him about it. She was aware that it became his trauma.

All of sudden, a picture of her brother holding bloodied blood came to her mind…

Will the previous incident add another trauma for him? Will he become overprotective of her?

"Nana."

Raina was startled and turned her head to look at the kitchen door. Haydar was standing there staring at her without expression.

"There he is-- Haydar, Auntie asking you to send Raina home safely. After all, it's almost midnight, dangerous for girls to go out alone." Mrs. Wiyata said.

Haydar nodded with a small smile, "I know, Auntie. Don't worry."

Out of the food shop, Raina sensed that his mood wasn't too good. She felt curious about what happened previously but she knew she shouldn't interfered with his matters.

She peeked at him and asked abruptly, "Aren't you hungry? I'm pretty hungry, let's buy something?"

Haydar squinted his eyes to observed her and found out it was just an excuse. He grinned, "My fairy is actually hungry? Won't you get fat eating in the middle of the night?"

"I won't, okay? I often had a meal in the middle of the night after part-time jobs." Raina snorted at his failed tease.

"Eating heavy food at midnight too often is no good for your body. In the future, you have to lessen that." Haydar warned her lightly.

Raina glanced at his solemn face and agreed softly, "Okay, I'll listen to you for this one."

Seeing her so well-behaved, Haydar almost couldn't hold back his feeling. He raised his hand to rub her head, "My little fairy is so cute~"

Raina slapped his hand away in annoyance, "Now you like playing with your hands, huh? Since when did you become so bold?"

Haydar smirked at her, "I can't help it! Day by day my fairy is getting more adorable that I can't keep my hands still."

"Day by day my so-called guardian is getting more annoying that I can't keep my hands from pinching you!"

Raina raised her hand and showed him a pinching gesture making Haydar raise both arms to surrender.

"My devil girl, please keep your devil claws away from me."

"As you called me, I'm a devil. I won't fulfill your wishes if you don't give me some offerings." She folded her arms and raised her chin arrogantly.

"Offerings?"

Haydar thought a moment before spotting a night street vendor selling not far from them. He took her hand and dragged her to the street vendor, then let her sit on the stool.

(Wedang ronde: glutinous rice balls in ginger syrup from Indonesia.)

"This is my offering? Do you want to accept it? Haydar asked while pointing at the drink with his chin.

Raina gave him an okay sign, " Ok! I'll accept it."

"Good. My little devil should keep what she said before."

"I'm a devil. I won't keep my words!"

"... You cheat."

....

In the neighboring city, Sawo City.

Inside a dark big room with a little light from a large TV, a middle-aged woman was laying on a big and luxurious sofa with one arm propping up her head, and the other on her waist, imitating a mermaid lying on the stone.

With a facial mask covering her face, except her eyes and her mouth, she stay still in such a posture as she watched the reality show on the TV not far in front of her.

Soon the sound of the opening door together with the sound of footsteps reverberating inside this huge mansion, mixed with the noises of the TV.

The middle-aged woman seems to know whose footstep it was. She opened her mouth stiffly because of the facial mask, "Honey, you're back."

The footstep stopped, then it sound again. This time, the sound getting closer and closer toward the middle-aged woman.

As it got closer, the figure which was in the dark was soon exposed by the light from the TV. He was a middle-aged man with a prominent aura, he was still handsome even at his age. However, something felt weird, it was because he look a lot like Haydar in the older version.

... Who else but Haydar's father?

He looked at the woman wearing a facial mask laying on the sofa and then bent down to kiss her hair, "I thought you're asleep."

"No. I can't miss my handsome idol's show." She waved her hand and pointed at the TV which currently showed the handsome of the young idol.

Haydar's father sighed lightly then moved to sit down on the carpet and lean against the sofa where Haydar's mom lay.

"Move to the left a bit, you're covering the TV."

Haydar's father moved to the left without saying anything. Sensing his weirdness, Haydar's mom couldn't help but touched his face and rubbed it.

"Sons' dad, why are you so quiet? That's so rare."

Haydar's father let her play with his face and answers with a bit dazed, "Your youngest son... is actually requesting something from me for the first time."

Recalling her small son who was currently chasing after his beloved, her eyes lit up. She pinched and pulled his cheek lightly and asked impatiently, "What is it? What is it? Hurry up and tell me!"

"He... wants me to put pressures on Phria Group..."

"Ah? Which group is that?" Letting her pinch, she moved to caressed his temples.

Haydar's father sighed again and put his head against the sofa, enjoying her caress, "Bayan's companies. The one who keeps on wanting to match his daughter with the youngest son."

Hearing this, Haydar's mother pushed his head lightly, "Well, isn't he your so-called annoying friend who's actually thirsty for status in the business industry? Why are you hesitating then?"

Hayder's father turned to face her with uneasiness on his face, "But he asked that for the sake of a girl! What if the girl he likes is actually not a good one? Like she is taking advantage of him?"

Haydar's mother laughed at his concern and realized that this old guy didn't which girl his youngest son likes.

"Do you remember the white doll, Raina? That's her."

With some confusion, Haydar's father confirmed, "What do you mean?"

Haydar's mother tapped on his nose, "The one your youngest son likes is that little white doll."

"The little girl from the Haydar's album? So it's never changed?"

"Never! Do you want to know why he suddenly transferred?"

Haydar's father stared at her in silence, signing her to continue.

"This time he goes back to his grandma's house is because he accidentally heard some rumor about that white doll from his grandma. You know what, after he heard it he locked himself in his room regretting not knowing sooner. Then the next day, he comes out of his room with swollen eyes and announced that he wants to transfer to another school. Geez, isn't he the exact copy of you?" Haydar's mom tapped his nose again.

Haydar's father was taken back at such details, "Really? I never expect that. I only know that he moves school because of a girl, that's it."

He then thought of something else, "What about the rumor? What rumor is it?"

"... The rumor is half true." Haydar's mother sat up, "I already investigated it last time. But if your youngest son knows, he'll be angry with us."

Haydar's father moved to sit next to her. He also didn't forget to persuade her, "It's fine. If we don't say anything, he won't know! Tell me."

"Your youngest son isn't stupid, you see." Haydar's mother proceeded to take off her mask, "The white doll's brother accidentally killed someone out of defense, for the sake of her. He got into prison and will be out soon. Because of the result of the trial, the white doll, and her mom need to pay the debt. They worked for two years non-stop, but the good thing is it's finally paid."

As Haydar's father was about to say something, his mouth was stopped by her index finger. He heard her continue, "It's not the only reason your son is away from home. From the investigation, the white doll is completely ostracized in her school. Thanks to her fighting skill, no one dares to mess with her. But just think about it, a girl at her age should be having fun with her friends as we do back then. She's pretty miserable."

Haydar's father grabbed her index finger and continued to listen to his wife.

"But Honey, I won't pity her. All of her hard work should be rewarded instead of given some pity." Haydar's mother stared at the man in front of her solemnly, "She's a strong girl. Haydar, who only knows how to play and is a naughty one, isn't worthy of her. If he wants to be worthy of her then he has to change."

Haydar's father smiled hearing this, and kissed her finger to reassure her, "Didn't you just say he's the exact copy of me? Then you don't have to worry. Trust your youngest son more, he'll change for the better, just like me in the past."
