It was exactly two hours since they entered the safe room. It was really spaceous with well decorated walls, state of the art technology and a monitor displaying all the security cameras. Rhoda was with Anne pacing while the boys were watching the camera feed. When they entered the safe room the plan was to contact for help.
But there was a slight problem. The mercenaries cut the communication line. So this means no calls in or out and no intenet. In short they were stuck with no help whatsoever.
"I think I may have an idea." Nik was first to break the silence. The others were listening. No one was going to come for them unless they notified them.
" My father has a satellite phone in his office. It's in one of his drawers. The satellite phone does not require cell service so it should still work perfectly. The plan is that one of has to go to his office retrieve the phone and call for help. But once you are outside we have to close the safe room. We can't risk them coming in." Nik explained the plan to Rommy and Dan. That was their last resort of getting oit of here alive. That sat phone was their only hope.
But there are 2 problems in that plan. First is that the office is situated at the ground floor near the front door. So going there would mean crossing the hall filled with mercenaries. Secondly, once you're out, you're on your own. Meaning whoever is going out there will be going on a suicide mission.
Now comes the hard part. Who is going out there? It was obviously one of the boys. The girls were scared to even look at the screen much less go outside.
"I'll go. I have a better chance of making it back in one piece. Or atleast try." They all looked at each other as Danny made that statement. Of course nobody said anything because it was true. Dan underwent private weapons training. He even has a black belt. He of course has a better chance of survival than the rest of them.
As Dan was talking, the girls moved closer and overhead. Anne face went pale and it seemed all the alcohol drained from her face. She didn't beleive what she heard. Dan was going out there where there were dead people and mercenaries waiting. This was not a good idea. But she had no chlice but to accept the hard truth. He was more trained and more skilled to survive than anyone else in the room. Nik was talking to Dan. He was explaining to him how to get into the office and where to find the phone. Everyone was tense except Dan, well maybe on the outside. Inside Dan was thinking of a hundred ways where this would go bad, all resulting in his capture and most probable cause his death. But he had mo other choice.
"Remember the phone is in the third drawer in my dad's desk. Once you make the call you have to hide untill help gets here."
"Guys you have to see this."Rommy who was still warching the thufs through the monitors called Danny and Nik over. something strange was happening. All the guards seemed to be leaving the house. The camera spotted them just a few hundred metres away from the house. One intruder though was still in the house. He walked infront of a camera, opened a bag and removed something. Since his body was infront of the camera the guys were not able to detect what it was at first. But as he moved out of the way, what they saw made them gasp.
It was a bomb. A big round bomb with a timer on top. The man held a sign near the camera.
"THAT THERE IS A BOMB. BRING OUT ANNE HARTHAWAY AND WE WILL LET YOU WALK OUT ALIVE OR ELSE THE BOMB GOES OFF AND YOU ALL DIE. YOU HAVE 10 MINUTES TO DECIDE". After making sure the sign was clearly seen he walked away and headed to join the others.
This was really bad. Not only was their plan busted but now they had a bomb that would go off in 10 minutes. They had only one option and that was to turn in Anne. What they wanted with her was the thing they couldn't understand.
The atmosphere in the room got tense. The silence was a clear indication. No one knew what to do. Everyone kept staring at the boom on the screen, whose timer showed 5 minutes remaining. They all knew to get out of this situation they have to surrender Anne to thse people. Or wait and the boom goes off.
Although the safe room is boom proof the explosion may cause structiral damage to the house, which could lead to electric failure. Without electricity all the fans supplying the safe room will switch off plus the metric system required to open the large steel door. This means they will have about 8 minutes of emergency air before they suffocate to death. This was really not their day.
