"We can dig a pit and find some stones, then heat the stones up and put the cassava in to cook," Melinda said.
"I'll go to the stream to pick up some stones." Sharon picked at the fire with a branch, wanting it to burn brighter.
"Okay, I'll go with you." Melinda followed Sharon.
By the time Sharon and Melinda picked up a pile of small rocks, the fire was almost done, and Shane had already dug the pit.
Dan placed the small stones that Sharon and Melinda had picked up in the pit. Then, he placed the wood that was still burning with embers onto the stones in the pit. Then, he placed some new wood to heat the stone.
After the stone heated up, Dan placed the cassava in and used the remaining heat of the stone and charcoal to smolder the cassava. This way, he could lock the water in the cassava.
In the end, Sharon buried the pit with soil. In a while, she would be able to eat the fragrant roasted cassava.
