Shu Pan heard her provocative tone, yet didn't get angry and maintained her composed expression.
"I came here spontaneously, wanting to surprise him, but since he's not here, it doesn't matter. I'll call him later." Shu Pan didn't want to stoop to Xia Xiaoqiao's level.
"Mom, is dad not in the office?" Joy said unhappily, it was rare for her to come here and her dad wasn't even present.
"Yes, dad might be busy with something. Let's call him later, for now, mom will take you out to eat," Shu Pan explained patiently.
"Sure." Joy was still a child, and the mention of food made her forget her unhappiness.
Shu Pan looked at her carefree expression and thought to herself that it was better to be a child, as the adult world was really too complicated and exhausting.
"Mrs. Gu, I'm really sorry for making you come here for nothing. Next time you can call ahead before coming," Xia Xiaoqiao's tone sounded a bit schadenfreude.
