Wiping her hands from her napkin, Hazel had taken a few steps when she heard the desperate voice of the man, whom she would have taken as mute and deaf for his lack of response.
"Why? Why are you abandoning me?"
It would be a lie if she would say that she was not taken aback. Shouldn't he be happy and grateful that she was giving him freedom? Why was he calling her with such necessity as if she was behind his demise?
Keeping her thoughts at bay, she turned with a blank face and looked down on him,
