Alex ran towards the mass of people who were only a few steps away from him but time was essential and he wanted to get the hell out of this place as fast as possible.
Arriving to the nearest group he began looking around more closely and finally noticed how severe the situation really was, many of the younger ones were clutching, or shaking badly as tears fell from their eyes and tried to call what he could only think as their family names, other were walking aimless or simply kneeling on the ground as if they'd surrender or were waiting for someone to make a decision for them.
Fighting could be seen all around him as he moved deeply into the sea of people, guessing more short temper morons started abusing and beating others to relive themselves of stress, the very thought disgusted him, he had his experience with that kind of people before, never could he understand how you get pleasure in causing pain to others for no justified reason.
"Concentrate on what is important now Alex, nothing going around you is your fault or problem, and you can't fix it either"
Reminding about the lack of time he began to look around finding scattered bags and pouches around himself which made him extremely happy, as it wouldn't take long before he gotten an adequate amount he needed.
Maneuvering between people he manage to find another 4 pouches of water aside from his own that he tied it around his waist, and 5 leather bags which instead of carrying all of them, separated the content and stored in different bags, putting the dry meat in one bag, taking the small daggers out and placing them in his boots, and place the coin in another one, to make it more efficient and easy to carry.
While placing everything around him and checking if he had enough of everything he needed, Alex managed to catch sight of a belt like the one he was wearing on the ground a few feet around him.
"Lucky" he though as he quickly pick it up and wrap it in between his neck and shoulder all the way to his opposite hip as if it was a purse instead.
"Umu" giving himself a self satisfying nod and relocating the bags in his new belt yo distribute the weight around his body, he finally felt he was ready.
"This should be enough to easily last me a week" satisfied with his spoils he began to move toward the outside of the mass of people around him.
"If will be easier to go around the army than trying to break through the middle as it would take longer with so many people moving around"
As he keep advancing while lost in thoughts he didn't notice that the crow infront of him was moving away.
"Mmm?" Finally noticing something was wrong he looked at the people in front of him, staring at him while backing away, tripping and screaming, fear could be seen in their eyes.
"What tha-"Just before he could even finish his words, something grabbed him by the belt he was wearing on his chest and forced him to do a glut turn and slightly pulled him upwards as if something was trying to choke him.
"YOU LITTLE SHIT, WHERE YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING WITH MY STUFF!?"
Alex was surprised at what he was seeing, someone was in front of him, grabbing his new belt and accusing him of stealing his belongings, not a situation he is used to being in, as he has no masochist tendencies.
As he looked at the guy holding him, he notice he was huge, about half a head taller than him, which surprised him since he himself was quite tall, nearing 6,4 feet but still fell short to this guy, he was wearing a the same armor as we all were but way bigger in size, looking down, he notice the scabbard on his waist was missing.
"Where is his weapon?" though himself as the guy didn't have a scabbard or was holding any kind of weapon in his other hand, then he notice something different which attracted his attention .
"His gauntlets are red?" as he looked closely and noticed the difference between his and the rest, "no, that is not it, they are stain by some kind of liquid" immediately though of what he hoped was wrong but already knew the answer
"blood"
Looking at his bloodied gauntlets, he moved his head to stare at the men still holding him, then he noticed something a few feet in front of him, a person laid on the ground, facing the sky as if he had just decided to lay there to rest, but what shocked Alex was how he looked, his face was so disfigured he seemed hardly human, and from his appearance, one would barely know he was a fellow man, blood was gaping for every orifice he had and the dry ground was moist from the blood that continued to form a bigger pool around his face at each passing moment,
"HAHAHAA!!!, what feeling scared or cat gout your tongue" he said, noticing Alex reaction, believing he was staring and him and getting scared.
Hearing those words Alex parted his gaze with what he could only consider a corpse, and looked back at the men who was laughing and mocking him at the same time, anger began to manifest inside him as his eyes became cold, as he though what was in front of him was not even a living begin anymore and painful memories began to surface once again.
"WHY, why does this type of trash exist" he began to question himself as he remembered what happened years ago.
It was his sophomore year of high school, his second period had just started which was PE, one of his favorite classes as he was the kind of person who liked to move around rather than be sited in a classroom for hours, but this day he decided to sit on a corned of the gym, not feeling well, or more specific, he was anxious.
His little sister surgery was today, ever since she was born she was alway been praised for how amazingly smart she was, learning how to speak earlier that other kids was but the start of it, in lest that two years she could easily read difficult books, when she was five answering mathematical problem of high school level was something she did as a hobby, everyone was impressed and shower her with praises.
"A genius uh"
But as they say, god give you but also takes from you.
She was born with a very weak body, spend most of her life in a hospital bed, unable to walk, run, play, do sports, what is a smart mind worth when you couldn't even stand up to turn off the light of your own room? it felt as if she was in a prison known as hospital, hell!, I seen convicts having more freedom that her in tv!.
But still i love my sister, not once did she complained by her sorry situation, not once did she broke under the gazes of pity she was given by anyone who learned of her situation, not once she gave into the hopeless situation she was in, her eyes, always full of hope and determination that one day she would one day she will recover and break free from her cell.
That was my little sister, the youngest of the family, but with the aspiration and dreams bigger and brighter than any of us combine, was now she was facing her hardest choice in her life, a treatment was finally discovered, it would improve her health and together with continuous physical therapy and monitoring she could start to walk for the first time, maybe run and exercise in the far future, but every good thing bring his risk.
She needed surgery, the reason why, lost in my sea of memory as my anxiousness and desire to see her happy clouded my ears, it would be a long one, putting lots of stress on her already weak body, the chances of succeeding were not favorable but we all knew her health was getting worse each passing day, after hours of delivering, angry shout, curses and tear my sister made the final decision, she look toward us and gave us her most charming smile while just saying a few words.
"I will take it"
