Elsewhere in an office, staring at an image on a screen, a man sighs. The image on the screen is an extremely dark cloud over a walled off district. "Bet the ground is the same as the sky. A new source of corruption is here, how wonderful. May mercy shine on those guards, for what's in there will have none." The man looks out the window, staring in the direction of the district.

"This respawn is too slow! By the time it gets anywhere it could be a hundred years from now!" Malorn, is currently not happy, the spawner is way too slow. While it seemed like a good idea in the beginning, he's started to think otherwise. After three days of spawning it's a small amount, not counting the day worth he killed for xp. He was also looking at an skill he earned.
[Congrats for earning a new skill from hard work, Undead Dominance(Basic)]
[Undead Dominance(Basic): Basic form of the absolute form of the skill. Lich Path of evolution open. Undead listen to user, the living fear you.]
"So, a wonderful way to advance further. Wait! Was I not able to advance before!" [User was but it would be a random pick based off of species. Zombie would turn into a corpse eater by tier 4, losing sense of self while doing so. Lich goes far keeping sense of self while losing flesh in the process.] "A skeleton!? Those weak as hell crapshoots? Even games have no faith in skeletons of any kind." [User then can prove them wrong, as a skeleton even poisons that affect flesh won't affect you] "So...I'd be a skeleton but a lich?" [Skeletons and lich are two similar species and are different, skeletons can evolve into a lich eventually.] Looking at it another way, Malorn could indeed become a lich. But of the passive variety. "Wait, can I make this district into a hub by which a spread death to the rest of the world as my own domain? But traveling out and about would not be ideal. Staying put and building a heavily fortified fortress would be a better idea." With that stated, he first had to take the walls and the gate.
'system what is my xp amount?'
[XP: 1,510]
"Upgrade the spawner, once if you could."
[cost 1000xp| Y/N] Taking no time to decide, he agreed with the price. He already tried haggling the price for a simple structure, it only went up instead before he canceled. With a small flash the spawner now had a #2 on the front of it above the glowing doorway.
[Undead spawner will now spawn 1 undead every 45min] "Well that's faster alright, What's the price for a basic upgrade to the generator?"
[cost:100k]
"RIP-OFF!" [If host tries to haggle, price will double] "Ugh, never mind, not that I even have enough anyway. Can I use this xp on myself to strengthen?" [Only with skills or evolutions] "Sometimes I hate this system.... Where does system personality come from?" [Based on host, so arguing with system is arguing with one's self] "That actually makes some sense. Can these undead gain xp for me?" [As they were created by proxy of the host, yes. Every creature you tame or create from skills or buildings will give you the xp for their kills. System also warns you that normal creatures have no idea what you are saying as it sounds to them like air escaping a tire] "Eh? Why does that matter?" As Malorn speaks he notices out of the corner of his eye that a red dot is moving on the ground from the direction on the gate. The dot slid over a zombie and the zombie turned to ash instantly. And worst of all it's coming in his direction. [System advises host to get in his house or be turned to ash]
Taking the system's advice Malorn turned and ran into the house calling Bill to follow him. Just in time too as the dot reached where he had been before. The dot then enlarged from an inch in diameter to 5 feet in diameter. It stayed that way for roughly 10min before disappearing. "Thank the holy system for helping me live through that." Looking out the doorway he saw the 5 feet in diameter scorch mark on the black grass and cement, even scorching the steps where bill was previously. With new found motivation he decided to figure out that gate asap.
