"Pardon me my lords" Amelia said in a cheerful voice while she made her way to the center of the room where she placed the tray and proceeded to serve the tea. "I must apologize for my husband's shortcomings. After being couped up in here he still neglected to offer any refreshment."
Amelia lifted her gazed and gave Michael a stern look. He kept on following her every move with a smile plaster om his face.
"What should I ever do with you?" Amelia asked with an ever to serious tone. However, her tone did nothing for Michael who in return met her with a mischievous grin.
"I have an idea sweetheart," His grin grew wider. The naughtiness of his implication managed to completely erases the worries that had filled his mind not a minute ago. The worry was gone, and in its place, happiness and enchantment had arrived. For Michael it was always impossible to have any sort of negative feeling around his wife. She was his cure and happy pill, which was knowledge that was known by everyone in the realm.
However, in Amelia's mind, her husband's love was no excuse to make such comments in public. As her cheeks turned red from embarrassment she threw him a look that promised punishment and not exactly the kind he was hoping for.
After what felt like forever, Ezequiel could no longer take the uncomfortable feeling in the air. Michael's comment has shocked and offended lady Amelia, but as he looked around the room, he noticed that both his father and Trinity were not bother on the slightest. It almost looked as if they were used to this kind of attitude from Lord Michael that it was considered normal under their standards.
It was then that it hit Ezequiel. His father and Lord Michael must be close. His mother often told him of the adventures his father went in when he was younger. Adventures that always included someone by the name of Michael and for him it now just clicked that the Michael his mother referred to was noon other than this Michael. Lord Michael the Archangel. But if they were so close and cared about each other as much as it looks then why have they grown so distant. Yes, every time they encountered each other at events or what not it was as if they were the best of friends but if indeed they were the best of friends why were the families so distant. Ezequiel made a mental note to ask his mother when he sees her next. This was a mystery that he wanted to solve.
Ezequiel was lost in his thoughts when he felt a calming presence in front of him. Then a cup of tea was on his face. He looked up only to be met by the enchanting smile of lady Amelia.
Lady Amelia's beauty was breathtakingly out of this world. She was simply a divine creature and there was absolutely no one who could deny this fact. Just like Michael and Yazakiel and all divine creatures Amelia looked much younger than she was. This was a perk of being an immortal. Both angels and demons always stopped aging when they reached a certain age and although the age always varied it was always between 27 and 35. For Amelia she looked in her late twenties.
Ezequiel was unable to stop himself from staring at her. Her presence was just to calming and in one word smooth. There was no ill coming from her only love.
"Boy don't keep lady Amelia waiting," Yazakiel shouted at Ezequiel who had frozen. "Take the cup."
"Pardon me my lady" Ezequiel responded as soon as he was freed from his enchantment. He cleared his throat and reached for the teacup that Amelia was handing to him.
"It is quite alright," Lady Amelia replied as she turned around and proceeded to serve tea to the remaining three gentlemen.
"Now tell me boy why have I not seen you here before," Amelia asked while she sat down in front of Ezequiel, "Your brother Azael spends most of his free time here, but you, you are much like your father. Only an urgent matter could make you visit us."
"My brother does indeed have a lot of free time on his hands."
"One must always make time for ourselves. Work is not all in life."
"You are right lady Amelia," Yazakiel contributed "That is what I always tell this son of mine. He needs to learn to live."
"Oh, Yazi you are not the best to give that advise. You spend more time working than anyone I know."
Out of nowhere a pearl of laughter was heard coming from Michael. "My sweet wife got you there old friend." Michael continued laughing, "Your son is indeed much like you, but listen to me and learn to live otherwise you will end a grumpy ogre just like him."
"Michael!" Amelia was about to scold her husband.
"An ogre who can still take you," Yazakiel could not help himself but blurt out.
"A challenge, how lovely," Michael thought to himself and then with a menacing smile he looked at Yazakiel, "Whenever you are ready, I am right here."
"You two seriously never change. You still behave like children. Learn from them Ezequiel and Trinity. That's how you should not behave."
"Wife, he started it."
"Exactly my point."
At all this, Trinity, who up to this point had been nothing but an onlooker could not help but laugh. It was amazing to see the many faces that his lord Michael had. For his part Ezequiel only nodded taking in Amelia's words.
Amelia on the other hand was a bit disappointed that even this child-like moment had done nothing to loosen Ezequiel up.
"Boy you sure are a tough cookie," Amelia commented while taking a sip from her tea.
After the laughter had gone down Yazakiel stood up, "It looks like we have overstayed our visit, it is time for us to take our leave."
Then turning to Michael he said meaningfully, "We will depart on the eleventh hours. Darkness is better to vacuum those creatures."
Then turning to Amelia, Yazakiel vowed and gave her one of those rare smiles. "My lady..."
Amelia for her part step forward and embraces him. "It was good to see you dear friend. Don't disappear on us again. Even if he doesn't say it out loud my husband has missed you."
Yazakiel only nodded. Always a man of a few words.
Ezequiel than stepped forward and vowed to say his goodbye.
Amelia then reached out to him and with a motherly touch, caressed the top of his head.
"May you be kept safe and that whatever it is that you encounter in this mission you come out in triumph."
Ezequiel looked up and simply nodded an unspoken thank you.
Amelia smiled and patted his back, "Like father like son."
Trinity who was by the entranced open the door, "I will walk you out."
As the father and son duo were leaving, Michael felt the need to grab Ezequiel by the arm. Ezequiel stoped and looked at him with an indifferent expression,
"Be careful son,"
"Yes, sir," Ezequiel did not understand the worry in Michael's voice. This was the first time he had met him.
As the three men left the meeting room Amelia made her way to her husband who was now sitting down on his grand chair. She sat comfortable on his lab than reached for his arms and wrapped them around her waist. She leaned against his sturdy chest and simply breathed in his scent which was always just calming to her.
"You can't fight destiny my love. You already tried to lock her up inside these walls and it did not go well. I know you are scared. I am scared as well, but we must let it happen. What's meant to be cannot be changed not even by you."
Michael responded by giving her a fleeting kiss on her forehead, "I know."
