Skylar's POV
The revelation hung in the air like a heavy mist, enveloping us in a blanket of disbelief. "I just saw him," I admitted to Jace, my voice barely above a whisper, still shaken by the encounter at the mall.
"Saw who?" Jace's eyes narrowed with curiosity.
"Cain," I replied, watching the gravity of my words settle over him and the pack who had gathered, their expressions shifting from mourning to bewilderment.
"Cain's dead," someone muttered from the crowd.
"I thought so too," I said, frustration lacing my words. "But he called himself Gabriel. He denied being Cain."
A ripple of murmurs spread through the pack, their collective confusion mirroring my own. Jace stepped forward, his gaze locked with mine. "Are you sure, Skylar?"
"I'm sure. It was him, but something's off," I confessed, my mind still trying to make sense of the conflicting pieces.
