Chapter 13 - Chapter 12: The One Who Wields The Poisonous Blade

She stood at the edge of the house, her blond hair shining like it had its own spotlight, and her blue eyes sparkling as if they where made out of diamonds. I mean, that's what I saw, but let's face it, I probably have a concussion.

The demon took a few steps back, his remaining arm raised as if it alone would be enough to protect him. "You!"

Madelyn, with a devilish smile that I swear only added to her hotness factor, began to walk forward, her sword already in hand. She pointed the tip of the blade towards the demon. "You won't get away this time." She said with cold eyes.

As Madelyn advanced towards the demon, a flicker of concern flashed in her eyes as she glanced at me. Her gaze softened, and she spoke with urgency, her voice cutting through the tension-filled air. "Get back, now!"

Without wasting a moment, I scooped up my mother, who was still unconscious, and dashed towards the edge of the house.

"Mom," I said, glancing down at her face covered in small streams of blood. "Dammit, please wake up," I begged, hoping my plea would somehow penetrate her unconscious state as I carefully positioned my mother against the wall.

"Do you really think you're doing that boy a kindness?" the demon asked, his voice dripping with sinister amusement. "Do you think you're saving him?"

Madelyn remained silent, her focus unwavering as she continued to look ahead.

"Honestly, I think I'm doing him a kindness," the demon declared, eyeing me with a mixture of malice and pity.

"Enough," Madelyn snapped, her patience wearing thin. "Whatever his fate may be..." She paused. "It's not for you to decide." With those words, she assumed a fighting stance, her blade raised and ready.

I held my mom close as I turned my head and looked towards Madelyn. "Be careful," I thought

It all happened in what seemed to be an instant. The air crackled with tension as two powers clashed together, creating powerful explosions that shook the very foundation of the already destroyed house. Damn, we really couldn't catch a break. I mean, come on, I just wanted a peaceful night in for once!

Madelyn's fight with the demon was a blur of swift and calculated movements. Both combatants moved with astonishing speed, their bodies a whirlwind of power and agility. Honestly, it felt like my eyes were about to fall out of their sockets as I did my best to keep track of them, but all I saw was a blur.

It only took a few moments for the battle to intensify, debris flew through the air, propelled by the sheer force of their clashes. I shielded my mother from the flying shards and fragments, using my body as a barrier to protect her from harm. It's too bad, it really wasn't doing much for me. I mean, this shit hurts like hell.

But soon, the pain stopped, and everything went quiet.

"What happened?" I asked, turning to look behind me, only to see Madelyn and the demon standing face to face, their eyes locked in a fierce stare-down.

Madelyn, her grip on her sword unwavering, continued to hold her blade pointed towards the demon, ready to strike at a moment's notice.

But instead of fear or intimidation, the demon began to laugh, a bone-chilling sound that made it clear it was having the time of its demonic life.

"You pillars really are an annoyance," the demon sneered, its voice dripping with contempt.

"Damn Taoreta," she muttered under her breath, inching forward ever so slightly.

The demon's laughter grew louder, echoing through the house. "A name given to my kind by you humans," it said, walking forward with an air of superiority. "It's too bad you don't know the full story, the true story," the demon added with what seemed to be irritation, as if annoyed by our ignorance.

"Ignorant indeed!" The demon yelled, its dark aura growing stronger, causing the wind itself to go wild.

I covered my face with my left arm, hoping to shield myself and my mother from the raging winds.

"Yes, it is best for you to die ignorant!" The demon bellowed, extending its hand with a menacing grin.

I let loose a shout of warning as long, thin blades that shimmered with a malevolent purple light raced towards Madelyn.

In an instant Madelyn's movements became fluid and elegant, as if she were a graceful dancer on a deadly stage. She effortlessly evaded the demon's long, thin purple blades, spinning and twirling with a nimbleness that seemed impossible. Her keen reflexes allowed her to anticipate the demon's attacks, dodging and sidestepping with impeccable timing.

I looked towards the distance to see one of the glowing purple blades make contact with the walls and furniture, causing them to melt and release a noxious odor into the air.

"Poison," I muttered, covering my nose and trying to create as much distance as possible from the blades.

"Annoying indeed," the demon sneered, his smile disappearing. His frustration was evident as he witnessed Madelyn's skillful defense. In a swift motion, he unleashed a flurry of strikes, his blades slashing through the air with renewed ferocity.

Madelyn continued to move gracefully around the house, dodging every strike with the finesse of a seasoned dancer.

"Try this!" the demon yelled, his voice dripping with malice.

I looked up as the blades extended outward, connecting together to form a net that would shred anything it ensnared.

Madelyn brought her sword back, her muscles bulging with effort as her grip tightened. Her hair began to stand on end, crackling with static electricity as a whirlwind formed around her sword.

With a primal scream, Madelyn unleashed all her strength, bringing her sword down with a force that seemed to shake the very foundation of the house.

"BOOM!"

An ear-piercing explosion ripped through the air, throwing me and my mother several feet back as a massive blast of wind erupted from the impact point. Dust filled the air, but even through the haze, I could see that the whole front side of the house was completely obliterated, and the ground itself bore a massive gash etched into it.

As the dust settled, I could only stare in awe at the destruction Madelyn had wrought. If there was ever any doubt about her badassery, it was definitely gone now.

The demon said nothing as he looked towards the massive hole made by Madelyn. Slowly, he turned his head back towards Madelyn and extended his arm, his palm facing downward.

A foul odor filled the air, and the demon's grin returned. "You brought this on yourself," it said, its voice dripping with venom.

Thick purple liquid flowed from its palm, swiftly transforming into a sword-like shape that bubbled like scalding hot water.

"My name is Zoganoth," the demon declared, his voice echoing with menace. "Wielder of the poisonous blade."
