BANG
Holden's test scripts was dropped on his desk and the teacher stared at him with a look of disapproval. It happened again, he got an F in Literature. No matter how much he tried to picture himself reading he just couldn't do it. He tried audio reading but he always fell asleep half way through it. He tried reading out loud but it sounded more miserable than when he read in his mind.
Now his step mom was on to him. If he was not able to pass through literature class with a good result this year, she would strip him of all his rights for an entire week. That was like killing him, only that he would still be alive and breathing but his soul would be dead.
" Yay an A", he heard the girl in front of him exclaim as she stared at her results proudly. She always had straight A's at this class, why not ask her to help him study? He didn't think it would have to come to this but he already guessed it, he needed a Nerd's help.
" Okay class I guess you have all seen your results and I hope you try to improve on your self except you want to be sitting in this class, next year, with me, okay no assignments today, I am really tired and I need a good visit to the spa", the teacher Miss Willows said and just afterwards the school bell rang and all the students began to disperse heading to the last class before closing.
Well literature wasn't the last class for today, the next period was, so almost everyone would be heading to their next class and that girl wasn't in his next class, Art.
Holden looked ahead and found her fumbling with her locker keys and headed straight to her. " Hey", he said in his usual male voice that had girls dripping with influence and she let her eyes wander to him. " Holden? What are you doing here?", she asked him straight forwardly.
The nerd knew his name, he wasn't surprised but the question was did he know hers. He tried searching but he barely payed attention to anyone, how should he know her name? He needed her help so he just thought of the best thing to say
" Hey Brownie, I need help studying, I've seen you at literature classes and you always have Straight A's, I don't need straight A's even a C would do me good, I just need a good tutor", he said in the most polite way he could think of but he was literally dumbfounded at her response.
"No", she said to have Holden stare at her blankly. He found himself repeating the words she just said because he was still in shock. " No, why No?", he asked her frowning. She sighed and adjusted her round glasses. " I'm too busy Holden, having someone to tutor would be a lot of work, someone else can help you, you just have to ask anyone and they would literally be right there but I'm not that one, I've got to head to class", she said sweetly and left Holden standing by her locker.
" Oh I almost forgot to shut my locker", she said and shut it before running away from his view. She had history and she couldn't afford to be late, the teacher and her were a bit close so it would be a shame on her part if she arrived late.
Mabel didn't know what to think. Today was pretty weird. Well only just now was weird because Holden Langford spoke to her. Holden was a cute snob who barely had time for anyone. All he ever did was look good, party when he wanted to and be there for his brother.
She didn't have any feelings for Holden like the other girls in her school who fasted and prayed just to get Holden to look at them. Infact she was totally normal, too normal you would say for a girl of seventeen. She had brown hair and blue eyes with pale skin. Her glasses mostly hid her eyes and she was always dressed in oversized clothings for you to not notice her.
Having no friends but herself, Mabel Cee was a total loner.
She arrived at History class just in time and didn't get in trouble. Well she already told Holden Langford she couldn't help him so there was no need dwelling on it. She paid all her attention to her lecture, History was critical and it needed good listeners.
After art class, Holden met up with his step brother Jace by his locker. He was unable to concentrate in Art class today.Well no one had ever refused Holden Langford, he always got what he wanted from both girls and guys. Girls who wanted to date him and guys who wanted to be his tight buds, the nerd refusing him was a lot strange in his life.
" Holden what's up? You've been hooked up on memory lane for too long?", Jace asked concerned as they walked down the hallway with girls staring at them like it was a normal thing. They were barely affected, after all they were used to it.
Holden stared at Jace reluntact to tell him about what happened but later decided on telling him. "You know how I always fail Literature and Mom is just like, Holden if you don't make it through that damn class this year, I'm going to confiscate your phone, your credit card and even your house permit", he asked Jace mimicking how his step mother always does it.
Jace chuckled and nodded. " Well there's this nerd in my class who is so good at Literature and she literally has straight A's and I wanted her to tutor me", he said and Jace smiled. " Well if you want her to tutor you, all you have to do is ask Bro, the lady is so going to be ready", Jace said with confidence as they got to their car.
" No she's not, she's not going to help me study because she's too busy", Holden said and Jace didn't believe him either. " Are you speaking for her just because you can't ask her to help you?", Jace asked emphasizing more on the word help.
" No Jace she's not going to help me because she's too busy and she told me that herself", He said and got into the car and started the engine. Jace got in and shut the door immediately. He was just about to comment on what Holden said when a brown haired hit his window panting hard like she was out of breath and it scared the witts out of him. " What the heck, who are you?", he said as he got out of the car and so did Holden.
" Sorry Jace, I just wanted to tell Holden something", Jace was confused and looked at her from up to down. " Are you the nerd stuck on my brother's head?", he asked and she finally regained herself and asked in return, "What?".
