Synopsis
Humanity has harnessed augmented virtual technology for years but on the 25th of january 2130 the first and only virtual world was released: New World. A second world that humans could enter in their sleep and that even accelerated time by a factor of 1,5. To say this game was a landmark moment would be an understatement, up to 70% of all humans in 2133 had played or were playing regularly. Augustin Vraken wasn't some godly player, neither was he oppressed, his existence was normal until he found something, something that shouldn't have been there. He could make a wish, he wished to go back in time, to before the cataclysm and before the release of New World.

Chapter 1 - Start

Augustin had found something that shouldn't have been there. He had found code in a historical book from the imperial library. The code was extremely sophisticated and he would have never have found it if it wasn't for his class talent [codemaster], the talent was from the tier 2 spy class and allowed him to discover the presence of secret codes with ease. Augustin was still surprised that a code came this close to staying undetected by him. He had decoded the secret code of the red brotherhood but this one had nearly passed under his nose.

Having his curiosity piqued he got to cracking it only to realise it would take way more effort than he thought, but the presence of code inside a two hundred year old historical record was too interesting a secret to pass onto. After a few sleepless nights he had finally found what matrix to pass the text through.

The message he got was "The gargoyle that guards art will grant a wish if you release it from its eternal service".

Not being great at riddles, Augustin struggled until he realised that in the art section of the library there was a gargoyle.

After getting to the gargoyle he realised he had no idea of what to do, he tried pressing different surfaces, scratching, a drop of blood and even talking to it. He wasn't a mage and couldn't deploy sound barriers but it being 2 in the morning meant that making noise was not a problem. After half an hour of prodding the 2 and a half metre tall statue he decided to try hitting it. He put on gloves from his spatial bag and got ready.

He first went with 25% of his strength which coming from a tier 3 spy master was 21, this was already twice the strength of a normal human. He could feel the statue trembling a bit after hitting it once but it was still whole.

He hit it a second time with 70% of his strength, this time breaking it in half. It was then that he saw it, a blindingly bright crystal. Before taking the crystal he cast analyse on it, the only thing that came back was the name of the crystal [wish crystal]. The instant he touched the crystal he could hear a voice.

"Make your wish"

The simple sentence astonished Augustin, how could a crystal grant a wish. Why was it there, who put it there ? Not being able to answer either he asked the question that was on his mind the second he read the name of the crystal.

"Can I wish to go back in time" asked Augustin

"Yes" answered the crystal

"I wish to go back to the day before New World launched"

Augustin's vision faded to complete darkness the second he expressed his wish.
