"Why are we doing this again Raya?" Serene said to her best friend who seemed a little too giddy. 'Don't get me wrong sky diving seems fun, but I don't think I could ever do it. I've never been in an airplane, let alone a helicopter, and now she's expecting me to skydive with her?' Serene thought.
"Oh, don't worry! It'll be fun! Plus, I heard the guy we're flying with is very skilled. They say he graduated top of his class and he's around our age." Raya said the last part with a sly smile. Knowing it's basically impossible to convince her friend otherwise, Serene just sighs and rubs her temples.
Eventually, the time comes for the two girls to go on the helicopter. The two have been practicing for weeks, especially Serene. This, unsurprisingly, wasn't Raya's first-time sky diving. She received her license a long time ago and worked for the sky diving company as an instructor. She thought this would be a fun experience, and so, with endless pleading, she managed to convince Serene to skydive with her.
"I'm so nervous I feel like my heart is about to explode," Serene said feeling her heartbeat heavily inside of her chest.
"Don't worry you'll be fine! You have me and I'm one of the more experienced skydiving instructors. Not to mention, even if you wanted to-"
"I don't want to jump alone, never ever!" Serene said cutting Raya off.
"Well even if you wanted to you can't, it's against the rules to let a newbie jump alone," Raya said finishing off her sentence properly this time.
"I already know that."
"I know you know Serene... I've been watching you study at night..." Raya said in a jokingly tone as they neared the helicopter they'd be flying in.
Once they had arrived at the helicopter, Serene noticed a figure. It was a man with dirty blonde hair in a bun with dark brown eyes, he was standing near the aircraft. 'He must be our pilot, Raya did say he was around our age.' Serene thought.
"Hello ladies, the name's Nicholas Somer, but you could just call me Nick. I'll be your pilot for today." the blonde-haired man said. They all went over safety one last time before setting off.
As Serene felt the plane lift into the air, she could feel her anxiety really kicking in now. Her arms and legs were shaking vigorously and couldn't stop. The higher they went the more sweaty her palms got and the harder it felt for her to breathe. Raya noticed her friend's behavior and tried to calm her nerves down.
"If you're this nervous, maybe we could do this another time. I don't want you to pass out or something."
"No way! I've already made it this far! I'd feel bad if we had to go back down after making it this high up already. I can do this!" Serene said confidently. Her body started to calm down and she felt her shaking eventually come to a stop. She could still feel her heart throbbing inside of her chest, but after a few deep breaths, she was ok.
Once they neared the appropriate sky diving height, Nick started to notice something a bit off about the weather. The forecast said it'd be one of the sunniest days today and yet... there were grey clouds.
"Hey ladies! The clouds look a bit grey, I think there's about to be a thunderstorm! Y'all sure you want to go through with this?!" Nick yelled looking back towards the girls. Confused by this the two finally decided to look outside of the window. Raya couldn't believe her eyes, the sky was completely dark. She looked at her phone to check the time and it said 2:47 pm, how was this possible?
"What's going on? Why is the sky so dark? It's barely even six!" Serene said feeling her nerves from earlier coming back.
"Calm down, they're probably just rain clouds! Although, I've never seen any this dark." Raya said curiously about the situation they're currently in. Raya decided to open the door from the amount of disbelief she had. "It's pitch black out there! It doesn't even look like rain clouds, just pure darkness!"
Soon after her statement, the helicopter shook. Raya slipped and barely caught herself with the door. She started to feel her hands slipping. "RAYA!!!" Serene yelled after her friend. She immediately took off her seat belt buckles and went over to help her friend.
"Serene! I'm so sorry this was a bad idea!" Raya said as her friend pulled her up. Thankfully, Serene made it in time.
"Nick take us back to land! There's no way we could skydive in these conditions, especially with this wind!" Raya yelled. The two girls stood up after recomposing themselves but after that incident Serene's legs were quivering. She couldn't stand up straight, with the strong winds that hit the aircraft right as she some-what managed to stand up, she slipped and fell out of the helicopter before Raya could finish closing the door. All that Raya heard was her friend screaming in fear as she fell into the dark void and it haunted her.
