Tristan looked at Asher in confusion. Sighing, Ash quickly told him about his water ability. Tristan was so excited that he forgot to ask Ash how he knew and rushed into the lake fully clothed.
"Whoa! Ash, I think I got my power!" Tristan called out after ten hours of being soaked in the lake water.
"Finally..." Ash groaned out as he strode out of the mansion.
In his previous life, water was the weakest ability but Tristan was the only one able to make it stronger and use it for both offense and defense.
From his memory of what Tristan did in his previous life time, Asher instructed him Tristan on how to use the water ability. Soon, he mastered the water shield, water whip and water arrow. Then, after getting the hang of it, he began to practice by himself.
During this time, Asher began to ponder if he could use his darkness ability to hide himself from the zombies.
Zombies rely on their sense of hearing as they are both blind and can not smell. Because of this, their sense of hearing is more advance than most humans.
"What if I am able to cover myself in my own shadow, and muffle the noise I make?" Asher said thoughtfully.
---
60 day has passed in Asher's space. During this time, the two men had spent it training with each other. Asher's lightning ability leveled up to B class, rank 3. His progress had greatly slowed down compared to the beginning but Ash was happy! In a short amount of time, he leveled up to rank 3 lightning ability!
He was finally at ease since the zombies in the beginning were slow and only leveled up during the Purple Moon Cycle a few months later.
Speaking of abilities, Asher was at A class, rank 1 space and D class, rank 1 darkness. Tristan was able to raise his water ability to C class, level 1.
During their time in training, Tristan finally found out that the apocalypse was near. He had no family besides the young masters so he was relived. Ash told him that he had the power to see parts of the future but Tristan had a feeling that there was more to it than what Ash was telling him but he never questioned Asher.
When the two men finally exited Ash's space, the two of them looked like total different people Ash and Trist resembled Greek gods with their toned muscles and defined abs.
Standing in Ash's room, Trist and Ash were smirking at each other when all of a sudden a male voice said while knocking on my room door, "Fifth Young Master, may I come in and give you a checkup?"
Spending around 2 months in space, the two of them forgot that Ash had a doctor visit. After all, 60 days in space equaled 2 hours on earth. When Dr. Lin came in and saw Ash, he dropped his medical kit.
"Young Master?!" He exclaimed in fright.
'Was this really fifth young master? Why is he suddenly taller than me?' Dr. Lin wondered in confusion.
Asher raised an eyebrow.
"Yes?"
Dr. Lin cleared his throat.
"Sorry, I haven't seen you since you first broke your arm a month ago. I got a little shocked there." Dr. Lin explained.
Asher nodded and allowed the Doctor to examine him thoroughly.
"It seems to me you are perfectly healthy. I will tell Master Greyson you can return to the University starting Monday."
"Alright." Asher replied before frowning.
'I need to warn Dr. Lin about doomsday. He was one of the few people who actually treated me with kindness.'
"Dr. Lin, in the next few days, can you gather medical supplies ranging from average cough medicine to prescription medication, as well as operating tables and tools?"
"Alright, but may I ask what for?"
"The apocalypse."
"Yeah, right." Dr. Lin laughed.
Ash did not want to expose his abilities to Dr. Lin like he did to Tristan as he did not fully trust him. Dr. Lin was the only doctor who treated Asher's and Kyle's wounds correctly which was far better than those other doctors that smudged dirt into their wounds on purpose. But, Dr. Lin was one of the people that helped him in the past, so Ash felt a need to protect him.
"Just gather the supplies before Monday and send them to the Greyson estate. I would also like for you to accompany me to the University as my attending Doctor. "
Dr. Lin looked at Ash in confusion before nodding. He turned around to leave but not before Asher warned, "And if you see a Purple Moon high in the night sky before you meet with me, call me immediately."
'Before the phone signal shuts off soon...' Ash thought the last part.
---
After Dr. Lin left, Asher was surfing the internet when Tristan came into his room.
"Young Master, Master Greyson requests your presence at dinner."
"Okay, Trist."
'What did father want with me now?' Ash wondered.
Asher put away his gray laptop and followed Tristan to the dining room.
The dining room was grand and spacious. The dining room table was very large and adorned with gold and silver print.
The floor was polished to perfection and a grand chandelier that was worth about a million dollars hung on the ceiling right above the glass table.
At the large glass table was Asher's family. His 2nd older half -brother sat on the left side, while his half-sister Rene sat on the opposite end with my 1st older brother. Ash's stepmother sat at the end of the table while his father sat on the other end.
Asher sat down at his usual place which was the farthest away from them. The black haired youth did not spare them a single glance.
The food was served. Asher had his usual salad while his siblings and parents had various exquisite dishes. The family ate in silence except for the occasional clink of metal from the spoons, knives and forks.
"Asher."
Ash looked up. It was his father speaking. His father's red eyes gleamed with youth, a sharp contrast to his old appearance. Asher's father had a handsome face that girls might have swooned over in his younger days. He had blonde hair that was beginning to turn gray and slight wrinkles around his mouth and forehead.
Asher did not respond. The man just simply sat there and waited from his father to continue speaking.
His father said, "Dr. Lin has informed me that you have recovered and thus shall be sent back to the University."
Ash nodded his head, not wishing to speak to him. Ash narrowed his eyes at his father's facial expression. It looked like a mixture of guilt, worry and regret.
'Why?'
"Ahem!" My father cleared his throat, "It seems as if you are...healthier?" He asked, unsure.
'Oh, was it because I did not look malnourished anymore?' Ash thought.
"Yes." Was all Ash said to him before he picked up his fork and began to attack his chicken salad.
"Asher..." My father said hesitantly as Asher was about to take a bite.
'Ughhh... What was it now? Please let me eat in peace!' Asher thought.
"Please send my regards to James for placing 2nd in the entire school." My father said.
Asher's eyebrows scrunched together in confusion.
'Why couldn't he do so himself? And what about Kyle? Even though he was an illegitimate son, he was still his son and Kyle ranked 1st.'
Asher frowned, "What about Kyle? Isn't he also your son?"
"Asher!" Ash's step mother yelled sharply, giving him a disapproving gaze.
Asher's step mother was wearing a long V-neck dress and her neck was adorned with big white pearls. She had short blonde hair that was clipped to the side with a fancy diamond hair clip.
Ash's step mother was the only one in the family that had a different eye color. While Kyle and Ash were the only one in the family with different hair colors.
Kyle and Ash inherited their black hair from their mother while James, Rene, Brent and Cane inherited their blonde hair from both their mother and his father.
Everyone had red eyes except for Ash's step mother. She had blue eyes. Red eyes were only passed down through the Greyson bloodline.
Thinking about red eyes, Ash remembered their childhood friend Royce Pierce. He had brown eyes but wore red colored contact lenses.
When Kyle and Asher were younger, before they came to the Greyson estate, the two of them used to get picked on a lot because of their strange eye color. The two little boys only had each other. One particular day when Ash was at home sick, Kyle, who was at preschool, was being bullied.
But he was saved by the new boy named Royce. Royce had brown eyes and white hair. He also wore thick circle rimmed glasses. After finding out why Kyle and Asher were bullied, he got prescription contact lenses that were colored red.
Seeing this, the little 3 year-olds did not dare mess with the three boys, after all, who would dare bully the Pierce's family's only young master?
Ever since then, Kyle and Royce were stuck together like super glue. Royce would always remember to wear his colored contact lenses.
The twin's mom was once the Greyson's family maid but when she got pregnant with the twins, she was fired. The twin's mother's name was Jules.
Jules was a beautiful young woman at the time. She had long and luscious black hair. Her eyes were a deep chocolate hue and her laughter was like an angel's.
Jules had an amazing voice and Asher still remember that when Kyle and himself were younger, she would sing the two boys a lullaby. But it has been so long that Ash had forgotten the lyrics. He only remembers the melody.
When their mom died and the twins had to move to the Greyson estate and change schools, Roy used his influence to support and follow the twins, well it was mainly due to his obsession with Kyle.
Thus, every year, the three boys were always in the same class. But during their 3rd year in University, the they were also in the same class as James.
James and the three men got along quite well surprisingly. Ash himself never really talked to him much, even at home because Kyle and Ash were always holed up in or room or at the boarding school dorms. But, Asher's previous life, they actually became close friends during the senior year of high school.
Asher's father just grunted in response, which showed Ash that he really did not acknowledge Kyle and himself as his sons. At the same time, Asher's half siblings were silently sneering at him in utter disdain.
Brent smirked at Ash, "Kyle and you can not be considered part of the prestigious Greyson family. You two are just a thorn in our sides. Humph. Your slut of a mother drugged and crawled in our fathers bed. You two are bastard children."
"Yeah, little brother. Your mother was a poor slave who tried to snatch a golden thigh, too bad that bitch got kicked out the Greyson estate when she was pregnant and died three years after." My 1st older brother Cane chimed in.
Rene clinged to Cane's left shoulder and pouted cutely before saying delicately, "Big Brother Cane, don't concern yourself with that loser."
Cane smiled at Rene, "Big Brother will listen to little sister."
Asher was disgusted by their lovey-dovey act. And thinking about what they called his mother, Ash clenched his first under the table, trying to control his anger.
Although he was extremely mad, Asher managed to keep his face passive and said, "1st older brother and 2nd older brother, I want an apology. My mother is not a slut. Have you forgotten it was father who drugged my mother, not the other way around?"
"No way!" Cane and Rene yelled at the same time Brent yelled, "In your dreams trash!"
"Apologize." Asher said with a cold glint in my eyes.
Asher noticed how Brent and Cane were shivering from his cold glare. All of a sudden, Brent stood up from his chair and banged both of his hands on the glass table.
"This little-!" Brent exclaimed but was cut off by their father.
"Now, now. No fighting at the dinner table." Their father said.
Ash smirked when he saw how red and angry Brent's, Rene's and Cane's face was. Both of them were as red as a tomato.
After a period of silence, my step mother said, "Asher, you need to improve in your school work. Don't make the Greyson name a joke. Look at James, he is the same age as you and is in second place in the entire school, yet you are last place even though you have the same blood flowing through you. This shows that you are a bastard son through and through."
"Your logic is flawed. Kyle is ranked first but it doesn't matter right? After all, we are just lowly illegitimate sons, right mother dearest?" Ash spat out venomously causing his step mother to be stunned silly.
"Kyle-" My father began but Asher cut him off with a hand held up.
Asher wiped his mouth with a napkin and got up from his seat.
Ash looked at each and everyone of them with cold eyes and said harshly, "Are you drunk now father? My name is not Kyle, it's Asher. At least get the name right."
Asher walked off before pausing, "Oh...And I have never once considered you lot my family. Good night everyone."
Asher's father looked at his youngest son's lonely back in pain. He wished that his son would at least turn back, but he never did.
Ash's father felt regret seeping into his skin and he angrily left the dinning room, ignoring the calls of his second wife and children. He tasted a bitter taste in his mouth and it was not from the wine he drank earlier. He did not like it, not one bit.
