Kate braced away from the vehicles and skipped over to the table.
Ethan was taken aback.
"Pay my rent? Why?"
"Because you're flat broke, sugar," Kate retorted.
"Huh? How did you infer? Oh, yeah. You're psychics."
"Not just that, but Eve verified it for us."
He attempted to keep his fury under control. "I wonder what bestowed her the notion that I'm a clemency case."
"It's not clemency. We're not giving you our money," Kate mumbled.
"Minor detail."
Morgana plopped a hand on his arm. "Look, we wanted to support, so we all lay our heads together and schemed this suggestion. Eve learned you wouldn't accept generosity, but you've executed so much for us—"
Eve? At that juncture, Eve opened the door and appeared trotting down the stairs with another plate.
