"Nope. I've never perpetrated this before and possibly won't perpetrate it again."
The woman, assumably the extremely rumpled Lilian Crum, totter to the door. She shoved her scraggly brown fur off her countenance and winked a couple of times as if to clear her illusion.
"Sorry, Evan. What did you explain about previous night?"
"I said you're welcome."
"For bringing me home, or…"
"Or what?"
"Did anything else happen?"
He looked irritated. "You don't recollect anything, do you? If you imply did I take advantage of you, the response is no. I assisted you to your compartment and tucked you in. Look. You're still wearing your clothes."
She looked down at her wrinkled brown shirt and ebony trousers and shook. "So where did you sleep?"
"On your couch."
"Oh. Well, uh—thanks."
"Yeah, like I asserted, you're welcome." Then he charged down the stairs and stopped on the walkway.
"Shit," he mumbled.
