Chapter 33 - Marquis's hunt pt 2

After exiting the clinic, they immediately went back to their residence, which took a few days as they lived in a the capital at the central town, not some rural east village. When they arrived, the situation was immediately reported to the Marquis, to which he nearly fainted in anger.

"Third son Okuro and Second daughter Aimi humbly greets father," they said in unison. Aimi had covered her face with her hair, hoping nobody would care to notice. However, it was very conspicous as she usually kept her hair out of her face. Observing the current situation, the marquis ordered all servants and guards to exit the main hall, leaving only him, his son and daughter, their mothers and personal guards in the vicinity.

After hearing the explanation and seeing his beloved daughter's face, the marquis was beyond angry. Aimi's mother was deeply saddened, and quickly hurried over to her, hugging her and saying, "My poor daughter!!" repeatedly. However, the marquis was not mad at what happened to Aimi, but rather their future. It was obvious his first son, the first young master was favoured by him and clearly the next marquis. He was proposed marriage by the king for the crown prince and Aimi, to which he agreed to ensure his own and his first son's stability as Marquis. Now, as Aimi was disfigured, how could she marry him? He would find out on their wedding night, and he could be punished in the name of throwing his unwanted daughter to the crown prince! He grit his teeth in anger, and issued his word, "By my order! My second daughter, Aimi, was childish and impetuous, choosing to follow her brother on a hunt and met with danger, which led to her disfiguration. As I cannot present someone with flaws to someone as perfect and great such as the crown prince, I shall revoke the marriage and send my Third daughter, Aiki, as her replacement. I will carefully discuss this matter with the king soon enough."

"No! You can't do this! Please father!" Aimi screamed. Aimi's mother was also begging for her husband to revoke the command, saying,"You can't do this! Aimi's future is ruined!! My dear daughter!!" To this, the marquis shook his head, saying, "As Aimi's mother, you have failed in parenting as your daughter is impulsive and caused me great losses and inconvienience. I shall be kind and not demote you, but you should know what to do now." It was clear he was much more upset than Aimi about the situation.

"Also, as her personal guard," The marquis turned to face him,"You have failed in protecting your master and allowed her to be in danger. By my order, since I am lenient, you shall recieve a hundred strokes of the cane and permitted to leave our residence. You can leave after your punishment" The marquis soon turned to leave, signalling his third son to follow him. The guard sighed in relief, knowing he was already lucky for not losing his life, and turned to leave after bowing.

Aimi and her mother sat there as sobs echoed around the now empty hall. She was disfigured forever, and could no longer get a husband. She also lost the chance to be with the man she had an attraction to, the crown prince. Instead, replacing her would be her sister, whom she hated to the core...
