Chapter 25 - God's discussion

"Tsk... it didn't work..." The god of reincarnation commented. He was staring at a glowing orb that showed Miko's current mind state.

"Why didn't it work? It took great effort for us to bring out her more... narcissistic, arrogant and negative side of herself which mostly lied dormant." The fox goddess commented. Inari closed her eyes for a moment to collect her thoughts. To think that it would be her follower's fate to bear the calamity star. The calamity star is a rare occurance, usually only rising every million or so years. As its name suggests, the calamity star is a star that brings calamity directed to a single individual, usually a member of the beast race, after accumilating the energy of all evil deeds commited. The fated bearers of the star will have to go through multiple hardships and die at the end. Usually, it would not only be them but their loved ones who experienced those hardships. Most commonly, their soul would be destroyed as well after the star has died and the calamity had passed.

"I told you it would not work. It would take much more than that to dispel the star. It would take even more to completly nullify its effects." The god of the night replied.

The god of the night was none other than Tsukuyomi, having the tittle of god of the moon as well. With his power over the darkness, he also had the ability over the stars, being able to tell and create certain constellations, therefore knowing the fate of all who lived in the land of the plains, otherwise known as the human world. The god of the night could predict the future of the human world, and yet he failed to think that those other gods could use such simple methods and successfully change fate; To think these two thought that they could use Miko to make herself leave the man that would be the death of her. To dispel the star, they would have to find another target to bring the calamity upon. However, that person must be willing to accept that star, and risk death by it. There must also be a blood ritual to remove the curse of the calamity star and attatch it to another individual, which also risked both parties' life as they could die by blood loss before the calamity even begins. Then, the star would attatch to another individual, bringing more unhapiness to them. To completely nullify the effects, a sacrifice must be made to the star, along with a blood ritual with a god's heart. This was near impossible to obtain, unless given willingly where the god will die. The sacrifice must be worthy enough, or the whole process will have to be repeated, wasting all the preperation before hand.

"Sigh. She is completely smitten with that stupid human. Screw this star." Inari shook her head. When she had heard about what the god of reincarnation told her, she was shocked. She would try to do what she could to help, but there was a limit. The calamity star was rising higher with each passing day, much faster than they enpected and hoped for.

"We can't help her. We can only hope she passes the trial by the star successfully, which the chances are close to none. Honestly, if I look into her past life, she hasn't reach the percentage to actually be born beast. If I go by how wise they are, she actually isn't the wisest human and has to go through more trials first before she could become beast. If i were to total everything up, how wise, intelligence, and karma, she has at least a few million individuals in front of her waiting to be born as beast." The god of death and reincarnation, Shinigami replied. However, for some reason, Miko's name was written at the top of the list to reincarnate as beast. Shinigami obviously thought of this to be strange, but nevertheless complied as he thought no one, including Amaterasu, could edit the book of life and death unless they had his power. Now it was obvious what happened. The calamity star was omnipotent, more powerful than all of the gods. However, it would only bring harm upon the mortal world, and disappear right after.

"Fine. I'll think of something else. I'll still try to reduce the calamity effect to the best of my abilities," Inari said, while the other two gods took their leave from her palace in the heavenly realm.
