Miko ran towards a fallen building. She snapped her fingers and instantly remembered how this scene was so familiar. It was when Takei died... Due to her being a beast with powers, Miko could see hundreds of grim reapers, each with their own scythes, pulling the souls of the dead along with them. Some were on their knees begging to visit their children one last time at the cage, while others were retailiating by trying to head the opposite way the grim reaper was pulling them Some even tried attacking the reaper, to of course no avail as they were swiftly taken down and cuffed to prevent more violence.
Miko fled to a building which was falling apart. Using her ice magic, she was capable of swiftly cooling herself. She formed a barrier of ice magic around her and wandered into the building. Seeing how much smoke was here, she concentrated her barrier such that it couldn't get through.
"Takei!" Miko screamed when she saw his body lying on the ground. However, there was a gapping hole in his stomach, with blood gushing out violently, forming a pool of red around him. Miko immediately knelt down beside him, expanding her shield so that the heat no longer affected him.
"Takei!" Miko said, in between her sniffled tears.
"I loved you always... I am sorry you had to see me like this..." Takei whispered
"No! Don't say anything! Just focus on breathing okay? I will get us out of here."
"You're a fox while I'm a human... We can never be together... This is just fate's way of pulling us apart."
"N-no... Just breathe. You will make it out alive." Miko said, desperately looking around. If a grim reaper caught her trying to revive someone that should have died, she would be in deep trouble.
"We could never have been together Miko... It is time I let my love for you go... We should have never happened. I want you to forget me too. It would be painful if you are immortal and you love someone who is already dead... We should forget each other. That would be the best."
As the light faded from Takei's eyes, his hand carressing her cheek fell down. His eyes rolled back as a final tear slid out and rolled down his face.
A grim reaper finally appeared before Miko, scooping out the soul from Takei's body. As his soul crawled out, the grim reaper grabbed his arm, leading him through the wall so that they could cross the river to the underworld. Miko was not going to let that happen. She activated her magic to grab onto Takei's soul, holding onto his other wrist.
"Asuki Kamiko... Do you know your punishment if you delay a soul's passing?" The grim reaper hissed, through the skull mask on his face. The grim reaper was a unit sergeant of his team. He was specially instructed by the higher ups to pass this soul. Then, he never understood. Now, he did. Who could think that a mere mortal could charm a kitsune?
"Release him... He must pass like all other souls do," the grim reaper hissed again. However, Miko was still unwilling to let go. The grim reaper was getting impatient. However, he knew that since Takei was dead, Miko currently had no way of placing his soul back into his body or reviving him.
Releasing his aura, Miko fell back. The grim reaper was still stronger than her by a whole realm! He directed his magic to his scythe and swung it at Miko. Miko quickly dodged it, but she was quickly countered again when the grim reaper activated his powers and sent three balls of darkness towards her. Miko managed to dodge two, but got hit by the last one, sending her flying towards a burning wall. She hissed in pain as the flame burned through the back of her clothes and touched her bare skin. She fell to the ground, letting her ice magic cover her back to cool it. Seeing how she was weakened, the grim reaper stopped attacking and dragged Takei's soul away. However, Miko was still determined. She summoned icicles to her front, glistening from the tongues of flame on the wall, yet transparent as the fire was consuming alot of the oxygen in the room. It was as sharp as a dagger, and on Miko's command, it shot towards the grim reaper. However, he simply dissipated into the dark wisp like strands before concentrating together again. The ice shot through Takei as well, but since he was dead he would not take any physical injury. The grin reaper however, still could as even though he was dead, he was given power by the higher ups such that he was semi alive. He sent more balls of darkness hurdling towards Miko again, this time however, with more power. Miko tried to shield herself by manipulating her fire element into a shield, hoping to destroy it as her ice would only block against physical attacks. However, only the balls of darkness were only affected as half the magic evaporated from it. Miko was immediately tackled by them, hitting the burning wall again.
The grim reaper turned to leave, this time dragging Takei with more force as he was pissed off. Seeing how there was now way to resolve his death, Miko decided to make a truce.
"Please. Just spare me a minute. I'm sure you can at least give me this grace. I am sorry for attacking you rashly earlier."
"You have exactly a minute. No more delays."
Miko immediately activated her magic and rushed to Takei's soul holding him in her arms. Then, she pressed her lips against his mouth, seeming to kiss him passionately. Then, a small orb glowed in her throat before it moved to her month. She slid her tongue in, the orb following before she parted. The orb slipped into Takei's mouth, as his soul swallowed it.
"I love you. No matter where you are, no matter how long it takes, I'll still find you. Just reincarnate." Miko smilled sadly, a tear sliding out of her eye. Takei's soul listlessly nodded in response, unsure of what had just happen. After all, when one dies, their soul is muddled and cluless of what happened for at least an hour.
"Times up. Let go." Miko removed her hands from his grasp, as the grim reaper grabbed Takei's hand and led him out of the building through the wall. Miko covered herself in an illusion spell when she exited as she did not want the soldiers to see her. However when she reached the other side of the wall, both the grim reaper and Takei had already dissapeared, leaving only his lifeless corpse. She knelt on the floor and wailed. He was gone...
