Chapter 29 - Came up blank

Later that day, after da-hee left Hwan's home, she went to the club that she normally frequents. The spades bar. It was a very busy night as it was a weekend. The club was filled with people dancing and drinking. Then she runs into her favourite bartender.

"Leah! how are you?"

"What do you want?" Leah was not happy to see her as whenever da-hee arrives, she always comes with some unreasonable and shady request.

"Oh come on, is that anyway to treat your favourite customer?"

"You're not a customer, you know you're not supposed to be in here, you're underage".

"Pfft sure." Da-hee scoffs at her as she knows that nobody really cares about her age.

"No but seriously, what do you want?"

"Nothing, I just came here to drink."

"Really?" Leah asks in disbelief.

"Yeah, I need a private booth, come drink with me, your shift will be over soon." da-hee says as she walks away.

"How did she know my shift-, oh never mind; she has already walked away" Leah mutters to herself.

After Leah's shift ended, she went to the private booth where da-hee was drinking by herself and in a very broodish manner. This is not the first time that leah has seen da-hee upset, but something was different. Da-hee has always been direct when it comes to asking a favour from Leah. She never dilly-dallied or tried to have a drink with her, so something was very off and this made Leah very anxious.

She sat down next to da-hee and then she asked. "OK, what's wrong? Whatever happened, just know that I know a guy that makes fake passports."

"What!? No, I don't need to leave the country, everything is fine."

But leah did not believe her, so she kept prying. "I once saw you come in here after someone literally tried to kill you, and you were still business as usual. What is going on?"

"Ughh fine, I went to hwan's home." Da-hee eventually replied.

"Your boyfriend?"

"How did you-?"

"Tats filled me in."

"Okay...." da-hee was a bit confused as to why Tats was so up to date on her affairs, but at that moment it was not important to figure out, so she moved on. "Anyway, I met his dad, and normally before I have confrontations with people, I do my investigations on them, figure out their weak points, and secrets, so as to use to my advantage if the need arises."

"Yes..." Leah replied in agreement as she is well aware of da-hee's methods.

"And there was nothing."

"Excuse me?"

"His dad has no dirty laundry that I can use against him, I came up blank."
