"Meet me at the parking lot later!" Ali said while waving his keys in the air. He went first because his building is on the other side.
Together with August and Simone, we went on with our ways after the first bell.
"Guys, I have a question." We looked at August who broke the long silence, "What money are we going to use later? The club's or Ali's?"
Our eyes widened with the sudden question but then laughed after. "When did we even use the club's money to buy our groceries?" Simone asked.
"That's a good point right there, Simone. Now if you would excuse me, my room is just right here. Good luck!"
My day went on normally but I felt like there was something missing in me. Is it something... or someone? I don't know.
But I would be lying if the day passed without me thinking about his voice. The moment a person hears him sing, I know it would be over. It's an attention-grabber and a head-turner voice, at least for me.
If ever I hear him again, I would risk everything. It would be an honor to meet such a person.
I was busy in my own thoughts when I heard two knocks at the back door. I looked up only to see Simone leaning on the door. "Hurry up, princess. August is fuming mad."
"Who is it this time?"
"It's a who and a what." He corrected me as I went out of the room.
"Really? Can you tell me what happened?"
"Well, apparently, he's the only one who did the assignment. So, the captain of the quarterback spilled coffee on it." He shook his head and then continued, "He wouldn't even pass it if no one passes, why would he even do that?" I rolled my eyes at what Sim said.
"What?! I would be mad too if someone did that to me- even you guys."
"I know right?" We both sighed when we reached August's room. He's there, now sulking after what happened.
I tapped his shoulder and I could sense anger in his eyes when they met mine. "Woah, chill right there." His face rested when he saw us.
"Aya, look at my homework. I did this for weeks." He ranted to me like a baby telling his mom someone took his milk. August sometimes says something foul, appears to be strong, but he's actually a softy.
"It's okay. I'll help you redo it." He was quick to turn his head at me after I said that.
"Really? But I thought you don't do art anymore." His voice keeps on decreasing in volume, seems like he doesn't want to mention it but can't do anything about it because he needs to confirm something from me.
I thought so too. But... I guess this one time. Just this once. If God gives me a sign then I will be back- big time.
"If a friend needs my help, I will be willing to lend a hand." I smiled to reassure him that I'm serious about my offer. He smiled widely until Simone coughed at the side.
"Sorry to break your sweet moment, but the longer we stay here the faster our time here on earth will be." August and I looked at each other after hearing Simone.
"Oh right, no one wants to see Alisandro after making him wait for an hour."
"Geez, I won't even wish to see it. Once is enough and I already learned from it." All of us laughed at it while remembering that one time Ali waited for us.
He seems cool but when talking about patience, I don't want to talk about it.
We went to the locker area to put some of our things back. Fun fact about our lockers, it is all in one row, positioned consecutively.
The two of them were slightly bickering and I was fixing my things when the speaker which is connected to the broadcasting room turned on.
My attention was divided into half for two reasons: One, I'm fixing my things. I need to give more space in case I could snatch some chips and let Ali pay for it as usual. And second, there might be an announcement.
Or so I thought. It wasn't an announcement- it was a sign for me.
My knees felt weak when I heard a voice from the speaker. It wasn't hard to identify his voice- it is particularly unique in my ears.
It's that voice! It sounded like a voice going through pubert- but I believe my ears never lie.
I saw him earlier, maybe he's still here?
Without further ado, I put my notebook inside my locker and went away.
"Aya!"
"Hey, where are you going?!"
I could hear the two of them calling my name but I'm too determined to meet this guy. I don't know how but I managed to reach the broadcast room placed on the third floor of the other building.
Maybe I was a runner in my past life?
While gasping for air, I removed some of my hair in front of my face and then knocked on the door.
I was about to knock again when the door was opened from the other side. There I saw Mr. Edison, the head of the broadcasting team.
"Oh if it isn't my favorite student." He gave me a fatherly smile to which I reciprocated too.
"Hello, Mr. Ed! I have a question." I'm not missing any chances, aren't I?
"Figures. You looked like you crossed the oceans just to reach the broadcasting room. Come in!" He opened the door widely for me to enter.
I went straight to the chair on the side and rested. I will not run ever again!
He sat on the other chair, "So, what's your question?"
"Uhm," I couldn't tell it now. I just realized that it would be weird for him to hear that I'm looking for that person. If he asks why what should I tell him? That I'm amazed by his voice and I wanted an autograph? Lame.
He's still smiling, waiting for my question. I left out a small sigh before continuing, "Who was that person who just sang a while ago?"
His brows furrowed at the sudden question, looked up and then back at me after realizing something.
"Oh that? To be honest, I just found the cd in one of the old cabinets of this room. I was just listening to it then I thought that the voice is calming, perfect for someone going home that's why I played it."
My mouth formed an O after what he said. Now that explains why it sounded like a boy undergoing puberty.
If that's the case maybe he's a part of the broadcasting team before? But with that voice shouldn't he be in the same club as mine too?
"Is there any name on the cd?"
"Nothing. But I found a moon symbol on it." He stood up to show me the cd.
As I was busy looking at it, I can feel the vibration of my phone on my pouch. I took it and put it on the table so I could give the cd back to Mr. Ed.
"Looks like someone's been looking for you."
With that being said, I immediately bid my goodbye to Mr. Edison.
I went straight to the parking area and smiled awkwardly to the three guys giving me a questioning look.
"Hey, that was just ten minutes!"
"Whatever, Aya. Now let's go!"
I sat on the front seat and remembered what happened earlier. This must be a sign right?
A sign.
