Chapter 7 - A Foggy Cave

The cave was dark and foggy. One look at it, and Alsis was sure that it was filled with Malevolent Ghosts.

"Is this where they come from?"

The Malevolent Ghosts disappear after morning arrives. Alsis doesn't think that they follow the fog and go to the darkest side of the world every time. That would mean that they would revolve around this whole world.

Alsis was sure that this world was at least as big as his previous one. He didn't even get the chance to explore it before he died. It was hard for him to think that weak ghosts were capable of traveling this whole world every day.

"Stay here," Alsis said to his three skeleton followers.

He slowly approached the foggy cave and came close to it.

*SHRIEEEEKK*

He could hear faint screams inside. It was like many people were getting murdered in it.

Even though he was a powerful Peak-Core Formation stage cultivator before, he still felt nervous. The scariest thing in existence was the unknown.

You have nothing to expect, and you can't imagine what it could possibly be. As Alsis approached closer and closer to the cave, he felt more and more nervous.

This dark world was unknown to him. There might be a giant ghost that swallows other ghosts inside. Alsis wasn't sure, but it doesn't sound impossible.

After stepping a couple more steps, Alsis entered the cave. Similar to the fog at night, he could only see his arms.

If it weren't for his blue soul fire, he would not be able to see anything within the darkness.

*Fwoosh* *Fwoosh* *Fwoosh*

Alsis felt the Malevolent Ghosts circling him.

*Fwooosh!*

Two red ghosts suddenly attacked him simultaneously from the same direction. Alsis was able to catch the left one, but the right one continued and hit his face.

He immediately grabbed it with his right hand and pulled it off his face before it was able to enter his skull.

If he had a heart right now, it would beat very fast in anxiety.

He quickly tore the two Malevolent Ghosts and ate their soul fires.

"Delicious…"

Alsis was still not tired of the sweet taste of the Malevolent Ghost's soul fires.

He walked for dozens of meters, and he would encounter several Malevolent Ghosts along the way. They would attack him, and he would catch them.

Since it felt very easy, Alsis slowly relaxed. It wasn't as bad as he thought. The only problem was that more and more ghosts were attacking him the deeper he entered.

And so, Alsis decided to stop. He stood still and caught every Malevolent Ghost that attacked him.

He stood there for several hours, no, actually, he doesn't even know how long he had been standing there. Ever since he came to this world, he never felt tired.

It was really hard for him to grasp time in such a dark place while only doing the same thing again and again.

After that unknown amount of time, he went out of the cave. He looked outside and saw Whitey, Boney, and McRibby staring at him.

The sky was already darkening.

"Damn."

Alsis was shocked at the time he spent there.

"Follow me. Let's just explore this cave at night," Alsis said.

The three skeletons obediently followed behind him. Their surroundings were lit up much brighter compared to before as the combined brightness of their four soul fires lit up the way.

Since Alsis had already spent a long time purging the ghosts, only a few of them attacked their group. He would catch those few and split it with the four of them.

Soon, they arrived at the spot where he stopped. A wave of ghosts came out at that moment. Presumably, it was because it was already night outside.

Alsis moved very quickly and tried to catch as many ghosts as possible. Alas, he was only one skeleton. The three skeletons were too slow and stupid to catch some.

One ghost slipped and attacked Boney.

Boney tried to pull it off his face, but the slippery ghost passed through his boney hands and entered into his skull. He then lied on the ground with his ribs facing up.

Like a domino, Whitey and McRibbs were also attacked by two ghosts that slipped Alsis' defense. The Malevolent Ghosts entered inside their skulls and caused them much pain. As if he practiced it, Whitey followed Boney's example and lied on the ground with his ribs facing up.

The only one that was clueless on what to do was McRibbs. He clawed at his skull and internally screamed in pain. He was still too stupid to figure out how to make sounds.

Alsis had no time to pay attention to the three of them. It was a mistake to enter this cave. He underestimated the number of Malevolent Ghosts inside. He repeatedly tore the Malevolent Ghosts that he could capture.

He stopped caring about eating them. It takes too much time to absorb them with his soul fire. One ghost might slip his defense and jointly attack his skeleton followers if he didn't do this.

He doesn't know how painful and damaging an attack from two Malevolent Ghosts was, but it was not hard for him to guess that it would be fatal for his weak followers.

And so, while his three skeleton followers endured the pain, Alsis tried his best to weather the wave of ghosts.

Soon, McRibbs was showing signs of dying. His soul fire was flickering weakly. As for Whitey and Boney, the two of them were much stronger, so they were still hanging on.

Alsis gritted his teeth and realized that he needed to save McRibbs now, or he would lose his deliciously named follower.

Alsis stopped caring about the waves of Malevolent Ghosts and pushed McRibbs to the ground before forcefully opening his jaw and pulling the Malevolent Ghost that was attacking him.

After doing that, Alsis was overwhelmed by the wave of Malevolent Ghosts. He decided to defend McRibbs instead of the other two. He grabbed as many soul fires that he scattered around earlier and fed them to McRibbs in an attempt to keep him alive.
