4 Years Old|

Ever since my first bout of accidental magic, I have been practicing wandless magic daily, and I have come a long way since my first discovery. I have learned that there are three major components to casting a spell. Emotion, Focus, and Energy.

Energy is the easiest to understand, so I ended up learning about that aspect first. Energy is just the amount of Magic power needed to use/maintain/overpower a spell.

Use is simple, it is a one-time drain on your magic power, ie: if you have 500 mp, and a spell requires 10, then you will have 490.

Maintain is as simple as it sounds, it is a constant spell, such as Lumos, it drains a certain amount of mp per minute. Ie: If you have 500 mp, and a spell requires 5 mp/minute, then after 1 minute you will have 495; 2, 490; etc, etc

Overpower is much more complicated, you can overpower any spell, but as you do so, you will get diminishing returns, according to this equation: x=(1.01^(y-5z))-x {y>0} (Just put this in a graphing calculator like desmos, you'll see what I mean), where x is the original amount, z is the amount of magical power you are adding, and y is spell power as it exits the wand.

A/N - Please note that these numbers are arbitrary, they are not representative of the magic system of this world, you cannot measure the 'amount of mp' a person has, you can only sense the general amount a person has, and only if you are incredibly attuned with magic. These numbers have only been used as an example to describe how magic works in this fic.

Focus is just that, the amount you are concentrating on what you want to happen, the need for focus does become less as you become more familiar with the spell, but especially with transfiguration, you need immense amounts of concentration on what you want the object you're transfiguring to change into.

Finally, emotion. Emotion is your state of mind, a stable state of mind while casting produces far more powerful effects than an unstable mind. Ie: if you are scared, or letting anger cloud your judgment, your spell will become much less powerful.

But emotion can also be used to empower your spells, or in some cases, like the patronus charm, are needed. A cold fury can be used to further empower your spells because your decisions are conscious and not born of blind rage, and the extra emotion can be poured into the spell to overpower it.

Another thing that I discovered, is that draining your magical core to near empty increases the amount you can contain and that the amount you drain is proportional to how much you gain. Except if you drain it completely, I'm pretty sure if you drain all your magic, then you die, because every time I have tried, I have this instinctual fear and have to stop immediately.

So I have been doing this every night before I go to bed, and I have seen a massive increase in the size of my magical core, while it used to be about the size of a pin, it is now about the size of a golf ball.
