Florence hasn't given up, but she has a question that baffles her mind and wants an answer.
"Okay, Brent, I will hold my peace for now, but I want you to answer me this one question. I am really trying to understand why Junior asked us to build this home so suddenly, and why he went about asking the businessmen to contribute towards the soup kitchen?"
Brent couldn't help but smile. 'She said one question but she asked two, "Look honey, the project hasn't begun yet, and that will take a little while before it is complete, but in the meantime, the people are hungry and need food so what if the businessmen help?"
"And another thing don't you think this is a good way of being a blessing? Think about it, Junior could have chosen to offset all of the expenses by himself, which you know is nothing, but he chose to get the other businessmen involved to share in this huge blessing."
"Honey, our son has matured so much in these past two years. Now he is taking on this vast responsibility for helping the people in our community. Isn't that a good thing? Honey, he is in the making of a great leader."
Florence considered what Brent said, 'Mostly what he said is true, I have noticed the change since I returned, but there seems to be a heavy burden he has been carrying. I know the business is very demanding which takes most of his time, but I have this feeling he is hiding something from us.'
Brent was relieved he had said his peace, now he hoped Florence wouldn't interfere in his life and allow him to move forward with his vision. Leaving her in the study he went to his room. Florence looks at the time, "I have given him a long rope to do whatever he wants, it is already ten-thirty and up until this hour he hasn't returned. knowing he has to rise early for work."
Following Brent when her eyes caught a glimpse of the TV on, Florence walked softly towards him seeing he was asleep. She took out a blanket and covered him, then headed up the stairs softly, 'He is my son and is already thirty-two years old, I should allow him to make his own decisions and not demand too much of him before he leaves me .'
Listening to her footsteps move away from the sofa Brent opened his eyes, listening to them earlier Brent decided not to interfere. 'Mom is very suspicious and might make a big issue out of nothing.
With the TV Brent relaxed but he was still baffled by his mom's behaviour, 'How it is Dad could see Jessy's vision so clearly, and Mom had been working in the fundraising committee for so long and she could be so shallow-minded and miss the entire vision?'
Unaware that tears were slowly seeping down his face, as memory flashes back to how motionless her lifeless body was when he placed her on the bed at the Pastor's home.
'She look so helpless, if something were to happen and she had to defend or save herself what would become of her?
Whispering a simple prayer, "Oh Lord, if only mom wasn't so angry, I would have gotten the opportunity to take care of Jessy home and I wouldn't be so worried or frustrated. Please heal her body and help her to recover quickly. Lord, I miss her so much and the staff also miss her. '
When he felt his face wet he quickly wiped it away, becoming exaggerated as his mind returned to the presence.
It took Brent every ounce of strength and courage to focus his full attention on the program that was playing, hoping it would clear his head and mind.
With his eyes closed his tired body gradually relaxed and he settled down.
Hearing his phone ringing he opened his eyes, to see who was calling him at that unforgivable hour when he caught sight of the time, "Half eight!"
Brent was so shocked that he sat up suddenly only to realise he had fallen asleep on the sofa. Brent wondered what was wrong with him, he kept falling asleep on himself.
'Am I so tired that as soon as my body gets to a relaxed position I sleep away? I know recently I haven't been resting properly because of the distance between Jessy and me, but what can I do? She is the one who keeps avoiding me.'
