Brent ignored the Pastor's words, he wanted to ensure she was medically treated, so he asked, "You said you are her Pastor?"
But he thought as those words left his mouth, 'She was only here for about five to six weeks, and here this man is claiming to be her Pastor, how is that possible?' Becoming worried, ' I already made a mistake by ignoring her Saturday and if I allow them to take her now, then I will not know where they are taking her and if it is a safe place.'
'Besides, many persons are posing as Ministers and are deeply involved in human trafficking. She is in no condition to help herself if a situation arises so how can I let her go in this condition?'
Brent also noticed how polite and soft-spoken his voice was. It could make anyone believe he is sincere and kind. "Yes, but how are you acquainted with Miss Albert?"
Brent was about to say he was her Boss when Sammy interrupted at that moment saying, "Sir, you may not know this but Jessy comes every Saturday and helps me clean the church and on Sunday morning she attends the service."
Brent recalled she once said that it has people who depend on her, now understanding that when she leaves after straightening the office on Saturdays' it is the Church she goes to help clean. "I see."
Sammy was curious to know how this person had entered when he returned the next and could not find a way to assist her. "Sir, I don't know if she is your Sister, but I returned Sunday calling but got no response, How did you get her door open?"
Dipping his head to avoid eye contact, he replies, "I found a key under the flower pot."
When Sammy spoke Brent heard the confusion in his voice, "Sir, that is not possible, I searched everywhere and there was no flower pot, so where did it come from?"
Brent didn't want to fool these people and he knew that lying is a sin, but what options was he left with? 'I could reveal the truth to these two but if Miss James hears she might reveal the truth and expose me.'
Brent steps out of the front door and turns towards the flowerpot at the side of the garage. Sammy could not believe his eyes, knowing in his heart there was no flower pot there.
He just looks at Brent and says nothing, he knows that he is lying but says nothing to expose his lies. The important thing right now is Jessy is going to get help.
When Miss James came and announced that she had finished attending to Jessy and was ready to take her to the doctor, Brent sighed feeling such relief.
Ignoring the two people standing next to Boss. "Boss, she is dressed."
Realizing the Pastor wasn't giving up when he asked, "Is she your worker?"
He didn't want to delay any longer so he said, "Yes, she is, now, if you don't mind just give my secretary your address and I will bring her to your home after I take her to the Doctor." He then instructed Miss James in a stern voice, "Will you take the Pastor's address while I get Miss Albert?"
He hurried and went to the room, Jessy was unconscious and wasn't aware of what was happening around her. When he lifted her in his arms she smelt clean, 'Miss James did a good job and her concern was valid, if she didn't insist who knows what would have happened. Rushing out of the room instructs Miss James to lock the door.
Brent placed her in the back seat, stroking her face, knowing this was all his fault. "I was so jealous I left you, and now you are in this unconscious condition."
He felt his heart racing as he struggled with the thought of losing her. While the Doctor attended to her he didn't mind the lengthy time seeing he gave her a bag of drips.
'Oh Lord, I am her friend, yet the Pastor is taking her to his home to attend to her needs. Why? If only Mom wasn't still so riled up about her interrupting the committee, I could have taken her to my home instead of the Pastor.'
He felt the heaviness in his heart knowing how she was making every effort to explain the use of building the home for the homeless. I know I cannot take her home, and she cannot stay in the apartment alone.'
