Brent was so caught up discussing a business deal at the dinner table he wasn't even aware when Jessy left and sat on the sofa looking at the television.
After his meal and his business talk, he noticed that Jessy seemed lost while looking at the news on the television. She had taken a snack he had bought and held it mid-air as her eyes were locked on to the television.
Putting his phone in his pants pocket as he came and sat beside her, Brent became concerned about how serious she was as he asked, "What are you watching? Is everything alright?"
Her focus was still on the television when she said, "It has some nice Christian programs on this channel," Glancing sideways at the television, 'What is she talking about? there is nothing about church or Christ.'
Returning his attention to her, Brent observed her hand slowly reach to her mouth and was nibbling on a snack.
Tears were flowing down her face and she seemed to have heard or thought about something that brought the tears. I wonder if she enjoyed her meal, I wasn't paying any attention but now she was snacking so why the long tears?'
Recalling the first day they met she was crying when she related the incident Now we are celebrating our first month anniversary and she is crying.'
When she held my hand and said, "Thank you so much for helping out in the soup kitchen."
Looking at her in puzzlement, "Do you know how many homeless are just surviving with a bowl of soup,? The contribution you made will keep them going for a few days and because of you other businesses are helping."
Turning her to face him, he wipes the tears, then asks, "Where did you hear that from?"
Brent couldn't believe how her face was glowing although it had tear stains. Brent wanted to kiss her long and hard at that moment.
When she stroked his face and said, "Haven't you been listening? Natasha from the soup kitchen was conveying her thanks to you and all the businessmen who have contributed this last month, and it is all because of you."
Reaching out his hand he held hers that was stroking his face. Brent was shocked as she came and rested herself comfortably in his arms, her face resting against his chest.
Enjoying the closeness he whispered in her ear " I am not special, you are the one that is pretty special you know, That's why my Dad loves how you treat the workers and he loves your currence-roll and puff. also your sweetbread. Jessy, very soon my Mom will fall in alongside my Dad and you already know how I feel."
Jessy didn't want him to have false hopes, "Brent, please try and understand we are friends and I like you a lot. in my times of need, you became an angel of God and met that need. I owe you so much and I promise I will repay you as soon as I return home."
Feeling his heart was being smashed by a huge rock, 'Oh Lord, how can she say that when she said that I can be the medium You can use and look for Yourself Lord, how she clings on to me, doesn't she know what riot my body is going through?'
Brent didn't want to scare her like that first day in the apartment, "I thought you told me not long ago that you love me?"
Without thinking Jessy said, "Oh, I do love you because you take good care of me but not love, like love you know, the kind between a husband and wife."
Hearing what she said Brent was about to release his hold on her when she reached up and kissed his lips.
'That craving for the past three weeks fills his heart, forgetting all she had said about being friends just now, he enjoys the moment and the hunger that burns from deep within his soul. I know it was not my craving alone feeling her body urging me to get closer, wanting more from each other.
When we did stop and she stroked my face, I could still see the burning desire in her eyes. I could also see she had a lot of self-control, but then her words pierced my heart when she said once more. "Thank you for being my best friend."
