Whispering Woods, Mondstast: ( Childe's POV ) :
Childe's body is burning, not by fire but by sheer exhaustion. It screams pain every time he moves his lance. Standing before him is an army of land tilers or what Teucer would call Mr. Cyclops. The thought of Teucer and his family brought about emotions that he buried instantly. Becoming emotional midst battle is a surefire way to defeat, something he experienced in his battle with Aether. He changed his weapon to Bow as soon as he saw a few ruin guards get ready for a long-range attack. Even though he is the least adept with the bow, he could shoot accurately over long distances. He aimed for the kill switch of the ruin guard modified by Dottore. Normal Ruin guards would be stunned when hit on their core but dottore's would not and the only way to disable them is breaking the core completely which is difficult in and itself. He knew a few experimental long-range ones have a kill switch from his adventure into one of his hidden laboratories.
He momentarily glanced towards the main stars of the show, Diluc, and Dottore having a deathmatch. Even from afar, he could see that Dottore is toying with Diluc. Diluc may have been a prodigy and expert swordsman, But Dottore is not allowing him to engage in CQC. He is abusing his powerful machinery to keep him at Long-range. Diluc is getting progressively weaker and would have died long ago without help from his brother Kaeya. He knows that he must do something or they would lose miserably. Dottore betrayed the Tsaritsa and Snezhnaya, he must be dealt with which led to this unlikely alliance between him and the Wine Baron. Even if Reinforcements arrive on time, they cannot deal with this massive army of Ruin guards. He decided that he must make a large AOE attack with high damage but in his current state of exhaustion, it would mean suicide. But he has no other option.
He drew all the divine power he could muster from his Vision. He cast a wide-range attack that consisted of large hydro stakes raining from the sky. It cleared at most a third of the forces but he expected that outcome. He sighed for the last time and with a splitting grin started gathering energy from his delusion at the expense of his life force. His hair greyed at a visible rate and a few wrinkles started forming on his face. The clouds that were gathered for his previous attack turned black and got saturated with purple lighting. The extreme concentration of electro energy drew the attention of all combatants who momentarily stopped their battles. Dottore's eyes widened as a massive lightning construct started from above his army of land tillers. A massive purple dragon formed and roared at the massive army as it descended from the clouds.
Making use of Dottore's momentary distraction, Kaeya and Diluc struck a killing blow which though the former managed to evade but caused him a fatal injury. The electro energy interacted with the already existing hydro particles on the ruin guards causing a short circuit that disabled over half of the army while the remaining were cleared solely by the impact of the dragon's descent. Childe keeled over as his life force and stamina became exhausted. The surviving ruin guards started surrounding him. Just as they are closing in on him, a massive tornado along with a powerful earthquake swept over them. He turned in the direction of the attack to find his comrade Aether rushing in leading reinforcements from Mondsadt.
Aether noticed Childe be in his final moments. He left the army and rushed to his spot.
" Hey, comrade! Here to witness my final moments?" Childe asked in a barely audible voice.
Aether knew that any comforting words and assurances would not work as he accepted his death.
" Yeah, comrade. But worry not all of Teyvat will remember your final moments. I don't think this area would become normal again. You left your mark my friend. I am thankful for all the time we spent together. "
This brought a smile to Childe's face. He knew that he wasn't saying this to comfort him but to his heartfelt words. His only regret is his family. He is going to miss Teucer and all of his siblings. But he knew his days were limited when he decided to become a warrior. He made necessary preparations but he wanted to have someone look after them.
" Comrade. Can you look after my siblings for me? Teucer is fond of you, so he would listen to you. Protect him for me. From Enemies and himself. "
Aether liked this part of Childe. The only reason they got along so well was their mutual love of siblings. He agreed without hesitation even though it placed responsibilities on him. It's the least he could do for him.
Seeing Aether's agreement, Childe relaxed with relief. He knows that Tonia and the elder siblings could manage but he was concerned for his younger siblings. Aether would take care of them as he knew he is better with them than him.
" Farewell comrade! My only regret is not meeting my master so if you find her by any chance, tell her I am sorry for missing out on our fight." The time has come, he could feel it. His vision started failing and he began losing consciousness. He heard a few words like " Meet....Wait... and visit " before completely going blank.
Aether had a long sigh as he looked at the false sky of this world. He was one of the closest people he had in this world so he couldn't bear to see him die. He sent his soul to a different world without his permission. The world doesn't seem to be that dangerous so he was sure Childe would survive and he would meet him again.
