Thomas' POV
I tell him and though the words break my heart to say, for the first time I'm relieved for the fight we had. Now I don't have to worry about him coming here and doing something stupid, like trading himself in for me. The selflessness in the man is a trait to be admired and pitied, knowing he would do anything for me, but wishing he wouldn't.
"Oh? Why wouldn't he?" Silas asks me through clenched teeth and I mentally congratulate myself for upsetting him.
"He thinks I left him." I tell him and I try to ignore the tears that try to force their way to my eyes at the idea of Zack laying there, wondering where I am, waiting at the door for it to never open with me walking in. "He won't even know I'm missing." I tell him with a weak smile and I hear him growl, the sound completely demonic as he punches the wall beside my head.
