James' POV
I smile in excitement as I drive away from the school . As reluctant as I had been yesterday, I'm stoked for Carramel and I's trip. This morning I had drive Carramel to school, opting to take the car because it's going to be a lot of back and forth today. I told her I had an emergency meeting and that I was going to be too busy today, but I'm secretly getting everything ready for our mini vacation.
I felt queasy about lying to my little Carramel-bear but Sloan keeps reminding me that it's to surprise her for a good cause so I try to keep that in mind.
The first stop on the list is to the packhouse. I have to pack a bag for Carramel and I and then discuss my departure with someone on the committee. I'm leaving Alex in charge, since he agreed this morning while Carramel was in the shower, but it would be irresponsible of me to exclude them from the plans.
I pull up into the parking lot, hoping out the car to head into the house. There's no one downstairs, as expected since everyone is at work, school, or still sleeping, so it's easy for me to slip upstairs to my room first. I brush inside the door, being careful to close it behind me before I head to my closet.
I open the sliding door with one hand and reach into the closet with the other until I find what I need, two small duffel bags on top of my closet. I hoist both down, throwing one of the floor, unable to get rid of my shit eating grin. I quickly pack a weeks worth of boxers, pants and shirts, and last minute I throw in my swimming trunks just in case. Walking to the bathroom I throw in some soap, a razor, toothbrush and paste and a couple other things.
I leave the bathroom and double check everything before I gather up my now full bag and Carramel's empty one and head out of my room, making my way to her. I stop outside her door, hesitant to go in. I know my little bean is going to be my Mate and that I've invited myself over and in her room, but I'm still worried I might do something that crosses the line.
'Hurry the fuck up and go. If you don't just go in, and throw some clothes together in a bag. Besides if things go right, it won't matter if they look okay, because they'll stay in the bag.' Sloan says, annoyed for the day with my constant worry. I just want everything to be perfect.
'Stop Sloan. Maybe if I do everything right, the Moon Goddess will do me this one favor. Just this one.' I tell him, my voice trailing off sadly and there's no other remarks from him as I take a deep breath and enter Carramel's room cautiously. I shut the door behind me and momentarily I'm stunned by the smell that hits me so fierce but softly as the sweet smell of my Mate encircles my body. I feel tiny baby sparks shoot up my spine and across my skin at the smell.
I only stand there a moment longer before I finally get my wits together and stumble away from the door and towards the small dresser against the wall, drunk of the smell of honey and the sun. I set my bag down on her bed, and open her, getting to work on choosing her clothes.
I remember how well she looks in pastel colors and how comfortable she is in in more feminine and soft looking clothing so I do my best to make sure she'll be comfortable and happily surprised. I'm too nervous to go inside her underwear drawer, and I breath a side of relief when I see clothes folded on the bed from laundry day this morning, where I find both swimming trunks and some pairs of briefs. Some lines I'm still not ready to cross yet.
I hurry to the bathroom and gather up her necessities before heading back into her room. I put her bag on the bed and almost go to close it before something catches my eye. It's a bear and blanket set that are folded so neatly at the foot of her bed. Something I recognize that she tries her hardest not to reach for when I'm not around as if embarrassed, which I never want her to be. So I smile, picking up the folded blanket and the bear and putting them neatly inside her duffel bag before closing it up and heading out of her room, making sure it's closed tight behind me.
I head downstairs to the car, throwing both of our bags in the trunk before heading back inside, this time to the offices on the first floor beyond the living room, wandering back until I find Zee's office. Sticking my head in and seeing her on the phone, I invite myself into the room and take a seat across her desk as she wraps up her conversation and says her departure. Once she's done, her attention is solely on me in excitement.
"Jamie! How are you, hun? You holding up okay?" She asks worriedly and all I can do is smile.
"Yes, no need to worry about me." I assure her. "But I did come here for something."
She straightens herself and leans onto the desk, knowing that I never ask for help, so this must be important. I take a deep breath hoping I didn't do all this work for nothing before I start.
"Carramel asked me last night about going to her family's old place up in Seasons Mountains. She doesn't know it yet but I'm been making plans. I want to leave today after school if we can make that work." I tell her evenly. Hopefully. Even though I have the title as Alpha, I won't be fully Alpha until I graduate in the spring so right now, it's Zee that has the other half of my load so getting her approval for this is important, even if we are close friends.
"Who will act in your place while you're gone?" She asks bringing out a pen and paper.
"Alex, he's already agreed, he knows all the rules like the back of his hand and he's already slated to be Beta." She nods writing down quickly.
"How long will you be gone?"
'She's asking too many questions. I vote we end her here and just go.' Sloan says will a shrug of his shoulders and I try my best to ignore him.
"Until Monday afternoon, there's no school because it's a holiday." She hums in response as she puts the dots together and writes down our plans.
"So Carramel would only be missing one day of school and you would be missing two." She concludes but I already have that handled.
"Yes but I already have my work emailed to me for today and tomorrow and Carramel isn't missing anything important while he's gone." She stops writing on the paper and just looks at me silently. I fidget in my seat before speaking up. "So can we go?"
Her face immediately breaks into a smile at the question. "Of course you can go. Look at you James planning everything out I'm proud of you." She says standing up and I follow suit with a huge grin on my face. "You're going to make a great Alpha."
"Thanks, Zee." I tell her before leaning in to give her the hug she's reaching for. After a few goodbyes, I'm leaving her office, checking and double checking that we have everything we need. I hop into my car, too excited to do anything else, though even with all the time I killed, there's still three hours left until school is over.
I make a executive decision and put my car in drive, heading towards the Mall in the middle of the city where everyone goes. It only takes me ten minutes to get there, and I turn off the car grabbing my wallet, my keys and my phone, but before I step out there's a ding that goes off as I receive a text. I look down at my phone and smile.
Baby Bean:
I'm missing you at lunch :(
Me:
I miss you too, bean. I'll be
there to pick you up today. :)
There's no response for a minute but right as I'm about to get out and walk into the store, to look for a present for my Carramel-Bear, these three dings in a row. I open my phone and have a fucking heart attack at the way he's blessed my screen.
Baby Bean:

Have fun at your meeting! <3
I'll see you after school!
My cock twitches rapidly at the sight of my baby's ass on my screen and I groan wishing I was there making her moan my name in the bathroom she's in. I try and clear my thoughts as best I can, arranging my erection before I step out the car. Even as horny and as frustrated as I am, I can't wipe the smile off my face.
Because I know exactly what to get my baby for her birthday.
