Chapter 139 - Chapter 139: That's not a robot, that's the Star Child

"Captain, your new shield, the main material is Adamantium with a vibranium coating, it's much stronger, just a little heavier."

Eric tossed a shield to Team America, who took it and weighed it, finding that apart from being heavier, it was no different from his original shield, even the paint scratches on it were identical, and couldn't help but look at Eric in confusion.

"Vibranium isn't indestructible!" Eric continued to hand out weapons to the others, mouth agape, "As long as you destroy the atomic structure of vibranium, it's no different from ordinary iron."

"Excuse me, I only have a high school education, can you tell me how easy it is to destroy the atomic structure of vibranium?" Captain America tapped his shield, "I haven't come across anything like that so far."

"Hardly, but for Howard, it's easy. He has a watcher's eye that knows the weaknesses of anyone and anything."

"Wouldn't we have no chance of winning then?" Barton held a ring in his hand and experimented with it finger by finger, trying to find the one that would have the least effect on his archery.

"That's why I changed your equipment for you! The Watcher's Eye loses its ability to continue monitoring the universe after it leaves the Watcher, so Howard is unaware of the changes we are making."

Barton eventually slipped the ring on his left pinky finger and nodded knowingly at Eric.

"Alright, get used to the new gear as soon as you can and we'll be leaving in an hour."

"Where are we going? Do you know where Howard is?" Captain America slung his shields behind his backs and stared at Eric.

"I don't know where he is, but someone does, we're going to Rome!"

...

"This was once a majestic underground city, but alas, Newton's selfish desires have ruined it." Entering the Immortal City, Eric introduced the crowd to the legendary organization of the Brotherhood of the Shield, while sensing the surroundings over and over again, looking for Michelangelo's trail and scouting the surroundings to see if traps existed.

"It's unimaginable that such a legendary organisation exists in human history, and that my father, is actually one of them." Tony Stark, clad in Mark 1.5 battle armour, followed close behind Erik, his voice sounding a little awe.

"They had done a great service in guarding humanity and are still working for it to this day." Eric scouted around and frowned, it was so strange that Michelangelo wasn't there.

At that moment, a golden light suddenly lit up at the ruins not far from the group, as if there was energy coming from the void.

Seeing this familiar golden glow, Eric quickly walked up, "Master, where have you been?"

Unfortunately, those golden rays tried hard to come together, but could not succeed in any way, and could not even regain their human form, let alone answer Eric's question.

"Master, what has happened to you? What has happened?" Eric's face changed and he realised that things had changed.

The golden energy tried some more, found that it could not succeed, and suddenly reversed direction and shot violently into Eric's brow.

"Eric, Howard has captured me in this timeline through some sort of device and has interfered with my connection to this timeline, unfortunately, I cannot help you, you are on your own." A voice rang out in Eric's mind, it was Michelangelo.

"Master, what does he want?" Eric asked hastily.

"The Eye of the Watcher provides him with knowledge and energy, my body provides him with the link and coordinates of the timeline, and with this he has built a machine to reset this timeline."

"Reset the timeline!" Eric felt a pounding in his head! "Master, where is Howard now?"

"He's right here! To the east ..." With that last sentence, what was left of Michelangelo's energy disappeared completely, unable to provide Eric with another ounce of help.

"Here!" Eric instantly raised his guard and his magnetic field sensing spread out at full force, but this stirred up a hornet's nest.

The change in the magnetic field seemed to have triggered something, and a special wave spread along the field, quickly flooding Eric and the others, and Eric instantly lost control of the magnetic and gravitational forces.

"X-gene suppressor! And some kind of gravitational disruption device from the white fury, that is predicted!" Not alarmed by this turn of events, Eric pressed on his belt at his waist and an energy shield shielded him.

"Everyone, prepare for battle!"

"Fight? With who? Erik, I don't see a single enemy! Do you have nearsightedness?" Tony made a raw dig at Eric, but his arm went up, palm cannon lit up, and he looked around warily.

The crowd raised their weapons in their hands and stared in readiness.

As if in response to them, there was a sudden sensation of the ground shaking and a massive rumbling sound remembered in the distance, as if a large army was heading towards them.

"I have a bad feeling about this." Barton put an arrow to his bow and squinted his eyes, gazing intently into the distance.

The sound came from far and near, and the group soon got a good look at the incoming enemy, a swarm of two-metre tall mechanical spiders, carrying two very sci-fi looking guns on their backs, and eight eyes on the top of their heads glowing with a burst of red light that, at a glance, roamed endlessly.

"Sure enough, my hunch was right about the tin guys, I wonder if the new arrows will shoot through." With a grimace, Barton drew his bow to full string, ready to fight, but was pressed down by Erik.

"It's just cannon fodder, I'll do it!" Eric reached out his finger and flicked it towards the mechanical spiders in all directions, a ray of light containing an unearthly aura pointing out and shooting towards the centre of the swarm.

"It might be a bit noisy, you guys better cover your ears." Eric warned as the attack ended, covering his ears when he did.

While the crowd was still puzzled, a dazzling light suddenly erupted from the swarm of mechanical spiders that had been fired at, followed by a loud bang, as if a missile had exploded, shockwave after shockwave, kicking up a lot of sand and dust, and several of the weaker ones were almost blown over by the shockwave.

As the dust settled, a hellish sight came into view, the mechanical spider army that had just been so aggressive was now reduced to scraps and debris.

Looking at the 10-metre deep craters in the distance, Barton gulped and looked at Eric like a monster, "Boss, are you sure you need our help? I think it's enough with you alone!"

The others were also shocked at Eric's strength, but Eric shook his head and stared ahead.

A huge figure slowly emerged, twenty metres tall, its entire body made of unknown metal, with a circular window in its chest resembling an ark reactor, revealing the complex mechanical structure inside.

The huge body, instead of making it look bulky, seemed unusually light, walking on the road without making even a single sound.

Eric took a deep breath, his expression stony as ever, "This is why I need your help!"

"That's it? Just a giant robot? Eric, just leave this to me!" Tony took control of the battle armour and flew up to attack, only to be stopped by Eric.

"No, Tony, that's not a robot, that's Star Child! A God!"
