What is "God's Judgement"?
Each satellite is equipped with an electromagnetic cannon system, but instead of an ordinary steel projectile, it fires a tungsten rod, one foot in diameter and two metres long, with a steel casing wrapped around it for the cannon to fire.
When the tungsten rod is fired, the initial velocity has reached Mach 6 and then, all the rest is left to gravity.
The tungsten rod, under the influence of gravity, will travel faster and faster, reaching a speed of at least Mach 40 when it touches the ground!
How powerful would a six-ton tungsten rod hitting the earth at forty times the speed of sound be? It would be far more powerful than a million-yield nuclear warhead! And there would be zero pollution and zero radiation.
In front of all the military bigwigs, Eric slowly pressed the launch button, and the sky suddenly lit up with a flash of light, a bright spot visible to the naked eye like a meteor streaking through the sky, and the crowd had only just spotted it in the air when it smashed into the ground with a blaze.
Then came the beginning of the disaster.
The surface of the Sahara desert was all loose sand, and the tungsten rod fell, smashing directly into the depths of the earth, carrying with it a powerful kinetic energy that was unleashed far and wide in the process.
The shockwave pushed on underground, and the ground seemed to lift a wave of sand hundreds of metres high as if it were seawater, stretching on for tens of kilometres.
When the dust had settled, in the middle of the Sahara desert, there was an additional huge crater several kilometres in diameter, as if it had been hit by a huge meteorite.
"Gentlemen, if it is not necessary, I hope this weapon will never be used in the city!" General Ross had been deeply shocked by the power of the "God's Judgment".
This was the Sahara desert and the loose nature of the sand had weakened the power of this weapon by at least half, but even so, it was still as powerful as a large nuclear bomb! Immediately, General Ross had a mental picture of its use in the city.
That, indeed, was a verdict from God!
Several other bigwigs nodded their heads and praised the power of the space-based weapon, signing an order for ten sets of space-based weapons with Skye Industries on the spot.
...
Maya Hansen accompanied Eric to the whole launch event, and the weapon gave her an even bigger shock.
The military big figures were at least somewhat prepared for the event, she was not a bit prepared, and she didn't even know what she was going to do today until she got on the plane.
She had researched the extremis virus in order to save people who were suffering from disabilities and bring them hope for life. In her mind, she had always had a positive image of herself as a caring angel like the world.
But Erik? He was a demon! He developed a weapon that, with just one shot, could bring about thousands of disabled people! Many of them, won't even have the chance to become disabled!.
"Will I be making a mistake in accepting his employment?" Until the launch was over and the two were on the plane again, Maya Hansen was still caught up in self-doubt.
"Thinking about what?" Eric raised his glass and sat down ungracefully in the sofa.
"Uh, no, nothing."
"Oh, thinking about the weapon earlier, right?" Eric took a sip of his wine, knowing full well what Maya Hansen was thinking.
"This weapon, Eric, isn't it a little too brutal?" Maya Hansen asked, speaking cautiously.
"Brutal?" Eric paused in his drinking for a moment, laughed lightly and shook his head, "Maya, tell me then, what human weapon is there that is not brutal?"
Maya Hansen was silent as Eric continued, "This weapon is indeed powerful, but we need it!"
"There will be many crises in our world in the near future and we will need powerful weapons to ward them off." Eric shook his glass of fine wine and nodded in Maya Hansen's direction, "Including your extremis virus, which is the best weapon we have for those crises!"
"Crises? War?" Strength determines perspective, and with different eyes, Maya Hansen was very uncomprehending of Eric's concerns; in her world view, humans were the absolute protagonists of the planet, what with gods, aliens, etc., being nothing more than scenarios that only appeared in movies. The only crisis that could exist on Earth was perhaps only war.
"War? Yes, it's war!" Hearing these two words, Eric froze a little, and his mind couldn't help but recall that tragic war with the Kree in the King Thanos universe.
"Was it other countries? Terrorists? Or, mutants?"
"Maya, it's the twenty-first century, why is your mind still stuck on Earth?" Eric snapped back, pointing distantly to the sky, "In the future, the enemy will come from there!"
"Aliens? Aliens really exist?" Maya Hansen's eyes widened.
"Huh!" Eric laughed softly, "Aliens, I've killed plenty of them! There's an old guy on the moon who fended off aliens for Earth for over half a century, now he's old and won't know when he's going to die, we have to prepare in advance!"
"There's someone on the moon!" Maya Hansen's eyes widened.
"Of course there are, and more than one or two! You'll find out later." Erik shook his head, not wanting to explain too much more.
"If it's aliens, then this weapon does need to exist, especially the 'God's Judgment', it's amazingly powerful!" Maya Hansen pondered.
Eric laughed lightly at her words, thinking God's verdict is not as simple as it looks! It was an important backhand that he had set up. If it was all about power, he could have just increased the power of the laser weapon, why would he need to add another electromagnetic cannon?
Chitauri, Kree, you are welcome to visit Earth in the future!
...
Just after arriving in New York, Erik saw Tony Stark on his doorstep. The guy looked like he hadn't slept all night, his eyes were bloodshot, his hair was a mess, his clothes were covered in creases, and he was sitting straight up on the curb; no one would have been able to tell that this was the sassy dude.
Maya Hansen was a little embarrassed to see Stark here.
"Hi, Tony!" Maya Hansen greeted Stark awkwardly, but Stark ignored her, or rather didn't notice her at all.
Hearing Maya Hansen call out to him, Stark finally snapped back to attention, saw Eric and immediately leapt up, grabbing Eric by the collar and shaking him one by one, hissing at the top of his lungs, "Damn you Eric, what have you done to my parents!"
