Chapter 2 - CHAPTER TWO: CHRISTMAS OF HEARTBREAK

I would be lying if I said I had had enough sleep. And you could definitely tell from the dark circles taunting my under eyes. This was a nightmare. Because why is it that the day I plan to meet up with Naruto, for the first time ever, my period decided to make a come back. And in the most painful way ever. Someone was definitely praying on my downfall, but they would not win.

A painful gasp escaped her lips as she bent down a little to calm the horrendous and agressive cramps harassing her back. The night had been long. She had been in the best mood ever when she had decided to head to sleep early, until that lovely 3AM toilet time, where she realized her favorite white bed sheet was now tainted like a crime scene. And of course the first day of her deceased ovary's blood flow, came with the worst cramps in existence.

It was now 10:30AM and she was walking back slowly to her bed to lay down. She had tried taking a bath of burning hot water, which helped of course, up until she got out of there and the cramps immediately started again.

- Whyyyy... she groaned as another sharp pain could be felt and she turned to lay on her belly.

It's then that her phone lit up. A notification reminder. Naruto had texted her 20 minutes ago, probably when she was in the bathtub praying to the Gods to spare her even just for one day.

Unlocking her phone, she saw he had sent her a picture of his breakfast, and right next to the traditional Japanese breakfast plate he was showing off, a brown Shiba-Inu staring right at the lense of the camera.

The picture came along with a text.

- How I'm starting my day. Your side ?

She groaned long, before finally adjusting in a position that would enable her to text back without igniting the worst back pains ever.

She took a picture of her glass terrace door, showing off the beautiful snowy town. It had been snowing heavy since 4AM. And she knew that because she had had to raise the temperature of her heater. Christmas Spirit definitely at play.

The city was beautiful though, still crowded because of people's last minute purchases. Kids roaming the streets with their parents, chanting Christmas songs. That was both an advantage and disadvantage of living in town. The noise was either cute or too much. No in between.

She sent the picture along with a message

- Mine is starting cold, very cold.

He replied immediately with laughing emojis

- Yeah, and by the way the weather report is saying it's going to be snowing a lot today.

- Oh no...

He sent a laughing emoji again

- Not a fan?

- Sometimes, but I don't like when it gets too much, especially today.

The three typing dots got active for a few seconds before a new message popped up.

- What's up with today?

- Let's just say I'm incapacitated for the next 5 days.

After a few seconds of staring at the active 3 typing dots, another message popped up.

- What do you need ?

She internally laughed, as this was Naruto to the core. Checking and making sure everyone was good.

- I think I just need to take a pill and sleep for the next 5hrs, it always gets better after.

- This is common ? He replied

And she realized then, the man had no idea what she had insinuated with the "5 days" statement.

She laughed to herself again, before deciding that it wasnt really a conversation she was comfortable having with anyone usually, especially him.

- Don't worry about it, I just need sleep. But I think if the snow is going to keep up like this we might have to just stick to dinner tonight.

- Sure, we can go in town any day. Get some rest.

- Thank you, cute dog by the way

He sent another laughing emoji

- Name's Kiko, cute yes until she starts crying and screaming. I swear there's nothing worse than a Shiba-Inu's scream.

- Ha! Try a husky.

- Oh God no

And they laughed before she decided to drop her phone, pop her medicine pill and drift to sleep. She prayed and manifested pure healing for when she woke up, because she wanted to make the most out of tonight. She wanted to live this fully.

2PM:

Naruto was staring at the message he had just received from his publicist.

The instructions had been pretty clear for a while. He was asked to lay low 2 months ago after getting in a very threatening accident on the road. That was actually the reason why he was back in Konoha. Staying in Australia right now would have been a nightmare. The press was obsessed with his flaws and everything about him. None of his friends here knew that though, and he chose for it to remain that way.

But now he was annoyed. He had told his publicist that he wouldn't be available for a zoom call in the evening because he was spending Christmas Eve with a friend and of course Stanley rushed to ask if it was a woman.

- We've had enough scandals about women don't you think? He had said.

His tone. He never watched his tone. Naruto was honestly growing sick of it. The man did barely anything but help manage scandals and what to say. So why heavens was he always talking like he was the boss of him? He never understood that. The man annoyed him. And yes, he had tried many times to fire him, but it didn't help that he was good at his job, and was part japanese so could understand Japanese very well. So no language barrier when it came to communicating with him and etc. Too convenient to fire.

But still, he was annoyed. So he just stared at the text while sipping on his energy drink.

Kiko started barking by the door, signaling that the food he had ordered from room service had finally arrived.

He dropped his phone on the kitchen counter before heading towards the door and greeting the enthusiastic employee.

- Afternoon sir, I brought the meal you asked for earlier.

He smiled before stepping away so she could bring the food inside.

- Have you heard from the maid that was supposed to decorate the dining table ? He asked, as he closed the door behind her.

She turned to nod.

- She's on her way right now, her shift just started.

- Great. Please forward to her the pictures I sent of what I want the dining area to look like for the evening yeah ?

- Understood.

He nodded before disappearing in his master bedroom.

Removing his shirt immediately, he stared at himself in the mirror, thoughtful. It was fun being back in Konoha. Most of his friends still lived here. He met the boys every Friday to have some drinks and talk about life, he saw his old professors around town, some married, some with grown kids now. It was honestly so amazing being back.

But this place was also a hard place to only attach good memories to. Some people still looked at him as a dirty son of a criminal. Others still badmouthed him as he filled their tv screens with his formula 1 success.

He had grown not to care about people's feelings about him a long time ago, but he was never able to completely ignore them. Especially now that he was constantly in the limelight. His past had been brought up very early in his career to discredit his growth, downplay his successes and bully him to praise his opponents on the trackfield. Those who hated his guts always loved to bring up how he was the son of a murderer, a good for nothing orphan...

Running a hand through his mid length blond hair, the man sighed.

He was honestly sick of the limelight. Especially after everything that happened with Hailey, the one he had thought he was going to marry and love for the rest of his life who ended up betraying him in the worst way possible. Life was indeed a bitch.

He caught a glimpse of the tattoo he had gotten in honor of their love. She had gotten the exact same one. A smiling emoji. That had been their first bond. A simple emoji and he never forgot about it. Which was now a reminder of painful days. So of course it was a blessing that he had a booked appointment in two weeks to get it covered by his mother's name. That would help delete the last trace of that evil woman from his life again.

After a long thoughtful shower, he came out of it to his phone ringing. Picking it up, Sasuke was calling him.

- Hey dark and broody, wassup?

- Sakura's harassing me to go to that stupid reunion again, can you tell your bestfriend to get off my ass?

He chuckled, these two's relationship had always been a turmoil.

- Oh please don't act like you don't love the attention. Why don't you wanna come though?

- You're going ?

He sat on his bed in his towel before staring at the tv screen showing some anime.

- Of course, I haven't attended in 5 years

- For good reasons though, aren't you like hella famous of something ?

- I'm in Konoha right now, not relevant.

- Lol, if that helps you sleep at night, just check that it's not happening in a public space if you're going, if I'm coming I absolutely don't want the crowd.

- You're gonna come, Sakura's single now.

- Like I care.

And on that, Sasuke hung up. Leaving him to make fun of him yet again. This man had a weird obsession with pretending he didn't care about her when all he did was make sure he was aware of everything going on in her life.

It was common knowledge the pink haired punk had tons of feelings for him back in a day. Which he never minded until she started her dating journey, and every single man she had a fling with, he hated more. She had no clue though, which was again, fucking hilarious.

By the time he was done getting ready, he shot a quick text at Hinata, hoping by this time she was awake and better.

Opening the conversation, he clicked on her contact picture and stared.

Literally, anybody that had eyes knew this woman had the biggest care for him back in the day. She was always the nicest and sweetest girl in the friend group. But also the most quiet one. Especially around him. His friends back then always made fun of him when she ran away when he walked in the room or decided to sit 30 feet away from him at the cafeteria. Back then even though it was funny, it was hard to ignore. Especially because her brother was one of his good friends.

And boy was Hirashi crazy. The dude had always been a smart ass, very intelligent but one heck of an overprotective bastard. That was probably one of the reasons why Naruto had never looked at Hinata back then. He's never care for drama like that.

On top of the fact that he was a complete horn-dog back then too. She just didn't fit his taste in women, she was too innocent and scared, he would've ruined her. So he never looked her way. Not until one day though, but she probably didn't know about that night. No one did. But that day, he had noticed just how absolutely stunning that woman was, both in spirit and physically.

She had no clue, and it was going to be real fun to make her aware of it.

5:12PM

- OH GOD !

They had planned to meet at 5pm and it was 5:12pm. Of course she was late. She hadn't even showered yet. She had planned to wear one of her best outfits yet and wear some make up finally after 3 years off that. But of course she wouldn't have time to do that.

He had texted her at 4PM to ask if she was okay so she rushed to text him back.

- Heya, sorry I'm just waking, I guess I put the alarm at 5AM instead of 5PM

His reply was immediate, laughing emojis per usual.

- No worries, you feeling better though?

- Yeah, definitely, the pills did their magic.

And they absolutely did, cause when she got up, she felt nothing other than the heaviness of the tampon she needed to remove expeditiously.

- I'll text you when I leave, send me the adress in the meantime ?

- Sure thing. Take your time by the way, we have all evening to be honest.

She smiled

- Okay

It took her an hour to be done. And staring at her reflection in the mirror she was glad she had gotten some rest. Her dark circles were gone. Covered of CC cream, she had added some pink blush to show off her pale skin.

For once in her life she had been able to apply fake eyelashes without too much hassle. She had worn a simple white dress with some brown boots and a brown jacket. Her black hair was tied up, only leaving her bangs to caress her full dark eyebrows. She looked good.

The dress was modest but still showed off her small curves and she felt quite shy of it. She had almost worn something else, but Sakura had convinced her this was the dress so she didn't.

As she closed the door to her apartment, she shot him a quick text.

- Leaving right now.

- I'm downstairs. He replied immediately.

Shocked, she rushed to the elevator.

- What? How long you've been waiting ?

- Don't worry I just arrived I guess.

When the elevator finally opened at the ground floor she could see him standing at the reception of her building. Looking through magazines, black shades on. Oh yes, the man shouldn't forget he is famous.

Thankfully the reception area wasn't busy, apart from the employees going back and forth through the elevators and the security guard eating by the entrance.

Slowly walking towards him, she stared at what he was reading. It was an article about him.

Somehow feeling her presence behind him the man turned fully to take her in.

The shades barring his intense stare away made her less nervous about him noticing her. So she smiled with a nervous and gave a childish handshake.

He smiled back before gesturing to the entrance. She followed quietly.

And as she sat in his car, filled with that addictive perfume he'd been wearing yesterday, she closed her eyes, slowly taking this reality in. She was here, in Naruto's car. He had come to pick her up, and they were now heading to his house to have dinner together. This was actually insane. Last week she wouldn't have imagined this to be real. The man had never noticed her.

Her eyes went open when she heard him close his door side as he put in his seat belt. When he was done, he looked at her quietly. His shades removed. He didn't say anything, only the radio was playing in the quietness of the car.

So she stared back, without a word. On a normal day, she would have never looked at this man in the eyes for so long, but right now, she felt beautiful. She felt powerful. She felt like she was where she was supposed to be.

So she smiled at him, and of course he smiled back.

- I didn't know you were back in Konoha for 2 years. He said, as he poured another glass of wine for her.

It was 12AM and they had spent most of the night catching up. The man had such a high tolerance for alcohol. He had been listening to her rambling about her life, for the past 7hrs and was barely drunk.

His place was absolutely gorgeous. The dining area was wonderfully decorated with bows, lights, candles on the long and wide wooden dinner table. The food was a lot, and he ate most of it of course. Because who could forget that Naruto had the stomach of a hippo ?

She giggled, wine had made everything so funny for no reason. Hinata was never a great drinker. And that's probably why he hadn't served her too much. Just one drink every two hours, that she would sip for the next two, but even that already made her quite tipsy.

- I had a good time in Tokyo, school was fun. I made some friends. My thick accent was probably the non fun part, and the traffic, gosh I hate Tokyo traffic.

He chuckled as he sat forward, more attentive to her story.

- What about socially ? Did you have a lot of success?

This time she took her time to answer. She was never a social butterfly, quite literally the polar opposite. But in Tokyo she had taken the resolution of actually trying to get out of her bubble. And multiple bad experiences happened which led her to not really have that much interest for it anymore.

- You can say that... she replied, eyes looking away.

- That's good, I would have loved to see that, you were always really secluded at Konoha High school

She sipped on her wine again before looking up, straight at him. He didn't look away. He never did. She was always the one losing first. But this time she wouldn't.

- Nothing's changed you know... I'm still that quiet girl, with the quiet life, the shy tendencies and weak stage presence.

He stayed quiet and continued to stare, as if encouraging her to continue, so she did.

- I tried to stray away from being that person after high school, I wanted to be like everyone else, until I realized there was nothing wrong with me. I had to learn that the hard way though.

- You were bullied ? He asked

- Not really, but I was kind of forced into crowds that did not share the same values as me and tried to make me feel bad for it.

He continued staring and she chuckled, feeling suddenly stupid.

- Gosh I keep talking, this is embarassing.

He shook his head as he took her drink and sipped on it.

- You're fine, I actually enjoy having you talk to me than running away

She chuckled and sunk deeper into her chair. Taking a breath from the intensity of his stare and the alcohol becoming too much. That's when he spoke.

- You don't have to be scared of me you know ? I don't bite...

And her drunk self immediately replied with a sarcastic giggle.

- You do.

She looked up then and found him staring yet again. And instead of looking away like she would have on a normal day, she continued staring and repeated.

- You do.

So then, slowly, the man got up, dragged his chair closer to hers, as if so they faced each other. Sat right next to her. One hand behind her chair and the other on the table, holding her glass of wine.

- So then... are you scared? He asked, playing the glass of wine around in circles as he stared at her right in her face.

A sigh escaped her lips as she noticed the irises of his blues widening implying she had his entire attention. She replied immediately, the pull was too much.

- Shitless...

He stared for a few seconds again, before nodding.

- I'm not scared.

Hinata giggled again, this time looking away.

- Of course you're not. You're fucking Naruto.

She looked back and he wasn't smiling, just curious. But he seemed to have gotten a lot more closer to her. His face was right here.

- And what does that mean ? I wanna know.

Hinata stared back quietly before looking away and hesitantly answering.

- You're not scared of anything, you live for the highs, you still make sure to have fun at the lows, you love pain because you're a sucker for adrenaline, anything you don't understand you'll try to crack it open and dissect it until you know all it's content, you're just you...life doesn't scare you, because you know what being scared is. So you never want to go back to that again. You compete with your fears constantly as a reminder that you're alive.

And then, she felt his hand under her chin. He stared quietly, intensively. Lifting her face towards him. His other hand was guiding the wine glass towards her pink glossy lips, and the next second she felt the bitter-sweet taste of the expensive wine roll on her tongue. But the man still stared at her, then her lips then back to her eyes.

And when she was done with the glass of wine entirely, he got right in her face again. Staring at her lips.

His stare too loaded for her weak mind. She looked down at his lips as well and hoped, prayed and manifested that he'd kiss her right that second. But he didn't. The want and need was clear in his eyes but he didn't cross that line.

The stares lasted a few more seconds, his finger caressing her cheek as he continued mentally devouring her lips.

And then he spoke, no whispered.

- Noted.

Before releasing her chin and getting up from his chair.

And Hinata heaved hard as the man disappeared into one room. So she sat there, out of breath as the fog of drunkness faded away. Then she took in mentally the intense sexual attraction that had just taken place. This man wanted her. He absolutely did.

But was she ready for him?

Lol she would never be.
