Laying on the bed, her body slowly began to relax and her breathing grew more steady. Just as Scarlett felt herself falling back asleep, a knock was heard at the door again. Making her way to the door and opening it, and as she had suspected, it was Marion.
"The master is requesting your presence." Marion said with slight irritation.
Again? Scarlett thought. What is that man doing torturing us like this? Putting on her slippers, she followed Marion out of the servant's quarters again.
"The master is requesting for us to have his sheets changed. He said it was urgent." Marion said as the two ladies made their way towards the west wing, again.
As they reached Demetri's bedroom, Marion knocked on the door before entering the room. Both ladies walked in and saw that Demetri's bed had been drenched in water.
"I came back to retrieve a file from my drawer and it looks like an elf demon is out to get me tonight. It looks as if the thing had taken a pail of water and dumped it right on my bed." Demetri said. "I think we are going to need to tighten our security around here. I reckon you both be careful as well. Those elf demons are real tricksters you know." He continued to say in a serious tone, with a look on his face showing that he was truly worried.
Faking a smile, Marion turned to the girl and spoke, "Scarlett, would you be so kind to retrieve the new sheets? It is down the hall and to the right. The storage room is the third door down."
"Sure." The girl said in her usual soft tone and followed Marion's instructions down the hall.
"Elf demon? You cannot be serious." Marion said with a snort. Her brows raised, as she put her weight on one leg and crossed her arms. "I have lived much, much longer than you, Demetrius. Care to tell me why I have never met one of these elf demons before?" Marion continued in an irritated tone.
"I guess you've been a very lucky woman, Marion." Demetri replied with a cheeky smile.
"The only trickster around here is you, Demetrius. Whatever prank it is that you are playing, I suggest you stop it now. I do not have the patience to deal with your childish acts." Marion said scoldingly as she pointed a blaming finger at the man.
At that moment, Scarlett had returned with the new sheets. Marion turned around to help the girl bring the sheets over, as the two began to change Demetri's sheets. Demetri sat on the couch with crossed arms as he observed the red-haired girl change his sheets.
"Do you need anything else, Demetri?" Marion questioned in a serious tone after the two ladies had completely changed his sheets.
"No. I will just be back in my study to finish up some work. You have a good night now." Demetri said with a small smile.
With this demeanor, Marion just somehow knew that this was not the last time the man would be calling for them tonight. With a sigh, she walked Scarlett back to the servant's quarters. As Scarlett entered the servant's quarters, Marion went to the grand staircase and sat on one of the steps. It was no use returning to her room when the man was going to mind link her again.
Scarlett laid back down on her bed as she tossed and turned. This time it was even harder for her to fall back asleep as she was now irritated with the master's ridiculous requests. Does that man never sleep? Why is he still awake finishing his work at this time of day? And must he have so many requests. She has to serve the man until the next moon, how is she going to survive if the man is this demanding. After laying in her bed for a while with her scattered thoughts, she heard a knock on the door. Again? She thought, as she got up to open the door. Of course, Marion was standing at the door.
"Master is requesting my presence?" Scarlett said with a sigh.
"Yes." Marion responded as she nodded.
The two ladies returned to the west wing. This time, Demetri did not even bother telling Marion what he needed, and just demanded her to bring the girl over. As they reached his study, Marion knocked on the door.
"Please, come in." Demetri said with a smile while sitting comfortably in his chair, as if he had been waiting for them. He knew Marion's character, and the humans don't say 'third time's the charm' for nothing. He felt her giving in after the two had replaced his sheets earlier. The woman was going to crack now.
"Demetrius Delmonte, I have had it with you! If this is what you are going to do, you might as well keep her here and have the lady sleep in a room next to you. Do you know how long it takes to walk from the servant's quarters to the west wing? Your requests are ridiculous! Let us have some peace!" Marion spoke with anger as she walked toward the man.
"Oh really, Marion? What a wonderful suggestion. Why did I not think of that before? Brilliant idea. Since you have brought it up and are willing, I will take your offer." Demetri said matter-of-factly, as he feigned innocence.
Anger rose in Marion's heart. She had been played and she knew this was the man's plan all along. He knew she was growing irritated and was going to use her words against her. "Demetri, you know I did not mean it like that." Marion said, seriously.
"Marion, you have offered me your servant, and I have accepted. You cannot take it back anymore. We have an agreement, and from now on she will be my servant, full moon or not." Demetri responded, continuing to play innocent.
This man was the worst with his tricks, and she knew he was not going to stop until he got what he wanted. Admitting defeat, Marion walked toward Scarlett with a heavy sigh. "Scarlett, you best stay in the west wing so you do not have to travel so far to serve your master. I will have your items moved from the servant's quarters to the west wing in the morning."
"What do you mean?" The girl asked with furrowed brows.
"I am afraid I will not be able to convince the master otherwise." Marion said, sighing shamefully. She had lived with this man for thousands of years, and it was not that she did not know what the man was planning. Although she knew his plans, it was as if her mind had a life of its own, allowing him to have what he wanted because she knew it would bring him joy.
"Just like that?" Scarlett questioned with surprise.
"He will not do anything bad, I promise." Marion responded, reaching her hands out to pat the girl's head as if she was comforting her before taking off and returning to her room.
Scarlett stood there, feeling extremely confused. So just like that, she is now the master's servant? Permanently? She had to sleep in the west wing with him?
"Worry not, bunny. I will not ask you to do anything you do not agree to." Demetri said in a serious tone, interrupting the girl's thoughts.
After hearing the man's words, the girl felt herself relax and her heart felt more at ease. If an agreement was taken so seriously in the demon world, surely, his promise would not be taken lightly either. "You requested my presence, master. What would you like me to do?"
"I was going to have you help me search for my spectacles. However, it is getting late now. We should head to bed."
"Okay." Scarlett said, softly, as she nodded. "Which room should I take?"
"You will be sleeping with me in my room of course."
