"Okay class, do your research and send your reports, two days after." The female teacher said to them. Caramiel didn't mind to pass his report all by himself. But some of classmates started complaining.
"What!?"
"Aw come professor!"
"How can we pass the reports at that short time!?"
"Here we go again, Such a bunch of lazy assess." he muttered in low voice. He kept his calm and relaxed look. He didn't mind the project because he will do it after he went home. Unlike his classmates that they needed many days to finish the project, or sometimes, they don't.
"Class! Silence Please!" their teacher shouted and slapped his at the table, silencing everyone in the room. He started scolding the students. "You know, I always keep my cool on you guys but your really testing my patience." said the teacher.
The teacher continued to talk. "Why don't you make Caramiel as an inspiration? All of his projects was made by by himself. And even more excellent than your projects that are made in groups. If anyone of will you object, I won't listen. Now shoo! Class dismissed and see you tomorrow." he stood up and pick up his belongings, seconds after, the bell rings and everyone started to leave.
Caramiel also pick up his belongings and leave the classroom. He can feel some of his classmates gazes at him. Some are admiration, but some are annoyance. It didn't matter to him as long as he ignore them. Suddenly, he felt his cellphone vibrate in his pockets.
Cellphones are now advanced that it didn't need connect to cellular towers. Instead, they can communicate wherever they go. He quickly plug his earphones and answer his caller.
"Hi Mom." Caramiel said in low voice. "Oh hi my angel! Sorry angel, but I'm going to be late for the dinner tonight." his mother said. It's okay to him that his mother will have overtime.
"Oh! By the way Mom. Should I-" before he say his important thing, his mother cut him off. "Sorry angel, my boss is here. Bye!" and the call ended. Caramiel couldn't help sigh deeply.
"Well, here goes my birthday." he said in bored tone. Caramiel take out his wallet and opened it. A fake smile appeared on his lips when he see the last thing that reminds him to his father. A picture of his father and mother, having a selfie with the newborn him.
After all, he's living with his mom on affordable housing in a city. Doing jobs of an unblessed person. Working for profit to sustain themselves everyday. He didn't noticed that a teardrop fell from his eye.
"Hey Ramiel! Dude, wait for me!" Someone shouted that made stop from his tracks. Caramiel quickly closed his wallet and wipe off the tear. Then, he turned around and see his friend. "Hey dude, what's up?" he answered.
"Dude, I told you that you should wait for me. Oh by the way.... Happy birthday!" his friend shouted. Most of his friends are.... well, not teenagers. For a fourteen year old like him, he was kinda.... overly smart for a person. Right now, he's a first year college student on a university of unblessed students.
In front of him, standing in one hundred eighty inches, a young man in wearing a black leather jacket. This guy looked like a member of a gang group. He couldn't but shake his head. "You know, it sucks when seeing you wearing black leather jacket, everyday" said Caramiel.
"I'll do what I want to do. And besides, you wear jacket too." Justin raised an eyebrow. "But it's not black leather jacket. And- 'sigh' Nevermind, So did you pass the exam, if not, then I'm not going to help you to any again, believe me Justin, believe me." he said to his friend.
"Relax I made it, see." said Justin and show his paper. Caramiel nodded and started to walk away from his friend.
"Hey! How about we something to drink. You know." said Justin while doing a drinking gesture. "Fine, but no alcoholic drinks. And I am still teenager. I still remembered that weird day. Hell, you do some shits." he couldn't help it but to shake his head.
Justin just only laughed at the his words. His friend kept laughing for long time until he coughed at his own saliva.
"Looks like the bad karma got you." said Caramiel to his friend. It was hard keep himself from laughing at friend's misfortune. "Well- 'cough!' karma- 'cough!' sucks."
"Well see you next week then. Have a nice life!" he said and walk away.
It took ten minutes to reached his destination and entered the establishment. He took off jacket and wear his uniform, ready to start his work as a time cook. All of his co-workers saw him and greet him happy birthday.
His boss was the mastermind of the surprise party and this is why the restaurant has no costumers. They party for two hours until it started to get dark.
But he suddenly stopped at his tracks, the sky is dark and it looks like it will rain hard. Lightning flashed from the sky, so Caramiel ran as fast as he can.
Soon he came to an abandoned church, it's not on bad condition though. Since the humanity started to worship other Gods, the church became abandoned.
All Caramiel don't know, something that will change his life. And that thing is inside of the church.
