Chapter 123 - Dove’s Home

A few hours passed and it was already becoming night in Ozoth. We spent that time eating in the eating hall of the castle. It was pretty similar to the eating hall that was in Prusha's university, lot of tables to sit at and the food here was…

Well I don't want to be mean about this world's food again, but I don't believe anything here could compare to my world's food. Take into consideration what i had to eat, Now in my world, it would be named Pad see ew. The Thai dish. There was a similar dish here in this world, flat broad noodles made by some rice from the kingdom, some meat and eggs that went along with it, and a sauce that reminded me of what they used in it. The two dishes would look quite alike if you just put them side to side.

Only damn problem that made me feel weird was the fact that this tasted completely off from what I remember. It practically ruined my appetite that I took a few bites. I had to switch to an alternative, Something that Elena had actually made. She went back to her dorms to cook up some food, and surprisingly she made some stir fried rice that was nicely made.

Kale and Lilith also had the noodle dish that I had. And oddly enough, Lilith didn't like it…least that's what I thought. She had a weird look in her eyes as she continued to eat up the meal. Once she finished it, she gave me a ghastly look. Meanwhile, Kale looks completely fine after eating it.

"What's wrong with you? Something wrong with it?" I remember kale saying to her.

"Agh…It's uh…I don't feel that well in my stomach…"

Oh my god, it was the wax from the cheese wheel in her stomach. Coming back to haunt her. I should've expected that at some point it would…Which is why I found myself smiling a little bit as Lilith looked like she was going to barf.

Do not eat inedible items.

Anyways, we finished up our dinner for today. When we left the courtyard of the castle, it was already late evening. The whole kingdom was left with this nice orange sky alongside a beautiful view of the setting sun, quite a breathtaking view.

Chris wouldn't be going along with us. Why? Well King Vergis didn't want to leave Chris alongside us as his noble rank granted him permission to stay in one of the quarters in the castle. With Chris not being a part of our mission at the moment, it wasn't necessary to put him into any real danger.

I recall how our conversation went before we left.

At first, it seemed like he hated the idea. "Waaah! No! I don't want to be in this place by myself! This is abu-." Chris yelled, clinging to kale's pants. But he soon stopped when he was approached by some maids of the castle. Two elf women bowed at him, A dark skinned one and a white who looked to be in their twenties.

"Master

It seemed almost instant that he let go of Kale's leg and stood more straight, puffing his chest out as he looked at the maids.

"…

When we walked out of the castle's front door, Kale and Elena noticed something. Just to the left of us was the Training ground, which was occupied by a group of guards. This was also where Korbyn was, who didn't attend dinner with us. I could see the dark skinned elf man still inside the pin, now all muddied as he waved his hands.

"Hmph, so we went back to training the guards after I told him to drop off our food…" Elena noted. She then walked her way towards the training grounds. "I'm sure you four can find your way to your destination, I'll need to make sure Korbyn isn't torturing these guards of ours to death with his shenanigans."

"Sounds like him." Kale rubbed his nose as he said that. "He's always thinking of ways to make you question his sanity."

"Indeed. Have a safe trip." Elena said with a smile. She waved a farewell to all of us before going back to her stoic look and marching her way to the training ground.

As we watched, I could clearly hear Elena as she spoke. "Oi! There's no training session at this point of time, what the hell are you doing?!" Her voice was loud, and quite scary. The guards in the pit jumped at her voice alongside with dropping whatever they had in their hands. "Korbyn! Get out of the pen and take a bath!"

"Haha, Make me!" Korbyn cackled. "Try it, glasses nerd!" He then spread his arms wide out, challenging her. "What's wrong? I've been teaching them Earth King style moves? You know, I can show you a move or two!"

Kale then leaned in next to us, whispering. "Watch what happens to Korbyn, this sort of stuff always happens to him."

"Oh?! Kale? And the kids! You guys are also out here!" Korbyn then noticed us, he turned towards us and waved. A large smile formed on his face. "Kale, you wanna get in the pit? Get a lil dirty in the pit with me! Don't be an old man!"

Kale frowned, and simply put his hands around his mouth. "Sword." Was the only thing that came out of his mouth as he yelled.

"What?!" Korbyn said, confused.

"Sword."

"…like a sword fight? You want to sword fight?"

"No. A Sword is coming at you."

"What? What do yo-"

Just then, I saw a long chain fling its way towards Korbyn. It quickly made its way past Korbyn before suddenly turning its way back, spinning around the man, wrapping him up in quick succession. Looking at where the chain was coming from, it was Elena who was holding her WhipBlade. She looked to have a furious look in her eyes and she clenched the handle of her blade.

Korbyn looked down with surprise, if looks were to be described…It would be :V.

"Glasses nerd?" Elena said with a loud tone. "I guess I need to remind you who's in charge!"

"W-wait! This is unfai-Ahh!" Korbyn couldn't finish his plea as Elena yanked on her handle, propelling the man out of the pen. Flying up into the air, Korbyn yelled as he was sent straight down right to Elena's feet. I noticed that Elena was using her free hand to guide her blade. Perhaps she was manipulating the blade itself to not cause harm to Korbyn? It didn't look like the blades were hurting him, but I'm pretty sure the impact of the floor had caused major damage to him.

Korbyn laid on the ground, struggling in the whip blade's grasp as Elena stood over him with cold eyes. She then planted one of her feet on his chest, He then let out a nervous laughter as she leaned closer to him.

"Haha…hah, you got me there. Caught me off guard."

"Don't bark up a tree you can't climb." Elena then dug her heels into his chest. "Especially when that tree is filled to the brim with ivy!" She then tugged at her blade's handle, tightening the grip around Korbyn.

"Ow-Ow! Hey, I get it! No need for your sadistic mind to be here!"

With Korbyn Yielding to her, she scoffed and loosened the blades around him. "You say that, but in the next week. You'll be back to your old shenanigans."

As the blades retracted and let go of Korbyn, he stood up and cleaned himself. "Yeah, but what fun would it be if I always listened?"

"Tsk." Elena clicked her tongue as she gave Korbyn a good kick to his back. "Alright! Get back to our dorm! And get cleaned up, you smell." She then looked back at the guards that were watching. "And the rest of you, get back into the barracks and do something more productive than watching!"

"Yes!" All of the guards and Korbyn yelled. The guards quickly left the pen, I could see the trail of mud behind them as they went into their barracks. I guess the large building was their home. Korbyn proceeded to walk his way towards us, wiping mud off of himself as Elena followed behind him.

The two approached us as we did stand by the door. "You know, you could've said anything else besides swords." Korbyn said to Kale.

"I thought you would've figured it out. You didn't hear the blade coming at you?"

Korbyn then banged his head, Mud flying out of his ears. "Would you believe me if I said I couldn't hear it?"

"How'd you hear my voice then?"

"Nothing can stop me from hearing that beautiful voice of yours." Korbyn's mouth formed a creepy smile.

"…Alright. Kids, we are leaving immediately." Kale cringed at his response. He turned away from the man and gave us a disgusted face. "That is not a face I thought I'd see today…"

"Ahaha!" Korbyn laughed as he walked and opened the castle doors, Elena followed behind him.

The three of us then walked away in the courtyard, going down the same path we did earlier to the adventurers district. As we walked, it was then that I noticed kale chuckling to himself.

"What's wrong?" Lilith asked him. He simply turned his face and continued laughing.

"Hehe…Nothing, he just looked stupid. Good ol' Korbyn."

Seeing him think about his friend in that manner reminded me of how I had friends in my past. All the back talking and joking with each other made me feel kinda lonely. But I have everyone here

"Ok, Kota." Kale said to me. "Lead us to this Mallory house."

****

Passing through the Adventurers District, we headed south towards the South Gate. This gate actually led to Ithryll and through its region. But before we got there, we had to go through the residential district. It was stacked with buildings that reminded me of duplexes and those narrow alleys that barely seemed to fit two people going at once. Buildings ranged from one story to three stories with most of them having balconies to them. I noticed clothing lines attached to buildings across from another, clothes hanging to dry off of them.

There also seemed to be an odd classification in this kingdom, as I noticed that most of the people who lived here looked to be more qualified for farming or less skilled jobs. It seemed most of the richer people lived in the trading district, which meant…This was probably the poor side of Ozoth.

Nevertheless, Kale pushed us through this district. He knew the way to the South Gate in this district and quickly guided us through it with the shortcuts he knew. I don't think he really liked being in this area, he had his right hand firmly planted onto his left sword at all times as we went through here.

As we got to the South Gate, we needed to head a little further down to where The Mallory's second home was. There was a long path we needed to follow that had large farms along it, wheat farms and rice farms.

Roul told me that once there was a particular warehouse with a large well in front of it, we'd be looking at the house. So I kept an eye on that, eventually I did spot it.

"There." I pointed out. Just on the left side of us, was a large house that had an even larger Storehouse next to it. The two buildings were made of stone, along with the fairly large well that resided at the front of the yard.

The three of us made our way to the house. But it was when we were walking that something caught my attention, something that made me halt in my steps. As Kale went on ahead to look at the home, Lilith stopped in front of me for a moment to look at the well.

What? Was she curious about what wells had in them? Wait, why would she be curious? I thought Shanford had a well as well, she should know what wells are.

…Wait hold on, didn't she have a stomach ache or something earlier? She isn't thinking of vomiting right now, is she?

"Lilith? Are you alright?" I asked her. My voice caused her to jump, her hands gripping the well as she looked back at me.

"Ah! Yeah! Just…" She paused, looking down once more. "Something is pondering my mind."

"Oh…Is it thinking that you might vomit?…Because I don't think it'd be good to vomit in there…"

"No…My stomach doesn't hurt that much anymore. I think I should be fine." She continued to look into the well, her eyes narrowing as it looked like she was focusing on something in the well.

"Then what's on your mind?" I asked, approaching her. I took a look down the well alongside her and only saw my own reflection.

My blue eyes, black hair that seemed to be growing a substantial amount…Actually, my hair has grown quite long. I recall the last time I really looked at my hair was back in Prusha some months ago. looking at it now, it seems that my hair was…growing in length. I could see my black hair going down to my shoulders. Alongside my reflection was Lilith, who had a stressed look on her face. Her amber eyes in the reflection veered to me as she spoke.

"Hey…Remember when we were in shanford and I went to my home?"

"Yeah? Are you thinking about that?"

"Mhm…Something happened there. Something bad."

"Oh…you want to talk about it? Is it your dad?"

"No, it's not him…" Her reflection frowned. "It's those visions again."

Huh, her visions? Like the ones from a while ago, they came back? Why'd they come back?

"Why'd you wait so long to tell me that?" I glanced up from the well and looked at Lilith directly.

"Well I didn't want to interfere with our escorting and…well we've been quite busy. I guess now that things have cooled down, we can talk properly."

"Kids!" Both me and Lilith heard Kale call us. "Got the door open! We can get in!"

As Kale entered the home, Lilith turned her gaze to me. "Can we talk about it tonight?"

"Of course. Got Nothing better to do…I think." I assured her.

She then smiled, pushing herself away from the well. "Great, But let me take a bath first if they even have one!" Seemingly getting that issue off her chest, she sounded much more cheerful than before.

As Lilith walked to the house, I took a long look at the large house for a moment. we were going to use for the time being. And For how large it was, it'd surely accommodate a whole family…obviously. But something about it…made a piece of me somewhat uncomfortable, but I mean…what's the worst that can happen with us three in the house?
