Chapter 38 - Two Lessons

[Lilith's Perspective]

I looked around the university as I walked behind Tera. The brown wooden floors accompanied the white wall painting quite well.

Tera was talking about kale mostly on the way to her classroom, asking me about how he was doing with our training. I gave her my report on him as she chuckled.

"You are a fascinating girl, Lilith. Straight to the point with some of the things you say." She made that compliment to me when we found her classroom.

"But there is one thing I'd like to teach you. Something that kale could never do." Tera invited me into her room. Once I entered, I noticed Kota's backpack and two others. The other two might be for the others that sat with him during lunch.

"As much as I love seeing you holding a sword and training, You don't really know how to interact with others correctly." Tera continued. "Your social skills are lacking, unlike Kota."

My social skills? What about them? As much as I'd like to talk to others, I usually end up staying quiet. I'm not much of a talker since I really didn't have anything to bring up.

"You need to learn to start a conversation, talking. Instead of having me or Kale or Kota hold a conversation. Like right now, since you aren't even talking…"

I stiffened at that, because she was right. Usually I'd let those three talk for me or I'm forced to talk by them. I end up just giving short answers or just acting blunt.

"A-alright, I'll try to talk…" I finally responded.

"Good!" Tera clapped her hands and hurriedly walked to a seat. "Come, sit next to me!"

Awkwardly, I took a seat to her left as she faced me. She looked at me with interest, her eyes taking a gander from bottom to top.

"Now what to talk about…let's talk about girl stuff, Lilith." Tera put her hands under her chin, smiling. "You don't really care about what you look like do you?"

"No…it doesn't really come to mind. Why should it?" I found no reason in trying to make myself look good, I never really thought about it when I put my clothes on or when I'm training. Why would I need to look good when I'm fighting?

"Ah, I know what you're thinking about training and whatnot. But at some point, maybe when you get older, you'll probably notice Kota looking at you differently." Tera smiled even more when she said that.

"H-hey, what do you mean?!" I felt my cheeks burn when I blurted that out. What do you mean he'll see me differently? Looking at myself, I wore that white dress today with the shoes I usually wore. When I looked back at tera, she looked at me with amusement.

"Hmm, that boy is your crush isn't he? Fufu.."

"No-i mean- yes?!" I randomly blurted that out before palming my face.

"Haha! Ooh goodness. Well, I would say that the boy has some quirkiness to him. He seems smart enough for his age to be a teen or a young adult. He's just oblivious to most things. Like you."

"Huh?"

"Oh come on, I see how you act around him. Not like me or kale have noticed anything. Does kale know as well?" Tera leaned further on the desk, getting closer to me as she smiled. She watched as I squirmed and looked away from her. "So he knows as well! Haha!"

"W-why are you asking me this?!" I slammed on her desk, which tera didn't flinch at. There was only amusement in her eyes as she looked at me.

"Oh…so that's what it looks like…" she pointed at her left eye.

Noticing it now, I felt a surge of energy accumulate on my left eye. My Dragon eye activated. Why?!

"Perhaps your emotions are truly the way to activate it…intriguing…" Tera examined it, squinting her eyes as she looked into my left eye.

"W-did you only do that to see if you could activate it?" I frantically asked.

"No. I am curious about your relationship with Kota. I didn't think bringing him up would cause that much emotion but I suppose this is a bonus. Lilith, do you feel any mana in your eye?" Tera asked. "Any feelings? Such a deep red color you have for that eye…"

Mana? That surge of energy might be it, but I didn't even know I had mana I could control?

"Dragon mana works in a different way, Lilith. Perhaps your parents never told you, yes?"

I nodded my head.

"Hmm. I should let this part be done by kale, but he isn't here so he can't stop me." Tera got out of her seat and walked to her desk, rummaging through her drawer until she found a book.

"Dragon mana is essentially what we normally have, though it is at a higher degree of temperature. I believe it has something to do with how their bodies interact with the mana. The dragon race has a higher resistance to mana, so they can mana cloak with ease along any parts of their body, even their most vulnerable spots." She placed the book in front of me. "This book here was written some time ago, by some traveler who ended up finding one of the nests for the dragon race. There they observed them and wrote down their habits and what they were capable of." She flipped open the book and pointed at one of the pages. "See this here, this page talks about the dragon's eyes. Essentially, it was used to assist the dragons with navigating at high speeds and to easily spot prey from a distance. Sound familiar?"

I couldn't read that part since I could read, but I nodded at her explanation.

"Now, I'm not sure to what extent your blood is. But it could be possible that you haven't seen the most of what you can do."

"Like..?" I asked.

"Who knows, maybe you can breathe fire from your mouth. You'll grow wings, I don't know. That is something we'll need to see and unfortunately…contain." Tera closed the book and rested it aside, looking seriously at me. "We wouldn't want any of the kingdom to know of a dragon hybrid being capable of that, you'd be killed."

I gulped when she said that. Why are the kingdoms afraid of the dragon race? What's so powerful about them? Why would they be terrified of me?

"Now! Back on topic! Kota, the boy…" Tera got back into the same seat next to me. "You know, thinking of it now. I don't think it was stress that caused the activation."

I squinted my eyes at her. I didn't feel the energy from my left eye, so it must've deactivated. But what was she trying to say?

"Fufu, you like that boy…no you love that boy now huh?"

Just out of embarrassment, I slammed my head onto the desk and covered my face. I heard tera laughing when I did that.

"Relax, I'm not telling him about this, or kale. This is just between me and you." I heard Tera switching her position in her chair when I looked back up and she was leaning back now. "See, it's a girls talk!"

I slumped my head down on the desk. Please end this conversation…

"Ah, don't be embarrassed! Only natural that you love someone. You're talking to someone who is in love with someone who isn't." Tera pointed at herself. "But in your case, I believe it's only a matter of time before you two really understand each other."

"What do you mean?" My face was buried in my arms, I was in such embarrassment I couldn't even look at her.

"Have you tried sparking an actual conversation with the boy? Not about fighting or training or food. Just an actual conversation."

"Of course! We always talk about things!"

"Good, have you told him about yourself?"

"Um…"

"Has he told you about himself?"

"…"

"Hm…it should be good that you both understand each other and where you came from. Learn the hood and the bass of each other." Tera softly said. "I'm sure you'll understand what I'm saying once you are older. I'm just telling you this now to prepare you."

"Prepare me for what?" I cautiously said.

Tera only smiled at that, that only made me more worried and confused.

"I'm going to teach you how to dress like a lady."

[Kota's Perspective]

"Make sure that wound there is healed! That man had a sword sliced through his back!" A middle aged man's voice blared into my ear.

"Okokok, don't yell in my ear!" I spat back, what the hell? I thought this would be a piece of cake, but I guess this teacher is taking this a little too serious.

"Input more mana into it! Come on, kota! I expected you to be someone who excelled in this!" The middle aged man was in fact Crota, the advisor for my entrance exams. Turns out he actually is one of the teachers for healing spells.

"Alright, relax?! Damn, the dude is dead already, right?" In healing spell classes, we worked on dead bodies rather than live ones. Most of these bodies ranged from young to old and from human to whatever other races they had packed somewhere. What I was working with was actually a prisoner who tried escaping from the prison here, I guess they're finding use of his body by letting us fuck with it…Gross.

I also noticed one thing while healing this…dead person. As much as I can fathom some of the logic in this world, I don't quite understand how healing even works? Perhaps it's just the increase in speed of how we usually heal wounds, but this…I can't even understand it.

Maybe that's why I'm struggling with healing right now, maybe I just don't understand it. Crota eyed me as I was seemingly struggling before smacking my head in frustration.

"Is there a problem, kota?" Crota asked coldly.

"Augh, oh yeah I have several now. Why'd you hit me and also, how does this healing magic work?"

I received another smack to the head from Crota as he got beside me.

"Do not question how it works, only understand its properties and usage. We didn't come here to figure out mana, we came here to find usage in it!" Crota snapped at me, he held his hands out and chanted.

"Let life breathe into itself, invigorate and warmly accept health, heal!" He chanted, a glow of yellow emanated from his hands as the body in front of us slowly healed. The wound I was working on had its skins slowly warping and enclosing in itself, healing.

Thinking back to when I healed my wound when we were coming to Prusha, I wonder how I healed that? I remember Tera explaining that my healing was in intermediate ranking, but how? If I'm having problems with healing right now, why didn't I before?

"Alright, the wound is sealed…"Crota then drew a scalpel from his pocket and sliced another hash on the body. "Now you try to heal that."

"A-are you…why?" I asked in utter confusion, what the hell was this dude thinking? You just healed him and immediately slashed another wound on him, what the hell is wrong with him.

"Why what? That I'm using a dead body for purposes of training new students? Use your head, the man is dead. If he were alive, this would be a different situation." Crota seemed to be confused at my response, was this something he'd normally do? Is this like normal in all healing classes? "Now, do the chant that I had done. That was the basic healing chant. Come on!"

Doubtful, I raised my hands and chanted the spell. "Let life breathe into itself, invigorate and warmly accept health, heal!" I thought it was absurd for this to work for me still. Healing doesn't make sense in this world!

But I was proven wrong, as the chant worked. The wound that was freshly made seemingly warped and enclosed as well, leaving a scar where it used to be.

"What the…augh! Hey!" I was interrupted by Crota who smacked me in the head.

"Do not question how it works. You should appreciate that you are capable of even doing it. You wouldn't understand the capabilities healing can do in cities or even in war. Nuisance!" Crota walked off to examine another student, I could hear him rambling at that student as well.

But…perhaps Crota was right. Maybe I'm looking too far in depth with how things work here. To be quite honest, I don't think healing really works with logic at all. When you think about it, all of the other basic elements seemingly work off of logic. Thinking of my dry ice spell that I made, it combined water and wind to make it. Both are scientifically needed to actually make dry ice. So it makes sense for it to be produced here. Maybe most of the logic of my world works here, but healing is just another thing I can't wrap my head around…

Wait, maybe I shouldn't wrap my head around it. The way my incantation less casting works is based on being familiar with the spell. I suppose the reasoning behind me being able to make dry ice was just due to my old life's previous experience on how it works.

I slapped my head in utter realization, I think I just cracked the code. As long as I'm able to remember the feeling or perhaps how it logically happens, I could quite literally make any spells work for me. Healing? Just need to remember that feeling and chant. Dry ice? Remember how it's scientifically done and apply that to the logic here.

"Holy shit!" I blurted out. Some of the students looked at me quizzically. Crota gave me a stern look and raised his hand.

"Boy…"he slowly said.

You know what? I'll accept this slap. I deserve it. It won't stop my understanding of magic from coming to realization!

But the slap never came, instead a door opened. Kale walked in, confused at first but once he saw me, he quickly ran towards me.

"Kota! I'm so glad to have found you!" He grasped my shoulder and shook me crazy.

Crota backed off and eyed kale. "Mister Goodman, a pleasure to see you…mind if I ask what you are doing here? And why you are handling one of my students?"

Kale fixed his hair as he looked at Crota. "I'm looking for Miss Sereal. Kota lives with me…you could say that I'm technically his guardian for his time here in Prusha."

A couple of students "Ooo"d at that remark, some turning their heads towards me. Some of the faces looking at me were out of interest while others were out of annoyance. It's making me remember some unpleasant memories from my old life's time in school…

"Kota? Hmm…Tera didn't mention this in her referral for him. Well, I can't really intrude on the Great Goodman, can I?" Crota continued. Kale nodded as he was still holding onto me. "Hmph, very well. Consider yourself lucky on your first day, kota. This sort of Situation doesn't occur, the next time I won't allow it. Go on, Mister Goodman. Have Kota help you. And Kota, you are dismissed for this class today. Be Sure to attend your other though." Crota turned away and clapped his hands, the students looking at him now.

I looked back at Kale who sighed. Did he just come back from his job?

"Kale, are you looking for Lilith?" I asked.

"Of course! Can't leave her with Tera…do you know where they could be? I haven't actually…visited…Tera here…before…" Kale trailed his words awkwardly. He must've realized his mistake when he gave Lilith to Tera.

"Yeah, I know where they are." I answered.

"Oh great! Oh, sorry for interrupting your class. You don't know how many classes I ran into looking for her."

"No problem, though it kind of sucks, this is all happening on my first day." I walked alongside Kale as we headed out of the classroom.

Tera's class was on the second floor, all the way down to the left being the last classroom. Kale had managed to only look through half of the Right side of the second floor before finding me.

"So how is your first day going?" He was adjusting his cloak when he asked that.

"I wouldn't say much…it's just been alright, I guess. I have Tera as my homeroom."

"Figured. Well when I trained in the halls of swordsmanship, it was pretty dull at first but once the training really began I started to love it."

"Hall of swordsmanship? Is that where you learned Fire king style?"

"Yeah, before I trained your dad. It's below Ithryll in a place called lando. That's where I became King ranked in Fire king style."

"Huh."

After our little conversation, we finally got to Tera's classroom. I was going to knock on the door when I suddenly heard a crashing noise inside and some giggles.

Kale walked up behind me, looking confused. "What's the problem?" He also leaned in to open the door, but stopped when we both heard more crashing and giggles.

What the hell was going on?

Kale looked more bewildered and gulped as he slowly reached for the door again.

"Tera? Are you in there with Lilith?" There was dead silence for a moment before we heard someone inside panicking and whispering.

Kale seemed to have gotten irritated, maybe thinking it was Tera playing a joke on him and he swiftly opened the door, confidently rushing in.

"Alright, stop messing arou-Hm?" He started to shout but then immediately stopped dead in his tracks. As I walked in, I was baffled from what I saw.

Tera was holding Lilith, who was part way in dressing up in a blue dress. Bundles of clothes were arranged on some of the desks. Lilith's hair also seemed changed as well. Instead of the usual silver hair she had, it was also nicely accompanied by pink highlights on the ends of her hair. When did they have time to change her hair? Once Lilith saw me, she immediately struggled and turned a hot pink as she desperately tried to fit on the blue dress.

"…didn't think you two would rudely enter a room when the ladies don't answer…" Tera awkwardly said, she gave Kale a glare as well.

"I-uh…was looking for Lilith…and I thought you were messing with me when I knocked on the door?" Kale confusingly said, he was staring at Tera as she too was dressed in a different way.

Tera was wearing a red robe and a red hat, but the robes were…very sexualized. It showed much skin on her arms and legs, her chest looking like it was about to burst. She stood next to Lilith who had finished dressing up.

I kept giving Lilith a look, the way the pink highlights looked on her hair looked nice. So did the blue dress. Wait, did she also do make up?

"Well, kota? What do you think about the new Lilith?" Tera smiled as she grabbed Lilith again, twirling the girl around. "Enjoying it?"

"Yeah! Look at that hair! I like it!" I moved forward, out of the way of Kale who was still confused.

Tera clapped her hands and pushed Lilith forward as well, Whispering something in her ear. That made Lilith turn a brighter shade of red as she got close to me. Her legs were wobbling as we stood face to face.

"D-do I look nice?" She cutely said. Why the hell is she pouting like this, you are killing me!

"I-uh you know- yeah, yeah you look great!" I could feel my own cheeks start reddening as I suddenly realized how entranced I was with her looks. "Lilith, your hair looks amazing!"

She gave me a wider smile before looking down out of embarrassment, I could see Tera smiling along with Kale's chuckles.

"T-Thank you! I hope you appreciated it!" Lilith looked up and stared at me when she said. Her amber eyes glittering, I swear I could see eye shadow under them. What the hell, Tera?! You made this girl even more adorable!

I couldn't respond as I found myself struggling to even make a sentence, it was then that Kale coughed and walked behind me.

"You do all this, Tera?" He asked.

Tera shrugged as she started to pack the clothes on the desk. "Perhaps, I mean…I only did pick out the clothes and give her some tips…the rest…" she glanced at Lilith and me. "It's all her."

"And you picked out those clothes you're wearing?" Kale tilted his head as he looked more closely at her dress. "hey…Isn't that the one from the shop we we-"

Tera raised her hand which made Kale stop mid sentence. "Yes, no need to…talk about that…" Tera finished packing the clothes and looked at kale. "You can go ahead and take Lilith now, Kota First day shouldn't be spending all day talking, but learning."

Kale scratched his head as he turned to me now. "Well, I guess she's right. Sorry for messing up your first day. Come on, Lilith!" He looked at her which snapped her out of her trance.

"R-Right!" Lilith walked to one of the desks and put on her cloak, turning around and waving confidently at me. "Have fun on your first day!" It seemed that whatever had transpired in this room has significantly boosted her morale and confidence in herself, the way she moved even conveyed it.

Soon, both Kale and Lilith were out of the classroom. Leaving me and Tera.

"The Girl is remarkable right, kota?" Tera asked.

"Yeah…very remarkable.."I slowly answered back.

Tera chuckled as I heard her head back to her desk. "Fufu, you'll need to keep an eye on her."

"What do you mean…What'd you tell her?" I waited for a response, But she gave me the silent treatment and waved me away. What did she mean!? Is Lilith going to be like that forever now? With her new hair style (Not that i minded.).

Then I heard the doors of the class rooms open, That must mean that classes are over. Which meant I needed to head to my classes now. Shaking my head, I turned around and headed out of tera's room for my next class.

I'll need to keep an eye on Lilith, I suppose. I wonder how long I'll need to do that?
