Draco looked at his new abilities and was astonished. The Title's passive abilities plus all the abilities he was getting he was almost positive he was on par if not stronger than the average E-rank striker. Sophos, seeing that he had read them all, started to talk again. "Now seeing as you have checked them all out we are first going to talk about the evaluation and what it means."
Draco nodded, listening intently to his words. "First of all, monsters have the same ranking system as humans do. The only difference is we go by levels as you've seen. The ranks are broken into a curtain amount of levels as you figured out. When a creature rises a level, one of their stats increases, that selected stats chosen to receive that point will depend on its DNA."
"So I'm the only one that can pick which stats I want to add points to?" "As far as I'm aware, yes." Draco took a second to think about this before telling Sophos to continue. "Now just because they can't pick the stat that it gets added to doesn't mean they don't have control over their level ups. You see when a monster gets to the level which divides the ranks their body will start to go through a process of evaluation.
"This is one of the most dangerous times for a monster, as their body is weakened and they fall unconscious. In that time frame, any damage done to the monster will heavily affect it down the road, in some cases completely crippling it. That's why monsters will go to their Domain and hide while they evolve. And will more likely than not already have a plan for when they rank up." "So why are we different? Our Titles change, meaning our name changes, we instantly get stronger and we can get new abilities?"
"Well, humans are different. You ever notice how it takes multiple humans to defeat one monster of the same rank?" Zero nodded "Yeah." "Well, that's because of essence. Essence is what you level up with. Think of Titles like containers for essence. When you get an F-rank Title what happens is your true name has absorbed enough essence in the surrounding world to create the required channels for essence to be stored. However it's also a Door. blocking any extra essence from being absorbed into your body, which would blow humans sky-high.
"This in turn sets humans at a level and keeps them there, with no way to level up. However monsters have no Title seeing as their whole body is the container, that's why Spinewebs form. The essence that sits inside of their body's circulates, then after it's done circulating it ends up inside the Spineweb." Draco was amazed. "So the Spineweb is just a container for what's accentually just the equivalent of carbon dioxide for essence?"
"That's accurate. Now onto evaluation. Because monsters body's are the container and in turn have no door they continuously absorb essence. Aka leveling up. When the essence reaches a threshold, or fills the monster's container it will infuse into the body. Expanding the container while also strengthening it. Ranking their body and their container up in the process." Draco understood what Sophos was saying but was confused by something.
"So if humans have essence doors, then why am I able to level up?" it went silent for a couple seconds before Sophos talked again. "That's because when you received your true name...it changed your body into that of a creature." Draco was stunned into silence. "I'm a monster?" Draco said it out loud but the two could tell he was saying it to himself rather than them. "That's impossible, I was born on earth."
Sophos talked after giving Draco a minute to process. "Monster is a term you use, we use the term creature. And all being a creature really means is, you can absorb essence into your body. However you also got a Title. That even I am not sure about. my best guess is, the essence being brought into your body saw in your DNA that you should have gotten a Title, or door. So it gave you the appearance of one without its limitations. This also means you're going to be stronger than others in your Rank."
Draco shook off his fear and any other emotions he was feeling. "Nothing I can do about it. Right?" "That's right" Draco spoke up again. "You said we were starting with this, meaning there's other things?" "Yes well when you awake, assuming the evaluation went well, and no one did any damage to your body. You will have unlocked a part of our abilities, our powers if you will." Draco was confused. "Haven't I received all your abilities?" the two laughed at him before the dragon talked.
"Please you haven't even scratched the surface of what our powers were when we were al-" Sophos cut in before Thanatos could finish the sentence. "What he is saying is it will be a while before you get to our Title's true power. And even then, as a creature you will never truly stop getting stronger. There is a reason stronger creatures are called Calamity's." this completely opened Draco's mind. He had thought this was all, and to be honest he was perfectly okay with how it was right now. And to learn he wasn't even at the tip of the iceberg. However something gave him pause, before he shivered.
'If he was able to get this strong, how strong can an old creature become?' "also just know that the first evaluation takes the longest, but its also the least painful." This left an uneasy feeling in his gut but he pushed it down as he couldn't do anything about it as he was bound to become stronger. "Anything else you wanna tell me about?" "besides changing your Title when you leave. Nothing else has happened. However I suggest you either find or make a place that your body can stay and can be safe while you evolve. Because you got extremely lucky to get a name packed from Findor, that won't happen again."
Draco put that on a mental to do list. "Is there a way for me to communicate with you three outside this area?" Sophos didn't answer for a couple seconds before he spoke. "The only way I could think would be to either continue doing it where you ask a question and we will mist on your hand and move our head, however if you find an ability to read minds, hypothetically you could read your own mind, in turn hearing us."
Draco thought about it for a little bit, agreeing that for right now that would have to work. Suddenly Draco started to go transparent. "Uh what's going on?" "You're waking from your evaluation, get ready. Your body is going to feel different, however that's normal." suddenly Thanatos chimed in "and don't forget to-'' before Draco could hear the end of his sentence his eyes flew open.
