In her early years life showed to be very promising, full of life. She had a creative soul and was successful with anything she ever tried without much effort. Her character was quite honest and always looked for the positive things in life.
It may seem heaven sent to have such natural abilities but with the effortless success it proved to evolve into an expectation with her father. She adored her parents and always took their words with much weight. Watching her siblings get different treatment than her when it come to school was understood. Her eldest sibling, sister Grace had been held back for a year and seem to have trouble, the same for her younger brother Alex. She however had no trouble in fact she was quickly moved to more advanced classes and without her knowledge asked to skip a grade three separate times through her school career. Yet her mother would not approve such a thing for she wanted to spare Grace from feeling humiliated for having a younger sister ahead of her. Even if it meant holding Danielle's potential back.
Over time the difference in their treatment became more pronounced for if Danielle were to bring home a B rather than an A she was scolded by her father and told she could do better. If Grace or Alex brought home C's they were celebrated as if it were an A. Although this was confusing to her she understood it yet still it made her feel .... Inadequate in a way.
The only outlet she found for herself was threw her artwork. But soon even her release became an expectation from her father. He would turn a jealous eye towards her at times when he realized how well she was at it. Although she were his daughter he felt compelled to compete with her rather than encourage her. Having her sit and draw with him the same scene just so he could expose all of the flaws in her work telling her where she needed improvement and explaining how his were more desirable. Alas her sweet escape would crumble slowly around her.
Danielle felt as though his intent was to make her think less of her abilities. Even so she decided that she would never let it show it bothered her….. that anything bothered her so she thought of creating something similar to a reset button in her mind and anytime she felt hurt she would imagine hitting this button and the feeling and memory would just vanish. The process would take a few months to grasp till she no longer needed to think of the button her mind would do it on its own and she would go back to the happy free spirit she was or so she thought.
All she ever truly wanted in life was to please and gain praise for what accomplishments she'd reach the things she did were not for her sake but for the sake of her parents after all. She didn't want to be a burden to anyone so she would observe her siblings watching their moves seeing what would get them in trouble and taking note not to repeating the same action.
When high school come around she had built a wall within dedicating herself to being this made up sense of perfection. She would cause no hardship and be a phenomenal listener and advice counselor. If only she were to lend an ear to her own advice an counseling she might of been easily saved.
