Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: Blue Ode

The seventh day arrived comparatively quickly to the two, the gears of time imperceptibly churning along. Only Amitha was aware of the exact day, as she could tell by the growth of the glowing moss along the rocks both above and below her. She had to take them off regularly, as they spread quite quickly, and would load the cavern with too much light if they were allowed to germinate freely.

"Stop yer swinging kid. It's lesson time!" The loud roar escaped her lips rather quickly as she sped to his position, squatting down so her gaze could firmly meet his. At eye level, just to make sre he was paying attention to what she was about to say.

Bie obediently dropped the stone staff he was wielding and gave her his version of a respectful look. Which was to say, a slight smile and a discerning glimmer lighting his topaz globes aglow with yellow light. He straightened out the creases on his tattered sleeves, the result of them constantly being battered by stone chunks and fragments from his constant efforts.

Amitha left only two fingers upright on her hand, the middle and the index bound tightly together while her antennae and fingertips glowed a dingy and mottled yellow. Holding the fingers up to his head, she pushed back his bangs and placed his fingers on the dijon yellow strands hidden behind the black curtains of hair.

His hair glowed similarly as he felt a refreshing tugging sensation on his normally still heart. His blackened blood rushed along his veins in excitement as a burbling gasp of energy hit his brain, while his eyes glowed even brighter. A faint imprint of a white cross appeared in his eyes, replacing his pupils, while the red thread crisscrossed into little x's across the wrist of his right hand similarly lit up, a scarlet haze slowly spreading from it.

The sensation lasted for only a minute, but the feelings still lingered in Bie's body as she pulled her hand away. His eyes gleamed with curiosity, but she simply held her finger to her lips once she recognized the inquisitive demeanor he was adopting.

Time slowly ticked as that feeling soon went away, with a breath of relief by the tall blue woman accompanying it. Smoothing the light teal locks of hair back, she happily stroked Bie's hair before speaking.

"I was granting you a wee gift from me to yer body. Think of it as a consolation from the boredom this dingy little cave brings. Yer gonna get used to that sensation soon enough, so I'll leave it for the Church to explain, kay?"

"Aaaanyways. The seven days r' up, and the verdict's in. You can't wield any weapon, as far as I can see. They're just gonna break, so ya really have no talent for it. However..."

She then outstretched her hand and a carob brown duffel bag appeared in it. IT seemed to be quite shoddily made, with different shades of brown patches along any piece of fabric that seemed as if it once pronounced a hole or tear in the fabric. The bag had a couple openings along the top and sides of the bag, and as she pulled down one of the zippers, she revealed a hard metallic substance coating the insides of the bag. She foisted it towards Bie, a sheepish grin mixed with an embarrassed expression on her visage while she somewhat confidently said-

"I made it fer ya. It can carry weapons, since ya can't be trusted to bring them along yerself. And ya can't access yer Inner World yet anyways, so I figured this would come in handy...?" She watched Bie's face become increasingly puzzled at her words. Why would he have weapons if he didn't even have any talent in them to begin with? And what was an Inner World, anyways? Amitha shook her head, before asserting more powerfully.

"Weapon Breaker. That'll fit ya, don't ya think? Since you can't use weapons, smash them all up with the ones ya do have! You can even collect yer enemy's weapons and use em to train, or maybe even smash em right in their face! It sounds nice, don't it?"

Bie was touched, easy to see by the pleased smile that seemed to spread beauty into his immediate surroundings. He nodded and brough his curled little fist right in front of him, expectantly. A resolution exuded from his tightened gaze, which Amitha couldn't help but notice.

Two fists collided, deftly bumping up against each other and interlocking into a sort of handshake. With identical wide grins and dagger like teeth, the two blue Gems of the Dead has made an ode. They spat out the same words simultaneously, with either curling strands of hair or waving antennae similarly wiggling.

"If you can't join them, beat them into a pulp!" Today was a birth of a term that would be known across the universe one day. It was the creation of the Blue Ode.

--

"Alright, since ya can't always be counted on to have a weapon, we're going to go over two things today! First is a quick peek into what an Ideal is, and the next is how to throw a punch!"

Bie was sat in a seiza position as previously instructed by Amitha, his hands tapping his knees in anticipation as he waited for the lesson. Although the words 'What's an Ideal' was crawling from his throat to his mouth and struggling to escape, he held back his question and waited for the explanation.

Amitha didn't disappoint. Carrying on with her instruction, she rattled off a short description as if she was skimming over a grocery list. "We can divide abilities into five distinct sectors. Bridge, Ideal, Innate, Acquired, and the last, Unknown. Don't worry about anything but Bridge and Ideal at this point, kay?"

Bie nodded as Amitha took a short pause, waiting for the corresponding affirmation before she continued. "Ideal is an ability unique to yer very existence, bound to yer soul, and takes little to no energy to utilize in most cases. It can do a wide range of things dependin' on what it's role seemes to be, and they can grow even stronger! I can't give ya the best explanation on how, so yer just gonna have to trust me on this."

"Bridge is something like a collision between yer body and the world, or maybe worlds? I dunno. What I do know is that acquiring a Bridge improves yer body, most specifically the body part that serves as the focal point for it. Ya get a Bridge by using the power of Glimpses, which either inject ya with a memory of something else or draw out dormant possibilities or some sh*t, I couldn't be assed to listen in the monastery to be honest."

"So! Bridge, gained. Ideal, always there. Got it?"

Although Bie inwardly laughed as there seemed to be smoke billowing out of Amitha's head as she gave her best try at an explanation, he still nodded along with what she said while thinking on it a bit deeper. "Affirmative, miss Amitha!"

"Oi oi, quit yer playin'. I spent a lot of brain power spitting those words out ya know! Yeah? Yeah?" She looked indignant as her chest heaved and her arms sporadically flailed out into the open air, the figurative smoke still emitting from her head.

"Yep. Mhm! Can you tell me if this is my Ideal then?" He raised up his rightmost hand, pointing at the red thread that bound his wrist tightly to what would otherwise be a stump.
