Chapter 16 - Living Together

As soon as the bodyguard finished speaking, a silence befell the room. Jiang Jinshang rubbed his fingers. His eyes were blurry and unclear.

Tang Wan was extremely confused by the sudden news.

The bodyguard stood there with an unfazed expression. It was obvious that they were merely following orders and had nothing to do with the arrangement.

"Fifth Master, please excuse me, I need to use the bathroom." Tang Wan took her bag and phone and immediately walked out of the room. She found a quiet corner and immediately called her grandfather.

She knew that her grandfather liked Jiang Jinshang very much, but she did not expect that he would take the initiative to invite him back home.

At this time, Old Master Tang had just finished lunch and was leaning back on the rattan chair drinking tea. The television was still playing opera. His eyes were half-closed and his fingers were knocking in tune with the beat. He gently knocked on his knees and shook his head. He looked very happy.

His phone rang. He put on his reading glasses and looked at the caller ID. "Hello, Wan Wan."

"Grandpa, why is Fifth Master Jiang moving to our place?" Tang Wan didn't think they meant the house in the city, it must be the estate by the suburbs.

"What? Didn't I tell you?" The old man pretended to be dumb.

"When?"

"I'm old and my brain isn't working well. I was cheated when I bought a health product. Now, my memory isn't good either. I thought I told you."

Tang Wan's mouth twitched. He was so old, yet he behaved like a child, holding a grudge.

"You said Jinshang came to Pingjiang for you. Now he's sick and has no one to rely on. He's staying in a hotel alone. If something happens, who will take care of him? In our house, there are plenty of us here. We have someone to take care of him.

"His luggage has been sent over. I've also asked someone to tidy up his room. He'll be staying in your courtyard."

Tang Wan was stunned. "What did you say? He'll be staying in my courtyard?"

The Tang family's estate had three courtyards. Tang Wan had her own and she never had anyone else living in it.

Even a fool could tell what the old man was thinking.

"Your courtyard is the largest and it's quiet.

"I'm getting old. If Jinshang suffers any attacks at night, I might not be able to hear him. Even if I could, with my old arms and legs, it would be difficult for me to get him a glass of water."

Tang Wan's head hurt a little. In fact, the old man had a major illness when the seasons changed at the end of winter and the beginning of spring. In the past, he was very healthy, and he was much agile than she was. He could do most things save for the extremely taxing.

Previously, in order to leave the hospital early, every time the doctor checked on him, he said that his legs did not hurt and his eyes were not blurry. He had almost jumped out of the hospital bed and performed a set of tai chi for the Doctor. Now, he was panicking for his health instead.

Seeing that she did not speak for a long time, the old man took a sip of hot tea and continued.

"If you have any objections, just say it. If you don't want him to live in our house, I can always break my promise and ask him to leave.

"If anything happens, the Jiang family will only blame me for not taking good care of him. You'll be fine.

"Anyway, I'm already old. I don't care what others say about me. I don't mind being the bad guy here."

Tang Wan sneered. She'd rather her grandfather keep his mouth shut.

He clearly had an agreement with the Jiang family. Now if he wanted Jiang Jinshang to leave, everyone else would think that it was her intention. What did he say about being the bad guy again?

A swindler at heart.

Why didn't she realize that her grandfather was such a drama queen in the past? The world owed him an Oscars.

"Wan Wan, why aren't you speaking?" The old man's tone was relaxed and cheerful.

"What else can I say?"

"If you don't have any objections, then it's settled. When you come home later, remember to bring Jinshang along. Get me some cakes too, I'm craving them."

While Tang Wan was on the phone, Jiang Jinshang also called home. The person who answered the phone was his brother.

"I can't get through to Mom. Is she not home?"

The brother glanced at his mother, who was sitting at the side playing with his son. He didn't say anything.

"What's going on? Did you move my luggage to the Tang Family?" The things had been sent over. It wouldn't be appropriate for him to have them moved out again.

"Brother, you don't know anything, do you?"

He said in a low voice, "It was my orders."

"Huh?"

"I ordered your luggage to be moved and your room to be checked out. If you have any objections, let me know."

His tone was like a emotionless machine.

Jiang Jinshang raised an eyebrow. "Did our mother put a knife to your neck?"

They were brothers. After living together for so many years, he was very clear about his brother's temperament. Only his mother would do such a thing.

If his brother wanted to do such a thing, he would be even more ruthless!

He might even take advantage of his illness to send him packing immediately and not give him a chance to call.

"She didn't force me. She just wanted to introduce a few girls to me." He unceremoniously betrayed his mother. "If you don't want to stay, I can..."

At this moment, Tang Wan happened to push the door open and enter. Before he could finish speaking, the phone was cut off by Jiang Jinshang.

"Fifth Master, that..." Tang Wan didn't know how to speak for a moment. "You... want to go home with me?"

Jiang Jinshang's actions were obviously uninformed. If she asked without filter, it might be a little awkward if she was rejected.

The bodyguards hung their heads against the wall and stood in a row. Judging from the master's tone on the phone just now, it couldn't be that he would embarrass Ms. Tang, right.

He held his voice and said gently, "Let's go, I'm at your care now, Ms. Tang."

"You're too kind."

Tang Wan took a deep breath. How could she have known that this...

Would haunt her for a lifetime.
