The uninvited guest killed the mood. Liang Yan got up, her brows creased. "How did you get here?"
"That's not important. What I don't get is how you little hussy managed to trick Huo Qingning into protecting this welfare home at the expense of using his family network!"
If the acquisition had gone through, the estimated profit would have been at least 10 million, Liang Youli thought. But everything slipped away like sand through her fingers because Huo Qingning stepped in, not even batting an eye when he had to pay one billion damages for the breach of contract.
Sure, Liang Yan earned her credit for holding Huo Qingning spellbound. Yet, why did things always have to be so unfair? She always got the short end of the stick when Liang Yan was nowhere better than her.
"If you could please take the kids inside, mother. I need to handle this." Liang Yan knew her personal grudge shouldn't have anything to do with the kids, and witnessing it would only leave them traumatized.
The dean gave her a worried glance. "Give me a shout if you need anything. Don't let her push you around."
"Don't worry." Liang Yan flashed a sweet grin, knowing the dean would always have her back. Just as the dean and the children went through the door, her expression turned glum. Her tone was annoyed, "Since you're not over this, let me straighten up the facts. The reason why I got married in the first place was that Huo Qingning proposed. I never forced him into this, so where's the trick? Sure, you couldn't make him marry you. But it doesn't mean he can't belong to somebody else."
Liang Youli glared at her sister, whom she'd had hatred for since they were little. If only Liang Yan had never existed. The Liang family wouldn't ever be humiliated, and she'd sure get her hands on the arranged marriage with the Huo family.
It was all because of Liang Yan, the secret love child, that she lost what was supposedly hers. And now, Liang Yan was taunting her by rubbing salt in her wound.
"You b*tch!" Rage overtook Liang Youli. Her body trembled, and she raised her hand.
"How dare you touch her?" A new voice appeared, a voice full of anger. Huo Qingning stood behind them, and his eyes fixed on Liang Youli, menacing. If death glares were real, she would've died over and over again at that moment.
"Qingning." Liang Youli's hostility vanished, and she prayed so hard for him to change his mind. "We were childhood sweethearts." Crocodile tears welled up in her eyes. "How did you even fall in love with her when you've only met her a few times? She must've cast a spell. Trust me. She's no angel!"
Alas, it didn't work. Huo Qingning took a protective stance in front of Liang Yan. "Get lost. Don't make me repeat it twice."
Liang Youli's eyes went dull with disappointment. Witnessing how the man in front of her was so protective over her sister, she knew she'd lost. She turned herself as a puppet would, but his voice stopped her. "Wait."
Hope. She turned to meet the tall, dazzling man's gaze. Yet, what came out of his lips in the next second were even harsher words.
"We're married. So the next time someone's picking on Mrs. Huo, know that Huo Corp. isn't one to let such behavior slide." Huo Qingning would go all the way to protect the one, along with the entire Huo Corp. No one would walk all over her as they pleased.
Liang Youli scoffed. So they were married, indeed. She balled her fists, nails digging into her skin, thinking how she hated her. She hated Liang Yan, and she'd never let that b*tch off!
