Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

The old house, with its wildly overgrown garden, was silent, secretive, and dusty. They say everyone who looks into their family history will find a secret sooner or later? But how could anyone be sure? He was apart of the family, yet nothing had ever been revealed to him. None whats so ever. The only thing he knew, was his king was a nice, gental, caring person. The demon Nation was lucky to have him. Not like Nation Valley who had king Clark and queen Jewel, the two royal family members that founded Nation Valley. Later crowning themselves as rulers, because they were deemed the most powerful? What a joke.... Later the two would give birth to three children. A little girl, followed by two young boys. The oldest of the two boys however, had a fate shared to all his own. And only his own. The oldest, wasn't like the rest. He was far from anything like them. Deemed to take over the crown when the king passed away, although it was clear the king wouldn't approve of that, that he would never allow someone to take his crown from him. Even if that person mean't well, considering he was his oldest son.

Instead of lose his crown, he selfishly sent his oldest son to death. Or so, everyone believed that was what happened. Although no one ever tried to talk about it, at least not during daylight. If they even tried, the prisoners would be come their new homes. It was odd how no one ever decided to take time away, to go searching for the old aire, although no one was sure they'd ever find him. no one ever bothered. Later the remaining daughter and son, lost all knowledge about their oldest brother. Wiped from there memories, the empty, thin, blanket, being twisted, and run out with the memory of water, that held their brothers memory.

He'd been lost to them. Lost to everyone. Even to those who still cared about him. His mother, Jewel, constantly afraid for her life, for the consequences given to her from her own selfish husband, were buried down on her each and every day. Although, how dare she allow her first child, to be objected to suffering and torture. Simply for a crown he never deemed he even wanted. The cruelness.

The dawn spread and allowed the stormy clouds to roll in, one fateful fall, the shinning unholy light fell deep onto a distant, old, looking building. A temple if you would call it that. A special place that forever held the oldest. Locked away deep inside the brick walls of his prison, his screams were long lasting.... Only to be silenced years later. The weeping and cries suddenly came to a halt, as the stories of the ''Vengeful spirt'' caused Nation Valley to cut off all ties with the rest of the nations. A story that had gone down as fictional history. No one even knew the story had once been true. And the truth would die, six years later.

The temple no longer held the physical body of the oldest. No, that was to far to hope he'd remain alive through so many traumatic years. All that seemed to remain was the spiritual form. The spiritual form only brightened and increased because of the anger he'd been forced to let into his head, and heart, from the father who'd betrayed him. A vengeful spirt that knew nothing anymore, except the blood from once he'd been created.

***

Barron stood puzzled with the ancient thought, as corasing, warm, spread of black liquid rolled from a fresh bite wound forming on his arm. He brought his front teeth away from his skin, as he let the blood flow. Staring down at the source of his pain. As he did this, he was forced to go over every single bit of imagery he'd just seen. What had he seen? Some sort of vision? Some sort of movie playing inside his head? Some sort of distant memory he'd been forced to leave behind? Either way, as he looked up at his surroundings, he felt everyone's eyes on him, as he got to his feet. From his knees, he let his arms drop to his side in under a few seconds, as he took in a fresh breath of air.

He know completely understood his brothers wishes, his order was to have him start to bleed, in order to attract the hungry vampire over to him. And that's exactly what he seemed to have done. Catching the attention of Aaron, who seemed to stare right through his body, past all the smoke that began to form from all the rubble and chaos spread around him, he didn't even seem to flinch once he saw him. His eyes were angry and fill of anger.

''Barron!'' Shouted Ren. ''What're you doing? Cover that up!'' He ordered. Barron shook his head, as he closed his eyes, proceeding to disobey his brothers wishes. This was the one way he could save him for a change. They'd already been through to much, and each and every single time, it was Ren and Bright who had to save him, now, for once, it could be the other way around.

''I won't do that, Ren. I won't cover this up, cause I'm finally going to save you.'' He whispered as a gust of vengeful air came through him. Proceeding to brush past his cheeks, as he felt a tight grip grab onto his wounded, bleeding, arm. He gasped as the grip was much stronger than he though, which caused him to sink down to his knees, as he was pulled forwards. In seconds, in knew who was the one behind everything. Aaron, Aaron had gotten to him in seconds, so quickly in fact, he hadn't even see him there. As he gasped, and cried out in pain, as the scent of his own blood washed over him, he felt sharp fangs stab into him. His skin was ripped apart in minuets, and he could feel himself getting lightheaded.

''Barron! You idiot!'' Shouted a voice.

In seconds he could smell the raining smell of burnt clothing, followed by burnt flesh and hair, as his eyes softened and the dizzy wave vanished. The effect he'd been under had disappeared in only a few second it was hard to believe he'd ever truly made a sacrifice. He took his chance to get free once his eyes lit up with the vibrant colors of orange flames, as he pushed himself past Aaron. Who seemed to have been set on fire. Screaming and thrashing his body around, as to put out the flames that swallowed him.

''Edward, I had that! You didn't need to get involved.''

''Sure I did, you were going to die, if I hadn't. Be greatful.'' Hissed Edward, as the two manged to get over to where Ren was. Taking in the surroundings, and the reflection of shadows covering his face, Barron was sure he could make out what seemed to be a lot of blood. Much more than he currently had pouring from his arm.

''Your grounded when we get back home.'' He hissed, their eyes meeting as Barron just showed him a smile.

''Sure, brother.'' He replied.

''He can only burn for so long, I hope someone has a plan?!'' Groaned Bright as he got himself over to the three of them. Their eyes were glued to the sight of Aaron, burning, but for some reason Barron's eyes had something more interesting to stare at. And that something had been Edward. Who was curious, once he found out Barron was staring at him.

''What's the matter?'' He asked.

''I saw something.''

''You saw something? What was it? Something dangerous?'' Edward wondered.

''I'm not sure what to call it, a vision maybe? Something I shouldn't have seen? Either way, it had some information I think was mean't for you.''

''Me? Like what?'' Edward asked raising his eyebrow.

''How many siblings do you have again?''

''One, I just have my sister, Alice? How come the curiosity?''

''That has to do with the vision I saw, I don't know how to explain this to you, but just hear me out okay?'' Edward nodded as his eyes grew hazy and interested. All the focus was on him and no one else, Edward was sure whatever would come out of his mouth, he'd surely need to be worried, but although the worry he felt, he trusted barron, so he'd give him a chance to explain, before getting freaked out.

''I saw some sort of mystic building. It was unlike anything I'd ever seen, but most importantly I saw your father! And I saw someone else. A young man. He has your eyes, Edward. If I'd been able to get a few seconds longer with the image, I might be able to tell you more, my guess is, he's your sibling. A older brother...'' He whispered.

''I don't have anymore siblings, I only have Alice. Plus she's the oldest, as much as I wish I could be, I only tell people I am, because people see me as the more mature one. I'm telling you right now, Barron. Your mistakened. What you saw, can't be the truth. Your probably just saw things when you lost to much blood.'' Edward hissed, his eyes wondering back over to the gruesome sight of the smoking body of Aaron. He could tell he wasn't dead, which as he drew a breath, he stared down at his palms, curiously. Interested in the results of his now pretty much restored powers. Now the greater fact that the ice hadn't been returned to Aaron, he didn't need to feel so worried about getting sick anymore. Could that have been the reason he was able to set off a fireball, and not cough up blood like the last time?

Although, the consequences were surely deadly. Regaining his powers only makes Aaron so much stronger. Plus his borrowed Spark power, which he should've returned ages ago, Edward was sure he knew what had happened to the owner. Which as he thought about it more and more, his face softened, and grew dimmer in color, as he was deadly pale. He could see Barron's interested eyes in the corner of his view, and lightly rolled his bright orange ones, left then right, as he turned to Barron again.

''Your not finished with this theory, are you?'' He groaned.

''Edward, just listen!'' He barked clenching his hands into fists at his sides. The anger on his face increasing, as Edward chose to ignore him. He wasn't in the mood for anymore theories. Not after everything that had happened. And because of how much of everyone's blood stained the floors around him and the others, his stomach felt like it was twisting, and at any moment he was going to be sick. So as he likely pushed Barron aside, watching with conclusion as to not seem violent towards him, in risk that Ren and Bright would beat him up, as he left their sides. Barron turned around instantly, facing him with big bright eyes, as he manged to get in front of the tired warm one.

Edward who now had his path blocked, lightly stopped, as unable to continue forwards. He titled his head to one side, his eyes dull and tired, as Ren and Bright followed behind him. Stopping behind him, their eyes glued to the sight of his back. He groaned, then sighed a defeated breath.

''Barron. please...'' He whispered, clearly defeated. ''I've had enough for one day. Can't we just leave this till tomorrow?''

''No! If you'd only listen to me now, instead of avoiding me, I could save us a whole bunch of time.'' Barron hissed. ''Now just listen to my words, please!'' He barked.

''Fine.'' Groaned Edward. He found himself slightly slouching, his body bending forwards a little bit, as his spine cracked, and tingeled as he was unable to keep himself standing. Although seeing this, Barron didn't seem like he was going to stop talking, so Edward knew he wasn't going to get out of this, so he decided to hear as much as he could. Hopefully, hoping he'd pass out soon, so he'd be forced to not be able to listen any further.

''I'm telling you the honest truth, Edward! I believe you have a brother locked up somewhere, locked away, locked away somewhere dark, lonely, and very far away! I believe from what I witnessed, your father locked him away! Locked him away in some temple where no one would find him! And he'd never be able to break out of it! Your father was worried about being overthrown by him, so he decided to rid of him, instead of allow that to happen! Don't you understand what I'm trying to tell you?! My guess, he'd been the same age as you, when he was imprisoned.'' Barron hissed, barking angrily with so much anger on his face, he was practically spitting from his mouth.

''Barron, that's not possible. No one in my family ages, if what your saying is true, he must've gone through so much, for so long. If he's really still alive, he'd have to have been locked away for all this time...'' Edward whispered.

''Exactly! And he's probably still suffering! He needs you to help him, track down his whereabouts, and give him a reason to give up his evil! You need to help him! Reform him, he needs your help!''

''Reform him? I don't understand?'' Edward asked concerned, at the new bit of information. ''What's happened to him?''

''Well, I heard this ancient story on my home, Demon Nation. I guess its been a story that has been circling around for a while. I guess biting myself, and freeing some of my blood, allowed me to remember, but if I remember there's a story about the king having a first child, a child before you. A first son. He was supposed to take the throne from your father once he turned nineteen, the same age as you now. What I remember, your father wouldn't allow that to happen, so he took him, and locked his spirt away. Locked him far away, in some sort of temple that kept him from ever returning to you and your family. I'm guessing his body couldn't handle his imprisonment, and something happened to his physical body. Now, I hear he's nothing but a spirt. A spirt run and programmed with nothing but vengeance. I worry if you do free him, he'd have lost so much, he'll know only one thing. And that's the hatred he feels towards your father. I worry, he'll try to hurt so many innocents, but now that I'm telling you this, your not going to turn your back on him? Right?!'' He shouted.

''Barron? You need to understand something. Even if I had some how been able to see all the images you claim you did, and managed to believe everything you say, I'd never be able to look for him. Or even be able to make my father pay for what he's done. I told you before, I was banished here. I chose to be banished here, the minuet I thought I was to blame for Aaron's death, seeing as though he never died, like I thought. I still have no way to return home. Someone on the other side, in Nation Valley would have to open the portal from the castle cambers, and who's going to do that. From what that little girl said before we were captured, my father as chose to take my sisters side, even though she'd been tainted with murdering one of our own people. There's nothing I can do to interfere.'' Edward replied bowing his head, once he realized he was truly useless and lost.

''Besides, I promised to undo everything that happened to Aaron because of me, that has to come first. I owe Aaron something, and I still haven't completed what I came here to do. This has to come first, helping my friend.''

''How is setting him on fire, helping him!'' Barron shouted.

''Its not like I wanted to hurt him! If you hadn't gotten in the way, I would've have needed to use my powers on him! Besides, what would you have wanted me to do? Let him kill you? Let him turn you into a monster just like him? Cause that's what would've happened!''

''No! But there were other ways to deal with him, then harming him!'' Baron argued back.

''Don't give me that, Barron! You hated Aaron from the very beginning, from the very beginning when I told you why I'd come here. Even now, you can't even look at him! Your sickened by his image, aren't you?! And don't lie to me, brat!'' Edward hissed, the mighty of his anger only increasing behind the shadows that began flowing the flames through his veins.

''Watch your tone, dude.'' Ren hissed as he got himself in between Edward before he could turn to leave. Edward flashed him a look of displeasement, and likely groaned something under his breath. The anger flashing on and off behind his eyes, worried Barron as he felt the warmth of his oldest brother, as he came in front of the two. Separating them before Edward decided he was done, and tried to lash out at him. Ren was a protective brother, none of that had seemed to change from his time as a child.

''I'm simply choosing to tell you the truth, Edward. Maybe if you can free you brother, you could return home. He'd be able to lift your banishment. Wouldn't you want that?''

''Right now, there is nothing more I desire then to fix my mistake, and get Aaron back to normal. I won't give up on him, if I did, what kind of prince would I be? Certainly not a noble one, I'd be a common peasant, shellfish with only their needs in mind. I don't want to be considered selfish.'' He groaned, as he turned his eyes to the front. Aaron's body wasn't on fire anymore, but the scent of the flames certainly stuck with him. He was laying on his back, his body covered with ash and gar, as Edward approached.

''Do you need help carrying him?'' Ren offered.

''I got it, but thank you.'' He replied as he lifted his arms up and around Aaron's rotten body. He could feel as his chest rose and dropped meaning he was still alive. He escaped a breath of relive as he placed the body of his former friend over his shoulder. The burns around his wrist burned, and stung likely, as bits and pieces of ash from his skin fell and touched his wrist softly. Even the softest of touches still caused discomfort to those of his previous words. From the time, he spent locked away in the prison. From his own wishes, although. It'd been his own choice. Need to say his father wasn't going to argue against him, and allowed him to torture himself, with the device made for prisoners.

Although since his father had taken up banishing instead of holding prisoners, the devices seemed to lose all their worth, so none of that was ever considered, when the thought came to throw them away. Edward, surprised, found his touring device. As Edward kept his hand placed on Aaron's back, holding him as close to him as he could, in order to keep him from falling, he was surprised when he suddenly tasted blood. Following by the sharpness of light fangs. He gasped as his lower lip was grabbed, then pinched. His eyes filled with shock as he saw Aaron's head move slowly away from his face. Crimson red dripped from the opened wound along his lip, as all he could do was smirk. Even now, Aaron was still trying to fight against him. Even when he was clearly here, at that moment trying to save him. If he wanted too, he could've allowed the flames to swallow him. Researching vampires long ago, really seemed to come in handy. How else could he know flames roast and kill vampires.

''Are you okay, Edward?'' Asked Barron once he realized what had happened.

''I'm fine, he didn't get that close, its just a small little bite wound.'' He hissed, a displeased expression placing on his face, as his eyes looked to his shoulder, where he saw Aaron,s head now dangling. It would seem he'd passed out. Good for him. Thought Edward as the three worked their way out of the large facility room. Gathering around the hallways, carefully searching for others doors, leading to patients. Only a few were found and set free. The others, who'd been to heavily damaged from months of torture, had refused their offer. Which Edward felt disgust against, as he was sure to take in the full imprint of what the building had been responsible for. Running the lives of many other mythical creatures.

Ones that because of them, had been captured. Others, had been captured all on their own.

''Ren? Are you sure your up to walk so soon?'' Whispered Edward, his attention moving to the blue haired man. His pale face, and dark colored eyes glowing in the beat of darkness, from the light bulb that clearly needed replacing, as he stood underneath it from a narrow, far away, hallway.

''In a few minuets, I'll be good.'' He replied.

''A few minuets? What do you mean by that, brother?'' Wondered Bright, who stared at Ren with very soft tired eyes.

''I found these, in one of the labs I'd been taken too, during one of my tests. Think of them as a time travel resentment.''

''What does that mean? Honestly, I don't think you should be stabbing anything into your vein. It could be very dangerous.'' Bright warned, as he tried to reach for what seemed to be a small needle, filled to the top with some sort of bright green liquid. Ren was quick to fight against his grip, reaching and cuffing his hand around his brothers wrist, Bright groaned softly from the pain that came from his tight grip, and instantly made the connection. Before he could separate himself, the needle had already been stabbed deep into one of the veins along his arm.

He was freed instantly, as he gripped his own arm close to his chest. Looking at the spot where it'd gone in, and bringing his eyes up to stare into his brothers eyes.

''What is this going to do to me?!'' He hissed.

''Everything this place has done to us, will instantly disappear. It'll be like you just stepped into the building for the first time. You'll regain all your strength and your tattoos. And in theory, I'll be able to lose mine, and get my old appearance back. Dying my hair this awful shade of blue, was their first mistake!'' Ren barked, as he started playing around with a long piece of his loose hair.

In seconds, Ren's theory had been proved correct. In seconds, Bright looked instantly better. His face had regained all his lost color, and his hair and eyes were the same bright shades of color from before the tourred experiments. Even the scars along his arms from his tattoo removal surgery, had vanished, and just on the break of a single blinking eye, he already had two of his vibrant tattoos back. One was of the bright, blue, ocean, the other, a pumpkin surrounded by winter snow, and frozen leafs. Barron turned his eyes from the sight of the tattoos, as he looked over at Ren. Concerned, but he tried to hide it.

''We should wait to use the rest of those those on anyone else till we reach the safety of home.'' Barron suggested, as he guided the three of them towards what he hoped to be some sort of door leading out of the building. Ren nodded as he stared walking down the hallway. Leading to what seemed to be a exit, covered in white paint, that lead with a glowing red ''Exit'' sign on the top of it. The three boys stared at each other, unsure of themselves, before Ren was first to act. Slowing his pace, he touched his fingertips along the door, rubbing it, as it was cold to the touch. The door must've not been used for days. Seeming as though it wasn't warm like they expected. No one had gone through.....like at all. Which seemed odd considering the building was a place for experiments and to house the mythical creatures brought in for testing. It would seem no creature nor mortal had gone through those doors in weeks?

What could that of mean't?

Had something happened that caused the building to be shut down, then abandoned? Surely not, the doctor seemed eager and honestly to crazy in the head, to want to willingly abandoned his experimental research. Although, none of them could blame him. The doctor did seem to be acting with someone else's suggestions controlling his movements. Barron suddenly tasted some thing sweet then sore in the back of his throat, as he watched Edward, then Ren, and Bright walk through the sliding doors. As he followed after them, the cold rush of wind, followed by dryness, then a scent that matched that of death. rained, the brushed past him. Stabbing straight through his chest, as if a ghost had just slipped past, and joined the air of the outside. Barron had to admit to himself, something was extremely not right.
