Chapter 4 - Chapter IV: Culprits

Vania's heart raced as she jumped at the sudden sound of Elias's voice, and she spun around to see him standing beside her.

Her eyes widened in shock as she struggled to comprehend what was happening.

"What...what is this?" she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.

Elias's face was stoic as he calmly explained,

"This is the day I was cast out of my society. Here, you will see who and what caused the calamity."

Vania's stomach churned as Elias began playing the memory, that would reveal a shocking truth.

The humanoid being made of pure energy on the mantle was none other than Elias himself, and he was the leader of the thousands of beings surrounding her.

In the inner circle, Vania saw four other beings around him and quickly surmised that they were the gods that her people worshipped.

She was in awe at the sight of the beings her people worshipped; her eyes transfixed on her deities.

Suddenly A deafening voice echoed within the vast expanse of the constellation, demanding the presence of the Elders.

One by one, they announced themselves with unwavering pride, their voices echoing through the infinite space.

"PRESENT YOURSELVES!" Elias's thunderous voice boomed within the constellation.

"First Elder Ashar of the Light Realm at your summons Great Elder!"

"Second Elder Virion of the Void Realm!"

"Third Elder Arifin of the Thought Realm, Great Elder!"

"Fourth Elder Nhajan of the physical Realm at your summons!"

The barrier field shimmered with a radiant glow, signifying that the meeting had begun.

"Second Elder Virion of the Void! You have petitioned this gathering. State your reason." the Great Elder commanded.

With confidence brimming in his voice, Virion revealed his discovery.

"I have found a possible solution to protect our kind from the great drift." Virion said almost immediately with the utmost confidence.

The mere mention of such a solution sparked a flurry of conversation amongst the Entities present, from different factions, united in their desperation to survive.

The Conscionic Pool, the very source of all consciousness, was rapidly absorbing their kind, leaving their species on a path to extinction.

The proposition from Virion was too tempting to ignore. If there was a way to remain in the physical dimension with their sense of self fully intact, it would be salvation for their dying species and true immortality.

The Great Elder commanded silence, and Ashar of the Light Realm interjected with hope, questioning Virion's proposition.

"Virion! Do you have any idea what you are suggesting?" Ashar of the Light Realm said.

"Why of course Ashar. I am suggesting salvation for our dying race and true immortality." Virion said with a smirk.

Whispers of true immortality began to spread like wildfire amongst the council members and their retainers.

"But at what cost?" Arifin asked inquisitively.

Virion, with a smirk, began to reveal his research in the past centuries, and to Vania's surprise his revelation was unbelievable.

"In the past centuries, it has come to my attention that the humanoid mortals that call themselves 'humans' are showing signs of a heightened connection to the Conscionic Pool. And what is more shocking is that their soul essence is a bottomless pit." Virion said straight faced.

Laughter erupted amongst the thousands of Entities within the barrier field. The very concept of mortals possessing a higher connection to the pool was ridiculous in every sense.

For eons, they had reigned supreme as the masters of the Conscionic Pool, controlling the very fabric of existence. And yet, here was a mere mortal species, displaying signs of a connection that could potentially rival their own.

"Impossible! Even our kind has limits." Nhajan said.

The air crackled with anticipation as Virion spoke, his voice ringing out like thunder across the council chamber.

He stood tall, his form blazing with otherworldly energy as he spoke with fierce determination.

"It is not impossible, my brethren," he declared, his eyes blazing with an intense light.

"The humans are in the incubator stage of their evolution, and they are on the cusp of a great awakening. They are birthing a new race of higher beings, similar to ourselves, but still trapped within their mortal shells."

A hush fell over the assembly as they listened to his words, their eyes wide with wonder and awe.

They had never heard such bold claims before, and yet there was a power in Virion's voice that stirred something deep within them.

"But to break free of their mortal cocoon, they require an insurmountable amount of Conscionic energy." Virion said, his words ringing out like a clarion call.

Virion spoke with a solemn tone, his words heavy with significance.

"Their evolution is forcing the power of the Conscionic Pool to be harnessed in ways that we have never dared to dream. And as a consequence, we the old have been deemed expendable by the Pool to give birth to the new."

Elias, intrigued by Virion's proposal, asked,

"So, what is the solution you have come up with, Virion?"

Virion's conviction was unwavering as he responded,

"Currently, there is an estimate of over 70 trillion humans spread out through the galaxy, as they are the dominant race on their plane of existence. I propose we cull their population to 7 million, forcing critical mass and accelerating their awakening. The smaller their population, the less strain there is on the Conscionic Pool."

The council members were stunned into silence as Virion's words sank in. They exchanged glances, their minds racing as they tried to comprehend the enormity of what Virion was proposing.

For centuries, they had watched humans from afar, content to let them evolve at their own pace. But now, Virion was suggesting that they intervene, that they commit genocide of a lower life form in order to survive.

Elias, outraged by Virion's proposal, roared with anger,

"Have you gone insane, Virion? To speak of committing genocide so openly is treasonous. And not just that, but what of the pact? For eons, we have honored the pact that states our kind will refrain from interfering with the affairs of lower life forms!"

The other three elders remained speechless, unsure of what to do.

Virion calmly responded,

"As far as I see it, these humans are a parasite to our existence. And I am not advocating for genocide. All I am saying is that if we reduce their population to 7 million, we will guide the newly awakened humanity into their heightened connection to the Conscionic Pool. Teaching them the laws of its energy, allowing our future generations to never fear the pull of the pool because some upstart species discovering fire."
