(Lena's Prologue)
The dinning hall was piled and piled with so many amazing scents, and smells, my nose could barely keep on just one of them. I wanted them all, even though I was sure I couldn't, this was a feast after all, but the food hadn't just been made for me to enjoy, but everyone else in the castle. The king, and his wife, the queen, and her daughter, princess Cleo. who had her seat made up perfectly beside me. The soft, material, of the red chair covers, were laced over the back, which rubbed up against the thin material of the dress she'd given me to wear. A light blue dress with yellow flowers, accompanied with short sleeves,
I was pulled so many different directions, from all the good food, I'd barely had any time to thank Cleo for inviting me. Especially since everything that has happened, the rotting body, and the.....I suddenly stopped as a cold chill caught me by surprise, exasperating my mind from my body, though it only lasted a moment, and I knew it wasn't because my nerves were getting the best of me, but because of some thing. Something sharp, that gave off a odd power about them. I wouldn't have known his name, if the king hadn't introduced him to everyone. A guard, out of uniform, with wavy bright red hair, accompanied by two silver streaks running down the sides of his head, with those light green eyes, and the way he sparkled when the dinning hall lights shined on him, he could've been compared to a jewel. A fine emerald, seemed about right. ''Will Scarlet not be joining us, tonight?'' Cleo spoke through bites, full of fresh picked vegetables, and some pieces of meat stacked on top of one another, all cornered to one side of her silver, white, plate. ''I'm not sure,'' he began. ''I haven't seen him for a while.'' The king answered his daughter, just moments before he aimed a knife and fork, about to the do the same to his block of meats, as his daughter. I eyed my plate for a long moment, although even though the presence of the red haired boy, still lingered behind me, and I knew he was trusted by the royal family, seening as there weren't any trouble, he mean't no harm, something about him, didn't sit right with me. From across the table, I made eye contact with captain Kairin, a few times, hoping he was feeling closely, to the way I was. Though, he barely returned my gaze. He just stood there, frozen, like some old statue, with his hands pulled behind his back, where they remained, for a long while.
His stare was blank, and his eyes barely moved, they were still all the same. Although the shine I'd seen in them, during our first meeting, still stayed there, inside those pale blue eyes. Brightest, yet pale in color all at the same time. The black fluffiness of his styled hair, I swore I could smell it from across where I was seated. I knew I was distracting myself, and that I was being rude, to the others around me, but I couldn't help myself, I just couldn't, something was going on, how come I hadn't been told about the new guard? Why hadn't Cleo introduced me like she had with Kairin? Did I matter so little to her and her parents, I just didn't need to know these things?
Figures, I wasn't even supposed to be at the castle regardless of who my friend was? Humans don't belong in the kingdom of magic. I had no place in a home built only for the magically gifted, I was a lone teenage girl, who'd gotten herself messed up with a demon. Although I didn't know it, when I was told the truth, that didn't make me want to leave. It only made me want to stay, so much more than I already wanted too. But now, he'd hurt me, shattered my life into a million pieces. I mustn't go home, not now. Not when there's nothing for me to return too. Father, mother, they never loved me anyways.

Once the feast was over, and everyone had returned to what they'd previously been doing, I wandered around the castle for some time. I couldn't return to the room, the dead vampire corpse had been, even if the servants had been so kind to strip, re-wash, and make up the bed all for me. I appreciated everything they did, the time they'd taken just to help me become comfortable again, I just couldn't go back there. Not now. Not tonight, I decided. I managed to find a old sofa, that had a small blanket, and two pillows leaning against the end of it, and decided to just lay there, for a while. How was I supposed to know, I'd fall asleep there? Only then when I felt a new pair of arms, picking me up, did I decide to wake up. Though my eyes were firmly shut still, I made mental notes of everything that person had done. I'd be lying if I didn't think there were going to be some bad intentions, done to me. I mean, this was a regular perverts lucky day, to find some girl passed out, in the middle of a empty hallway! I was expecting this.
Though, what I thought would happen to me, didn't. Not in the way I was thinking, no, not at all. I was carried to a bed, but was left alone there. I felt the comfortable texture of the soft comforters, and mattress underneath me, a couple pillows stabbing and poking at my back, still I didn't open my eyes, not till I no longer felt someone's eyes on me, as shadows crossed along the walls, of the warm blooded room.
As minuets passed by, and my eyes began to burn from the discomfort of holding them closed, so tightly, I decided to give it a chance, and opened my eyes. I wanted to scream and shout at the top of my lungs, who was standing there, was someone I wasn't expecting to see. It was the boy from before. The bright red hair, and emerald eyes, he was facing the light brown wardrobe, sweeping past all the clothes inside, running his fingers past the different fabrics. The silver in his bright red hair, was so visible to be now, how could I look away. He was perfect, a strong body, and handsome features to match who he is, perfectly. Perfectly unique. It didn't look like he'd caught me, staring, I came to that conclusion when he continued messing around with things in that wardrobe, though a part of me, would never admit to anyone, I wanted him to turn around. To sweep me up and off of my feet for a second time.
'What're you doing?!'' spoke a familiar male voice, as the door to the warming room, opened, and a strong pair of boots, walked a long the carpet. ''Did you need something? Correction, did you need me?'' The air grew strangely calm now, as the strong powerful presence I'd felt at dinner, was somehow covered up by something that could mask it. Cover it, like a mask. ''Have you decided not to be upfront with me, huh,'' he demanded. ''I'd like to know something, why the hell did you come to dinner! You did something to me, didn't you?! Didn't you!'' he kept going. ''How many times, how many times, did I tell you, you weren't allowed to go off alone! How many times did I say it, damn it, Faerin!''
''What would mom say, to your disobeying me!'' A whisper soft movement in the night alerted her, and she held her breath, straining her eyes from the darkness of her own mind. Lena was unsure what was in the room with her now, the presence from before, had vanished entirely. Now, she wasn't sure if she was being protected, or if she was caught right in the middle of danger. A place she knew she wasn't supposed to be in.
Her mouth felt dry, what was left of her voice, came out as only a whisper. Able to muster up that much, her voice barely made it, through the full context of the room she was in. ''Kairin,'' she whispered. ''Is that you?'' she knew the voice sounded familiar to her, what she didn't know was the name of the boy from before, the one she'd seen moments before, going through what she'd learned, was the captain's things.
So this must be his room.
Her dark hair was pulled back severely from a narrow face. ''Lena, why are you here?'' replied Kairin. She calmed herself, once her mind processed he'd been the one to pull back her hair, from her face. She shifted from the spot she sat, on the bed, and turned to better look at him. Confusion on his face, matched hers to a tee. He raised the dark brow further, blue eyes twinkling. ''What's going on,'' she hissed. ''Where's the boy! The one with the red hair, and silver streaks? He was just here, don't try to lie to me!'' she remembered saying. And then he stepped forward, looking elegant in a dark tuxedo, that only seemed to surprise her, and bring nothing but more questions into her timely fragile mind.
"Eureka sees better in the dark than we can," he whispered. To her surprise, color began to invade his dark features. The room became brighter, wasting only a few seconds of time, which resulted in better sight for Lena. She was scared to move from where he sat, next to her, the warmth of his body, pressing against her chest, as she tired to fight the romantic tension she felt between the two of them. She wasn't sure what to make of everything, but just as she was about to demand more of him, his hand stopped her, and she closed her mouth without a second's questioning.
As a kid I was afraid of the dark and now that I'm all grown up, I don't much like being kept in the dark either.
''I know your wanting answers, but here's the problem, I cannot give them to you,'' ''At least, not right away. There's something we need to do first, something you and I, must accomplish together...'' He'd somehow changed into a sweater and dark jeans before her very eyes, a light blue color matching his eyes, lighting up the skin around his hand, as he stood from the bed, gazing her.
What he said next, made all her senses shut down all at once. ''I need you to love me, I need you to be there for me, and you can't fight against me, for only one night, I need you to fall in love with me...'' he whispered. ''Cleo cannot be trusted...'' A black box was dropped onto the bed in front of her, only looking for one single minuet, did her expression break apart, when she no longer saw him. Standing there.
Inside the box was the most beautiful gown she'd ever seen, a mysterious shade of dark blue sprinkled with silver sequins. Underneath the amazing outfit was something her mind was puzzled, once she saw it. Holding it in her cold, freezing, hand. A smaller box appeared, though the contents of the inside, were shown to her already, all she had to do was open her mind to the crazy idea. Without hesitation, she knew what was being asked of her. She knew what she had to do, when she read the word engraved on one side of the silver enchantment ring.
''Please''
