I flop down on my bed then sigh and look up at the ceiling that's covered with planets. I look at Saturn and close my eyes then slowly start to fall asleep, but I suddenly heard my dog barking. Now I know my parents are home. I sit up then get up and goes to my parents. Hugging both of them, my mom rubs my head then asks "Ready for school tomorrow?" I think for a moment then nod, "I guess" I said softly. My dad smiles at me, "I bet you'll make such great friends, Alex." My dad says, I look off to the side and nod "hopefully" I think to myself. My mom heads to the kitchen, "get washed up, dinner should be ready soon." She says while walking. I head to the bathroom and wash my hands. After I'm done, I look into the mirror then grabs my brush and try to brush my curls out. Didn't work so I head to my room and lay in bed, looking up at Neptune and slowly start to drift off to sleep.
I wake up a few minutes before my alarm goes off, I get up and rub my eyes. "Another day… Just at school though" I say to myself then get up and gets dressed in a blue shirt and black jeans then I grab my favorite hoodie and head to the kitchen, make myself toast. Once I finish eating my toast, I head to the bathroom and brush my teeth then brush my hair. I sigh, while looking at myself in the mirror. "Yeah.. no other Junior is gonna want to be friends with someone that's 13 and in the same grade as them" I mutter to myself.
"Alex!" My mom calls out. "I'm up mom" I say while I walk to her. "Oh… I didn't hear you get up. Don't forget your mask dear" She says while walking to the kitchen, "right… my mask" I mutter then head to my room. Covid is still affecting our world, so wearing masks to school is forever gonna be a thing sadly. I grab my mask and head to the door, putting my shoes on and trying to remember what I'm forgetting. "Don't forget your backpack sweetheart." My dad says, handing me my bag. "Thank you dad." I say while taking it from him then hugging him. "Try having a good day at school sweetie" He says hugging me. "I know it's been hard making friend, so please try your hardest, and if you're getting teased or bullied, tell us okay?" He adds before I could thank him, I nod and smiles at him. "Thank you dad" I say, "I love you dad" I add. "I love you too dear" He replies, smiles and kisses my head. "I love you mom!" I say a bit loudly so she can hear. "Love you too sweetie, see you after school!" She replies. I smile and hug my dad one last time, "See you when I get home" I say while walking out the door.
When I get to my school, I look at the building for a while and someone nudges me off to the side. "Move kid." The guy said while walking in. "That's one way to greet someone.." I mutter to myself. I walk into the building, taking deep breaths until I get to my class room and get my schedule.
"Alex?" My teacher calls out my name, I look at her and say, "here.." Everyone starts muttering and laughing, I look down at my desk. My teacher taps my shoulder "Do you wanna step out into the hall?" She says, I nod and get up then goes to the hallway and sit against the wall. "First day already going bad, what else could happen"

-Four months later-
"Alex?" My teacher calls out my name, I look at her and say, "here.." Everyone starts muttering and laughing, I look down at my desk. Four months into school, was horrible, I started getting teased and bullied. The bullying was small at first then aggressed. Came home a few times with bruises on my arm, neck and stomach. I hid it from my parents for months until one day.
I went to school with black jeans and black hoodie. A few minutes in school I get pinned against the wall by the neck. "I told you not to come back you 13 year old freak!" The guy said, everyone else laughs. My teacher came out and stopped everyone then told the guy to put me down. She talks to the guy and before she could talk to me I ran out and ran home.
When I got there I open the door and put everything down then ran to my room. My dad opened my room door. "Alex? You're home early" He states. I sit up and look at him, he notices that I've been crying. "Sweetie.. What happened?" He says sitting next to me then hugs me. I told him everything and showed him the bruises.
When my mom got home I stayed in my room while my dad tells her what happened, I sit at the door so I can hear them talk, holding Shadow close to me, crying.
"Mia, She can't go back to that school.." My dad says. "Sidney.. I will transfer her to a different school" My mom replies. "And what if it happens again?" My dad asks. "Then we'll home school her." My mom reassures him. I get up and lay on my bed, and lays Shadow on my chest. I slowly start to drift off to sleep.
A month after I fully get transferred to my new school. My dad walks me to school and to the office, then to my class. He kisses my head, "Have a good day at school, I'll come get you after school, and you can tell me all about it." My dad says, I smile at my dad "Thank you dad, see you when I get out." I reply then hug him before heading into my classroom.
I introduce myself to the class then took my seat. The girl next to me tapped my shoulder, I look at her. "Hi I'm Alice." She says with a smile. "I'm Alex." I reply with a smile. "Nice to meet you, Alex." She says. "Nice to meet you too, Alice." I say then look ahead at the teacher. "How old are you?" She asks. I sigh "I'm 13 years old, what about you?" I say with a question back. "I'm 16, You're quite young to be a Junior. But that doesn't matter to me. Wanna be friends?" She asks. I stay quiet for a moment then smile and nod, "Yeah, I would like that." I say
I sit with her during lunch and talked to her a lot, she was in almost all my classes but one. After our last class we talk more. "I bet someone like you had lots of friends at your old school, why come here?" She asks. I stop in my tracks and tear up a bit. She seemed to notice cause she hugs me and rubs my back. "It's okay if you don't want to talk about it, Alex." She says softly. I nod and wipe my tears away then take a deep breath. "You're my first ever friend actually, I mean besides my parents and my dog." I stop for a moment. "People at my old school bullied, that's why I was transferred here." I say while looking down, she hugs me again and this time I hug her back.
She walks with me until she saw her moms car, I hug her goodbye before she gets in. I walk all the way to my dad and hug him. "How was school sweetie?" He asks, hugging back. "Good for once" I say, then I smile. "I made a friend. Her name is Alice" I added. He smiles "That's good sweetie." He says. We start walking home and I tell him about my day at school.
Alice and I hanged out after school, everyday. My first ever friend, started to slowly turn into my best friend within months. Her and I are inseparable. We spend the night at each others house every weekend. My parents think it's good that I'm out a lot during the weekend, but find it weird cause they're not used to it yet.
One day Alice got distant with me so at the end of school I went up to her. "Hey, what has been going on with you lately?" I ask. "What do you mean?" She says with the most fakest smile ever. I sigh "Please tell me what's going on.." I say look down. She hugs me, "These guys have been bullying me on my way home…" She says. I look at her. "Who?" I ask. "Umm.. Jayden and Charlie." She answers. I instantly recognize those names as the two main boys that bullied me.
I helped out with those two guys cause I walked her home.
Jayden and Charlie were there, at the spot Alice said they would be at. "Well, well, well.. Look who it is." Charlie had said with a smirk on his face. I look up and down at him, obviously getting irritated by him. "The nerd and the freak are friends, who could ever think that would happen." Jayden laughs out. "Don't you have somewhere else to be." I say. "Like to yalls uncles, since yalls parents kicked yall out." I added. Jayden got quiet then goes up to me and pins me against the wall. "How about you shut your mouth, freak." He says quietly. "How about you let me go and I won't report you for harassment, hm?" I say. He nods and lets me go. "Lets go Charlie, we have better things to do." He says, "But-" "Charlie, lets go!" He says louder. Charlie nods and they start leaving. Alice comes over to me. "You okay, Alex?" She asks. I nod and smile, "They shouldn't be messing with you any time soon." I say then start walking with her to her house again.
We were given a project to write our 'experience with high school so far' in Language Arts. I decided to write my experience from my old high school, and I also wanted to explain more about it to everyone including Alice. So I wanted to write and say it at her house so she's the first one to hear it. It made her cry and hug me tight. I ended up spending the night that day and walking to school with her.
When it came to the day I presented it to the class, everyone was shocked, cause we all get along and are like family to each other in this class, so they couldn't imagine someone bullying me and it being the reason why I transferred here. My teacher gave me an A+ for being detailed and brave to share my experience.
When it becomes summer Alice and I are still great friends and still hanging out. We started hanging out with Jayden and Charlie for a start, after they apologized, we all got along. Alice started liking Charlie without realizing he was falling for her as well, Jayden and I started hanging out way more often, I slowly caught feelings for him, but never confessed my feelings for a while cause he was happy in his relationship.
His girlfriend made him stop hanging out with me for a long time, he came to my house one night and explained everything to me, telling me his girlfriend cheated on him and confessing his feelings by accident. Him and I were both shocked at first but we agreed to wait until he healed from the heartbreak but I stayed by and helped him find himself again.
