The sea had returned to it's previous calm, the currents settling into a slow drift as Zariah swam forwards,
The crowd of battle mers parted and thousands of eyes trailed her movement but Zariah paid them no heed, she only had eyes for a pair of golden orbs.
Although weakened by blood loss, King Askel had remained conscious throughout the battle and even now he stared back at Zariah as she swam towards him.
His gaze trailed down the length of her tail before they returned to settle on her eyes,
"You return to me even more of mystery than you left my side, what am I to do with you, Mhíjani?" King Askel muttered, his tone strained as he forced out the words despite his pain.
Zariah arrived beside Gretha, reaching a hand out to take King Askel's outstretched hand, his larger hand enclosed over hers and although his grip was weak, his thumb rubbed the back of her hand in a bid to ease her concern.
